ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL EXPERIENCE

THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA -- Worst buying experience of my life!! I live in The Villages, Fl and recently purchased a six piece leather sectional from this company. Was talked into buying the 3 year in home service agreement also. Their rationale was that if ANYTHING went wrong within 3 years I would be fully covered for repair or replacement - my complete satisfaction was their goal (insert laughter here).

After it was delivered and assembled I noticed that 4 of the six pieces were not uniform. One recliner was two inches lower than the rest, one piece had very noticeable crooked stitching, another had a crooked upper cushion, and one back piece was stuffed so that looked like a pointed bra not a rounded cushion.

I called their customer "NO" service and a service tech appointment was set. They arrived, fluffed a few cushions and promptly said that nothing else could be done and left. After emailing customer "NO" service several times with no response I called and was told my issues were preference items and that was it. I asked the lady if she thought it was my 'preference' to have crooked stitching, sagging seat backs, and incorrectly stuffed furniture. The response was noncommittal. Basically I was told that there was no recourse - end of story.

After my experience I went online to research this company and was stunned to read the hundreds of negative reviews. My bad for not checking ahead of time. They absolutely do not seem to care. I have never encountered this type of stonewalling before. They will take your calls and wear you out saying no, no, no ad nauseam.

If anything, I have learned to check the online reviews of any company that I plan to make a major purchase from in the future. One positive note - I called my original sales person and requested a refund of the $315 service agreement charge. They complied after hearing of my experience with corporate. The sales person did not seem surprised at how I was treated.

City Furniture Worst Purchase Experience Ever

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- City Furniture worst purchase experience ever. On April 4, 2014 I purchased a sofa at City Furniture in North Miami Beach, I scheduled to pick from its warehouse in Tamarac. The following day when I was about to leave my apartment, I called the warehouse. I asked if I could pay to have the sofa delivered to parents' house, instead of my apt and me picking up. The warehouse said that I would have to call my city representative that sold me the sofa for him to arrange it. I called my City Furniture representative who sold me the sofa.

He explained to have the new address inserted in the system he would have to re-do the invoice with the new delivery address. And in the time that he redo a new invoice I could lose the sofa because the sofa would be in the system for another store to sell it. I said that's impossible that someone will be buying this sofa in the next two seconds. And what kind of old system software that you can add a new delivery address after a customer has paid in full.

Nonetheless, I lost the sofa because there was a waiting list. A waiting list that the representative never mentioned. Because if there is a waiting list automatically when you void an invoice it goes to the first person in the waiting list. I would have never taken the chance in losing the sofa if there was a waiting list.

This is unbelievable. I paid for the sofa, the sofa was reserved for me at the warehouse. Because of an old software and a representative that can't inform the customer that you will lose the sofa for a waiting list I end up losing the sofa that I already paid for. How about welcoming City Furniture to the 21st Century. This is not acceptable. They resold what I already had paid for.

Delivery Men Scratched Floors

PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA -- We recently purchased a house and moved in at the end of May 2019. We bought bedroom furniture from City Furniture. The delivery guys decided the pieces were to heavy to carry so they dragged it across the floor and scratched my brand new floors. I call customer service right after to complain and the representative contacted the delivery guys and the guy told her my wife said it was ok to drag it across the floor when in reality my wife said, " these are brand new floors, be careful please." After told the representative that I was conveniently disconnected. My wife was able to get someone back and after a few phone calls City Furniture offered to either pay us $150 or have someone come out and buff the floor. The scratches were so deep, no amount of buffing would fix them. We sent in pictures detailing how they scratched my floors across 3 rooms and 2 hallways. After a month or so of haggling, they sent our a subcontractor to repair the floor. This guy replaced some of the floor boards, but also ruined other ones by staining them with god knows what. Not to mention one board has a noticeable gap which he said it wasn't his fault. He then had the nerve to call us two days later and say if City Furniture calls about the job, tell them its done and that he has to come back to fix one thing. We told City Furniture the opposite. He came back 2 weeks later to fix that gap and he fixed nothing. He told us he has to talk to City Furniture to see if they'll pay him to redo all the floors to fix the gap. So now my brand new floors has a gap in one board and several other boards are stained with whatever he did. Neither him or City Furniture are returning calls.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- We decided to buy a reclyner sofa at City Furniture. When they delivered the sofa for the first time, I noticed it was defective and there was a scratch mark in one of the pillows. I was very reluctant in accepting the delivery but the driver immediatelly placed a call to the customer service and told us it would be ok to sign the delivery paper and all we needed to do was to give them a call and place a claim that they would exchange or refund it. First time, we talked to customer service and we explained the situation about the sofa beeing defective and needed to be exchanged. Well, we go through the second time and the sofa comes again defective and with a small hole in the leather fabric. Now, when we call customer service we surprisingly find out that they have a NO RETURN POLICY and once you accept the first delivery, they can only exchange or give you a store credit. So, we decided to try one more time and have a new sofa delivered for the 3rd time! Well, It came with same problems and now we decided to request a store credit because we were unwilling to accept a defective product. Someone from customer service (after they make you wait for more than 30min, like your time is worth nothing!)tells us that unfortunally in order for them to pick up the defective sofa we have to select something in the store within the next 3 days so the moment they come to pick up their defective product they can deliver something they forced you to buy so you don't loose your money all together. Is this what you call a store credit? And by the way, do not try to call what they refer to a COORPORATE OFFICE because they won't talk to you and you will be forced to go back and talk to those $10hr representatives that cannot resolve and has no authority over anything.
This is a scam, bait and switch advertisement and mileading. THE QUALITY IS NOT THERE, WHAT YOU SEE IN THE STORE IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET AT DELIVERY!! REMEMBER THERE IS NO REFUND, NO STORE CREDIT AND THE EXCHANGE IS FOR THE SAME DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. Bottom line, they force you to keep a defective product. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.

Customer Service - Rip Offs

TAMARAC, FLORIDA -- City Furniture is the WORST stores for Customer Service. I even spoke to the CEO's Secretary, Gretchen, who is also a nasty woman. Long story short, we bought a dining room table and 6 chairs. Delivery day, only table and 4 chairs were delivered. We asked the driver, where are the 2 other chairs, the delivery people say, "We don't know, our order says 4 chairs". So we pull our receipt out and shows we paid for 6. The delivery people call Customer Service, they explain to them what is going on. CS asks to speak with us, we are on speaker, CS does not know this. As soon as we say hello, CS starts blaming the delivery people, now they are pissed of.

Now CS and the delivery people are fighting in our home. Then they want us to schedule another day, 9:00 am to 7:00PM. This is after we have already waited all day for this first delivery. We go back and forth and nothing. I call the office of the CEO first time leave a message for this Gretchen, 2 days no return call. I call the 3rd day and she picks up. I ask her did you get my message, she states yes, she is writing to a manager to let them know about my issues. She then asks me in a nasty tone, what is it that you want? I said did you not listen to the voice mail, you just said you were sending a message. Back and forth we go, she is just one nasty **.

We will NEVER walk into a City Furniture again, I have told all of our friends, family, co-workers to please don't shop there. The only way to have any effect of these assholes is to hit them in their wallets, where it counts. City Furniture, I hope you go broke and close your doors. Worst Customer Service is South Florida, and that's saying something if you live here and know what I am talking about.

TAMARAC, FLORIDA -- Where do I start, well for one they need to clean house with there Training Supervisors! I wouldn't recommend this company to anybody who needs a career for the simple fact I was given false hopes on this job as a career based life-long program! The supervisors will sell you the world if they can on how long they've been there and great this job is, but observing there actions it seems they are all about themselves, an just there to collect a check! I got injured on the job and I was told by my supervisor that my job security with the company is within good standings don't worry. I couldn't work for 3 weeks as req by my doctor an was told after 3 weeks just bring in the proper documentation of my release to work again so I did, I called my supervisor told him I'm ok an doc says I'm good with whatever documents you need, he says ok he's with a large training class at the moment he' ll give me a call later to Schedule me for the next training class... 2 days and No response, I called him several times after left voice msgs, I even texts he responded to one an ignored the others.. I called HR department they said that's not rite, they relayed the msg to him, then gave me a call back stating I should be receiving a call from him shortly, guess what no call. Now HR doesn't even answer my msgs! It's been a month now!
Nobody returns calls, after leaving VM and no response to text msgs either and all I'm getting When I do get a hold of someone is 'oh you have to talk to your 'supervisor' who seems to be purposely ignoring me! So with that said I wouldn't recommend this company to a soul, they preach on how much they are family oriented and look out for one another but based on there actions, they're just another company looking to get over on people. Hope this was helpful to anyone who is told this is a stable career or looking for something permanent. I wasn't given that opportunity to find out bcuz of whatever reason they couldn't keep it 100, they're just not an honest company, so Just be careful.

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- If I could give no stars, I would! The delivery guys stepped all over the very rug they were delivering. When I pointed out a stain on a chair they delivered, they got very hostile and didn't want to take it back until I demanded they take it out of my home. They promised pillows with some of the furniture that was not delivered, the "manager" made promises to deliver it but never did. When they called to replace the chair that was stained, they changed the delivery time, without any prior notice, to a time I couldn't be home so they charged me $99.00 ($20 more than the value of the chair). I can't get a manager on the phone to talk to me about the pillows nor the chair.

Now I'm without pillows or a chair that were paid for and there is no recourse for me but to dispute it with my credit card company. FYI, the supposed sales manager was Derrick and the store manager who wouldn't take my call nor responsibility was Guy.

Poor Business Practices

PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA -- My son purchased a couch and matching chair at City Furniture. After the second day, we discovered that the arms of both pieces of furniture were collapsing. We found out that the arms were constructed of cardboard and thin padding as the repair representative did his best to fix the arms but after a few hours, deemed them irreparable. As a result, we then requested our money back and were refused by every supervisor in the corporate office.

We do feel strongly that this is just not right and the present policy of "under no conditions will there be a refund" does not represent good and just business practices for the consumer. Simply stated, it just is not a fair call in this situation; It is a shame that the company does not stand behind its product.

CUTLER BAY, FLORIDA -- I purchased a couch and two chairs for $3,500 and after delivery they were found to be infested with termites. I also purchased the extended replacement warranty. Customer service had me email photos of the 25 to 30 termites we found alive in and on the furniture. Customer service told me that termites were not covered by any warranty.

Despite numerous calls, I have yet to receive a call back, 9 days. The salesman and store manager take no responsibility for the damaged furniture. Basically this operation takes no responsibility for the quality of the furniture they sell and then does not honor the warranties they also sell. Avoid this furniture chain and spend your funds with honorable operations have customer service as one of their business practices

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA -- Bought a beautiful looking sectional for $1,100.00. It was delivered with a little hole. I decided to repair myself and take the credit. Not six months later while sitting and getting up with barely any pressure on the arm. It collapsed. That should have been my indication to return it. Had a dinner party. While guest sitting the seat collapsed. Then the cushion sagged. I have had this piece of crap for just about two years and now have to throw it in the garbage and replace it. I am scared. Lol. Don't know what is quality to purchase as I wonder if the same will happen. I have purchased furniture over the years and still have pieces in better shape after 15 years than this crap.
