I sigined up with Lingo with their World Max Plan which was advertised as an unlimited plan and they have a 2 year contract and early cancellation fee. 3 Months later now they are saying they have changed their policy since then and only 800 minutes are allowed as part of the plan. They are asking me to change my plan and pay more by subscribing to a per minute usage plan. If I cancel and don't want to pay higher amount I will be charged early cancellation free. So Lingo is running a scam and fraud where they lure people in by giving out these promotions and ripping them off a few months later either by forcefully increasing rate or by charging early termination fee. These actions are unlawful and Lingo should be brought to justice.1 Replies - Latest reply on 04/14/2010Add reply
I ordered the Lingo account to call international as part of their world plan. They kept charging me for calls that was included in the plan, every time got apologies and assurances it would not happen again. It continuously did and finally I could not take it anymore and spoke with a supervisor to cancel. I was only 2 months into the plan and my account was heavily documented as to all my issues. I spoke with supervisor so that I would not be charged the cancellation fee and was assured by the supervisor they would cancel and I would not be charged. I was and it was forwarded to collections. I called and they suddenly have no record of my not being charged cancellation fee. Terrible nightmare that I have paid several hundred dollars to get out of.
Every time they credited my account for calls, they only credited calls not the tax from the calls. Also had to end up paying the cancellation fee to avoid collections.
VIRGINIA -- Well I just got a phone call but I can't call anybody. nice phone service, 2days to get back to me, prob have to deal with every body's bad phone service.

I bet I'm still getting charged for your bad service. I'm still posting bad things to say about this company all over the net. You people won't want me as a customer when I'm done. I'll post these comments on the Internet for you guys we all know how honest your company is.
Please don't make the same mistake, check out any company you deal with.
google it if you choose, but make them earn your business not the other way around.
I had been using Lingo for 6 months. They were OK for quality but the price was too high for what I needed as I call worldwide. I have now called them 3 times in the last 2 months to cancel my Lingo account. I have been continually billed each month for the last 2 months. I now have to dispute this last bill with my credit card company as I have gotten absolutely no satisfaction from Lingo. I just called Lingo to no avail. Very poor customer service. It is too bad as I was with them early on in their service and they were fairly good then. They must be big enough to be arrogant now.Add reply
Did anyone initiate any legal action against them? I am going through the same painful process like everyone and getting the threat of disconnection. Lingo could not provide me any prove against their policy (unlimited call) that I broke. Three of my friend and family got disconnected and charged for the service cancellation ($100). Is there any action I can take besides complaining? Anyone? Add reply
Dear friends, please do not fall prey for Lingo services. Lingo will tell you that first month free, unlimited world wide call, and lot of other blah..blah..blah.... My humble request to you please stay away from all VOIP services with unlimited international calls. Once you sign up you cannot cancel your service and they will never answer your call. I had my worst experience with Lingo and never, ever in my life I will come back to Lingo or to Vonage VOIP services. I request all current Lingo and Vonage customers to cancel their service and try your old calling cards to make international calls because that will still work out cheap for you rather than paying $30 a month for VOIP and another hefty fee for cancelling the account and poor call quality.

So stay away from all VOIP providers, they are cheating their customers because the VOIP service is new and do not have many laws and regulations. Thank you.
Phone service is OK but customer service is the worst possible in the world. Try to stay away from them if possible.
They took 4 months to cancel my Lingo account. DISGUSTING
The Lingo service is not bad per-se but God forbid you need to call their customer support. OMG! their service is the WORST. The support personnel (including supervisors) are completely untrained and SO frustrating to talk to, they make you want to pull your hair out. I'm not exaggerating even a tiny bit. They are the most infuriating bunch that I've ever come across. Stay away from Lingo if you value your peace of mind!!Add reply
LINGO - Is this a scam?

Lingo advertises "unlimited" calls in 70 countries, but they froze my ability to call international after about couple weeks. I was allegedly making too many international calls. What happened to their "unlimited" deal? I canceled immediately!! 1 Replies - Latest reply on 12/26/2009Add reply
Lingo suspended my service in after 2 weeks and they billed me for next month without providing me their service!!! I already have submitted complaints in FCC and BBB, but I did not get any response from these two organizations. Please respond if any one got any response for their complaints yet or not.
I am wondering whether there is any comsumer protection law from Lingo type cheat company or not.
Lingo Commits Fraud
MCLEAN, VIRGINIA -- Lingo has sold the plan as "Unlimited" and yet after 500 minutes of international called they suspended my service claiming high usage account. I have filed complaint to FCC asking them to shut down this ... read full review3 Replies - Latest reply on 12/17/2009
Lingo suspended my service without my knowledge. Later I got a e-mail stating service is suspended due to high uses. I took unlimitted plan and tried to contact customer service to get an explanation but never able to reach them. I left at least 10 voice messages and sent few e-mails to customer care but they never responded. With many attempts finally I reached a customer service and she told my line would be retain with in 24 hours but already over 3 days no connection established. I do not know what else I can do to retain my service.
NEVER EVER TAKE LINGO.
LINGO is a Scam and a fraudulent company. On their web it says "Unlimited Local and International Calls at Only $24.99 per Month". But in their terms and condition it is written (in a very small font):

“Residential Customer’s monthly usage is limited to 4,999 minutes per month”
They are suspending people's line that is even exceeding 500 minutes per month of international call. I found in my outgoing calling list that there were many calls placed from my number while we are out of town in Thanks Giving Holidays. They even refused to investigate that.
My suggestion to everyone: DO NOT TAKE THEIR PLAN. You will end up of severe trouble and paying more.
I have subscribed to Lingo phone service. They advertised on their website the call is unlimited(in bold) but in the terms and condition section, they are saying it is not unlimited. This is misleading. Now they have suspended my phone service for usage and if I try to get out of the service, they are going to fine. Customer service is worse. They are like scam artist. They contradict their own words 3 Replies - Latest reply on 12/10/2009Add reply
STERLING, VIRGINIA -- I will never ever suggest anyone to use LINGO as their phone service provider. The advertisement says "unlimited call" but they have disconnected my phone line without my knowledge and now telling me I use it too much and it will take 24 hours to get re-activated. VONAGE is lot better than Lingo. Lingo customer service sucks, horrible, terrible. NO NO NO to Lingo. Please do not waste your time going to LINGO.Add reply
