Manager very unprofessional
By -

I worked for KFC for a short time and was a hard worker unlike some that was there. When I found out there was a different manager I applied and was told I was not to be rehired which the manager pretty well told the whole store that I was not to be rehired because I did not give a 2 weeks notice and the reason I quit because of my hours being cut and younger employees were getting the hours.

I am asking the Missouri Labor board to look into this matter because I believe former employees were hired back without giving a notice. I believe my application was marked "do not rehire" because I had told the manager that there were violations of safety that if OSHA was informed there would be fines. I have been in management for over 20 years and know my rights and have dealt with the Labor Board several times and will ask to see if other workers were rehired without giving notice. Employment records are confidential which I feel the manager should not have told anyone about my not giving notice.

When I spoke to the manager he told me he did not give a damn rather I had a job or not, and that he was very busy. Of course I am used to working with educated and professional people. I want my application looked at and the black mark removed.

You do not have to worry about me applying for a job at KFC again, I just want the truth told. This manager may not give a damn rather I have a job or not lets just hope he has the safety of the employees as a concern because when I worked there safety did not look as too valuable. I am trained in what OSHA looks for as well as the health department looks for. I was told to cut my beard off and the asst. manager had a full goatee and other cooks were not following the protocol that I had to abide by.

Free Grilled Chicken Not Worth the Wait
By -

Finally got my free KFC grilled chicken meal after the coupon fiasco in May and I was even more underwhelmed with the company. It was bad enough that KFC used the bait and switch tactic to get people in the door with no intention of giving a meal away that visit in the first place, but I figured I would redeem the mailed coupon and try to give them a chance. I left knowing I will never enter another KFC ever again.

I was the second one in line a little after 1 PM on Monday July 21 and the cashier was already giving me a dirty look as she noticed the coupon. When asked if I could finally redeem my coupon she just gave a empty nod yes and said I wanted slaw and mashed. I asked for potato wedges and got another nod and a "yeah". When it came time to pick the chicken the cashier took the time to find the smallest pieces that had been sitting and drying out the longest, bagged it up and I was on my way. The drumstick had about two bites of chicken on it and the breast was so dry I had to throw it away.

It's obvious that even after the public relations nightmare after the first coupon, the company is trying to get off as cheaply as they can. I'm sure the long delay in getting the coupon was a ploy to hope people would forget the offer. I was probably lucky to get mine and wonder how many were "lost" in the mail. The coupon had about a 2-week window to use it and I again will assume that's so people hopefully misplace it or forget to use it in time.

The capper is them employee telling me I would get slaw and giving me the dirty look when I wanted another side and then finding the nastiest unsaleable pieces of chicken available. It would not surprise me if the monthly training this month was how to make people trying to redeem this coupon as unwelcome as they could. I did feel unwelcome and will never set foot in another KFC again.

Horrible Food Even Worse Service
By -

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK -- I live in Jamestown NY. Today I visited KFC on 2nd St for the first time in years. The last time I had KFC the customer service was very rude and management was no better. I thought after all this time maybe they hired some more polite people. Boy was I wrong, the people that work there were as usual extremely rude. I had to ask them if everyone was new because nobody knew what they were doing. Everyone was standing there waiting for their food while the employees were clueless. They didn't know who ordered what, forgot and skipped over people's orders, the manager ended up giving away free food for the inconvenience.

To make matters worse the place was completely filthy, I had to remind them that they are supposed to clean the tables before sitting down and taking a break enjoying their own food while customers wait. I ordered the 10 piece grilled chicken and while the chicken didn't taste bad the size of the pieces of chicken were ridiculous. A chicken leg looked more like a broken off wing. 10 pieces was more like 3 or 4 decent pieces.

When I said something to the manager he was very rude and said the grilled is smaller than the crispy because it's not battered. I responded by saying actually you are leading people to believe the crispy is bigger because you bread it but really you getting the same size chicken, he responds by saying yes. I asked how many people a 10 piece should feed and he said 5 because its 2 pieces per person. Well that's a joke. The manager got really nasty and said it's not my problem I don't order the chicken if you're not happy call the 800 number.

Needless to say I should have gone with my instincts and stayed away from KFC. I will never go there again and this time I mean it. The place has not changed a bit. I guess the store fits well with the neighborhood 2nd street trash. They don't feel the need to maintain the restaurant or hire staff who are well mannered and polite because the neighborhood doesn't have high expectations being that are the same way. In Jamestown we call 2nd st "THE GHETTO". Keep up the good work KFC!

Feathers And Food Poisoning
By -

MORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA -- Saturday May 30th my fiancé and I visited your Morgantown WV restaurant at around 6 o'clock. We ordered the 10 piece grilled and fried mix bucket. The food was fair but the grilled chicken was very dry. After eating a few pieces of the grilled we moved on to the fried that was at the bottom of the bucket. To our horror after starting to eat we found a feather that had been fried along with the chicken. (It measures almost 3 inches in length, we bagged it and refrigerated it until such time that we get a reply.) Disgusted with the discovery we left the restaurant went to a movie and returned home.

I awoke very early Sunday morning violently ill with food poisoning. My fiancé was also ill but not to the extent that I was. I was so ill that I was forced to call off work for that day and was still very ill at work Monday. It's a special occasion when we get to go to a KFC restaurant for us because we live almost an hour from the nearest restaurant in rural Oakland MD. Needless to say this incident has kind of put us off to your food chain. I have my sales receipt and my credit card receipt. I also have the fried feather we found and a few left over pieces that we don't dare eat after falling ill to food poisoning.

I feel this is a serious inquiry and should not be taken lightly. When visiting a restaurant you expect a certain level of quality, becoming violently ill and finding a fried feather in your food is not quite what you expect. I don't know how to resolve this incident or if you need to view and/or test either the feather or the chicken itself but I will hold on to them and keep them refrigerated until the problem is resolved.

Ripoff Prices
By -

MIDLOTHIAN, VIRGINIA -- I went to the KFC on Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA on Saturday 5/23/09 and ordered the 2-piece grilled chicken dinner w/2 sides and med drink. The price on the board said "lunch special $4.99 all day". What came up on the ticket was $6.59. The menu display board also had a price for the dessert parfaits as $1.39, however the register rings up $1.49. Needless to say this is wrong.

The manager Sarina stated that the registers pricing is correct and stated that the prices had changed a long time ago and no one updated the prices on the board. The manner in which she stated this was very demeaning. She then went to the board and ripped the 3 off of the price leaving $1._9 up on the board. She then stated she will not honor the price nor does she have to. There also seemed to be a racial issue involved. She made sure that she waited on people the same color as her before she would say anything to me. I did not get the parfaits.

The price of the grilled chicken was another story. The price on the board clearly stated $4.99 and the receipt rang up $6.59 w/tax for $6.92. The manager had to make a big production of the fact that they weren't responsible for a register error. The error occurred because the employee who rang up the sale did not hit the button marked promotional discount.

She did refund the difference in price, while she was doing this she and the cashier who rang up the order wrong started whispering back and forth and glancing back at me and laughing. I will not visit this store again and I urge consumers who do visit the store to check their receipts for accuracy. Specials aren't always what they seem.

My family and I was attacked by KFC employees!
By -

I went to KFC tonight with my family (husband, 3 kids) and a friend. They posted a sign that the free meal with the Oprah coupon was only valid for 1 chicken and 1 side. That was fine. It didn't bother us much. So we waited in line, as we got our food, my friend asked for a biscuit that they forgot, the employee stated that we don't give away biscuits, only chicken and a side. The employee gave her 3 chicken legs in her box. My friend kindly asked the employee of KFC to take back one leg for exchange for one biscuit.

The employee snatched the box of food from my friend and took out the chicken but left one and said, "Now you ain't getting nothing!" My friend pushed the KFC box and it fell on the floor. The employee got so angry she then ran around the counter trying to attacked my friend inside the restaurant in front of many witnesses. Her other employees held her back and than we walked out. As I was saying good bye to my friend and walking towards my van to help my husband put my kids in the car, that same employee ran outside the KFC yelling and cursing a storm. She then started punching and pulling my friend's hair.

I came trying to pull her away. She threw some blows and hit me a few times and my right hand is badly swollen and bruised from blocking her punches. Then another employee came running towards me and my friend punching and swinging at us. Witnesses tried to hold back the 2 KFC employees and my husband called the cops! The cops came got a police report and everyone left! But I'm not done with them. Those girls need to lose their job and they should have got arrested for assault / battery. The District Attorney will hear this story.

Basically we were not attacked by just any girls, but girls who worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken, in their uniforms, who ran outside during business hours to attack customers! What is this world coming to? I learned my lesson that a free meal is not worth getting attacked by 2 angry KFC employees!

Rude and Lying Manager
By -

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- As everyone might already know, KFC through Oprah Winfrey's' show has a promotion of the new grilled chicken that came out. A group of us employees decided to print the coupon which was for 2 free PCS of grilled chicken (managers' choice) 2 sides and biscuit. We all got together and went to KFC for lunch. As soon as we got there and the manager saw us with the coupons in our hands, she starts yelling in front of the other customers. "Get out, there is no more grilled chicken." I stopped serving it at 2:00 pm. A customer asked why, that the coupon did not specify any particular cut-off time.

She again said she ran out of chicken so he asked what about tomorrow? she goes; "I said no more and I am not having anymore go find it somewhere else." They read to her what the promo coupon said about end of promo, said she didn't care and to get out. She was not going to have it at her location anymore. SHE'S THE BOSS!!!

She was also very rude to her employees who were out at the dining area cleaning table and kind of sweeping pieces of trash from under the tables on the empty side. We were only 4 customers eating there 2 tables of 2 each and the rest was empty but there were people coming in (with coupons) whom she ran out of KFC and she didn't care to yell at her employee(s) that she embarrassed them.

If anymore customers came in, which with this promo quite a bit were walking in, she would also hide inside in the back of the ovens and yell from there to them to leave that there was no more promo at her place. Something needs to be done by Kentucky corporate about this manager and some of her female employees. We also called to see "check" on family pack of grilled chicken (since she had told us that she ran out of it) and sure enough if you were going to buy it of course she asked us how many PCS we wanted and then gave us total for meal. but for our coupons she DID NOT HAVE ANY???

We wish corporate office would do something about this. We have never been so humiliated and treated so bad in any of KFC locations we have visited here in Houston, and not only us 5 working girls, but we are sure there are a lot of unhappy customers that went there today.

Chemicals On Food
By -

DAYTON, OHIO -- I visited the KFC On Linden Ave. in Dayton, OH and purchased 2 Big Box Meals for myself and my friend. I had eaten about 3 potato wedges, and I took 2 bites of the fourth when I was struck with a disgusting taste. It tasted like those strong cleaning fluids you sometimes smell in restaurants. I immediately got up and spit out what was still in my mouth, and soon after the contents of my stomach. I made my friends look at it, and all of them immediately smelled the chemical and noticed the dark blue discoloration on the inside. I could not get rid of the taste in my mouth, and felt an odd tingling sensation on my tongue. Almost like I had put hot food in my mouth and burnt it.

I decided to bring the food back to KFC. That way they could be aware of the issue, and I could find out what chemical I might have ingested. The manager was friendly, polite and apologetic and surprisingly even smelled the wedge. However, he stated that he noticed no odor and at first offered to only remake the wedges. I declined his first offer, as well as his offer to remake the entire box since I no longer had an appetite.

I told him all I wanted was a refund for the 2 boxes. He replied he couldn't give me a refund. He'd have to send a request to corporate that would take up to 4 weeks to process. He also added that he was very careful with his cleaning fluids, only cleaned at night, and was "OCD so obviously he was thorough about cleaning". Since he refused to admit it was tainted, I was unable to get the name of any possible chemicals.

What disturbs me the most is the fact a 2 year old was sharing the other wedges, and he might have got the tainted fry if I hadn't first. I was able to get the manager to admit that perhaps the chemical got on the wedges at the factory. My stomach was in agony for the rest of the night, and still hurts a little bit now.

Kentucky Employees Ripping Customers Off?
By -

PORT ELIZABETH, SOUTH AFRICA -- Hi there, I would just like an opportunity to vent about our local KFC (Sidwell, Port Elizabeth). On more than one occasion we have had bad service at this particular KFC, things like missing items in the bags, raw chicken etc. Today however we took our kids to the drive-through for Chocolate Brownie Sundaes and after having paid and parking at the collection window we were told: "Sorry, but there's no chocolate sauce so you will have to have caramel sundaes." Now my problem with this might not yet be so apparent but bear with me.

A chocolate brownie prices at R12.90 and a caramel sundae R10.90. I was not offered to be reimbursed for the lost R2.00 on each sundae. Now, do a quick sum with me, if 100 people stop here on a Saturday, that's R200 lost by us the customers and nicely tucked into some fortunate employee's pocket! When I went in and complained to the manager and also asked why we weren't being told this at the order window (then I wouldn't have ordered that in the first place right!) he informed me that there was in fact Chocolate sauce available and that the saleslady in question was in fact just too lazy to walk to the storeroom to fetch it!

Talk about pathetic service, was it pure laziness or long fingers at work here, your guess is as good as mine. Oddly enough, every single time we have bought from the KFC at Fiveways we have only had brilliant service. Is it a matter of the poorer the neighborhood the poorer the service? Are the poorer people's money not as good? Do the poor not deserve good service too?

One thing's for sure, this particular KFC will never see me set foot there ever again. If the management of KFC would be interested at all, I have the particulars of the saleslady in question. However if the past reaction by management is anything to go by, I will not be holding my breath waiting for your call! A former KFC client.

Bad Service + Incorrect Order = :-(
By -

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- This is regarding the KFC off Kenwood Road in the suburbs of Cincinnati. I understand that working in fast food is not particularly the most rewarding occupation. I'm not being condescending - I worked at Subway. So whenever I go to a business for a service or product, I always am pleasant - regardless of my personal issues and circumstances. Is it too much to ask for the same courtesy in return?

There were two women working the front counter. I walked up to the front counter and was not acknowledged - no eye contact, nothing - for two minutes by two workers standing directly on the opposite side of the counter. Yes, they were occupied, but I figure a new customer standing right in front of you warrants at least an "I'll be right with you." So, strike one.

Adding to the initial bad impression was the dour attitude of the woman who eventually acknowledged me and took my order - a Big Box Meal, which at this particular location consisted of a drumstick or thigh, two original recipe strips, a snacker, two sides, a biscuit, and a large drink.

I'm not dumb and I know how advertising works, so I didn't expect the box of food to be as overwhelming as it looked on TV. Nonetheless, I choose the thigh, macaroni, mashed potatoes, and asked for no mayo on the snacker. Really the only thing that was "accurate" in my opinion was the drink, thigh, and sides. There was no biscuit, mayo was on the snacker, and the strips could not reasonably be called two of anything. There was a tiny piece of shriveled chicken, and what looked like two minuscule nuggets.

What was so difficult about my order? So not only did the food quality remind me of why I haven't been there in years as opposed to Popeyes, but the service made me feel bad for the people paying their checks - they're not getting their money's worth if they call that "working." Bad attitude, incorrect order... Must be a nice scam.
