Neglected & Abandoned for No Good Reason.

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- Do not fall victim too! I was referred in May for an infection only 'they' are able to treat. But I got the call today, that they would not be able to, since it has been consistent for four years, assuming I am delusional... Huh?! They said I need to get treatment closer to home. That is ridiculous since the referring doctor says no doctor in or around my area can treat because they are not educated enough. Ummm so now what??

Also, the Mayo doctors only read some of the doctors' notes and not one lab result which there are four lab results all saying the same!! I have had six specialist all tell me to go to the Mayo because they will treat me. Yeah right. What a ** joke!! #willsufferon!! Thanks Mayo Mafia!

Cruel Arrogant Doctors

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- My daughter had been under the care of two specialist at Mayo Clinic Rochester for years. We took her to the ER when we were not able to contact her doctor by telephone. The ER Doctor refused to call her specialist and wanted to just admit her. She refused to be admitted. This angered the doctor, and when I advocated that she had a right to choose where, and by who, she received her care. The very angry doctor filed an unlawful civil treatment hold and a false vulnerable adult report. Only because she was born with Down Syndrome was she forced to endure such calloused, merciless discrimination.

Any doctor that would practice such negligent abuse of power and "I am God" arrogance is a very disturbed person. Yet this behavior is allowed by administration. By the time they figured out she had the same rights as any other human being, that she had a right to choose, and a disability has not one thing to do with a person saying no, she had already suffered fatal treatment by doctors not familiar with her. One thousand people die every day from medical error. Just in the United States. United States Senate is now addressing the problem. Thank you for this website. This will save lives.

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- My mom went in on Tuesday 6/24/2014. They discharged her the next evening. In the morning she was having chest pain and black stool. She's been in the Methodist hospital since, and they still haven't figured out where the internal bleeding is coming from!!!! I spoke with her nurse today (Sunday 6/29/14) and he said they would be doing another scan tomorrow - but she isn't considered "high-risk" so it will be sometime in the evening. WTF?!?!?!? If they don't do something tomorrow, I will be going down there..... Trust me, they will give her some aftercare or I will be in jail!! Mayo is good at surgery. But after that you're on your own......

stay a total of 2 days for the consultation & tests. We booked a hotel for 3 days since 5 hrs. to get there. The excitement quickly turned into a nightmare. During a 15 min consultation with the surgeon he said that I have to "win" a surgery date by calling the 1st of every month. Then after winning a "spot, then I would come back for tests...then back yet again for the surgery. I was dumfounded. I had waited 7 weeks, was out thousands in lost work time and expenses, and paid $680.00 for 15 minutes to find out what I should have been told over the phone.
Unbelievably irresponsible...still furious.

Operate like shady mechanic's

ARIZONA -- I was excited about going to Mayo Clinic because of their reputation, but found them to operate like a shady mechanic. I have been to many specialists over the years for my genetic condition but none that string you along like Mayo does. All other surgeons I have ever seen either say the will or won't operate. NOT MAYO. They took it upon themselves to schedule 8 more appointments for me without my permission and I am feeling like they will keep doing that without ever treating the issue I came in for originally. Then when you get your bill expecting one copay you see that they charge an extra office visit for every doctor that assisted the doctor you came to see. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A THING. VERY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING!!

Improper billing practices

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- Dr. Mathew ** is a top rate doctor. The Mayo Clinic billing department is either inept or bordering on fraudulent practices. Due to severe back problems, Dr. ** ordered an MRI and a C-Scan. For some reason the MRI Dr, ** ordered, required me to sign a Notice of Non Coverage in the event the MRI was a frivolous procedure. This protects Medicare from being billed inappropriately. I have had numerous MRIs over the past six (6) years and have never had a bill declined.

When I contacted Mayo billing dept regarding the wrong Medicare code on the billing, I was told to contact the coding dept. The coding department would not provide me with the Medicare code that was placed on Dr. **'s order. Coding department told me I had to contact Accounting Services to obtain the billing code. Account Services (Ms. Bridgette ** was very helpful, but stated I need to contact the Billing Department. I informed her the Billing Department (that I had an appointment with just 30 minutes before) was the department to obtain Dr. **'s coding. Basically, this was a run-a-round in order to defeat me from getting the $1,946.00 re-billed through Medicare. I understand this is a practice used by Mayo in order to make more money by billing me full price, rather than settle for the Medicare scheduled payment amount. As far as I'm concerned, this is a scam used for people on Medicare.

RICE LAKE, WISCONSIN -- I have a cyst on my back that has gotten infected. I made an appointment in early August to have it removed by Dr T Bergseth. Within 30 minutes of the appointment, while I was driving to Rice Lake from Spooner, a nurse called to say that the Dr could not make the appointment. I was mad but I rescheduled for 8/22, the next time the Dr was in Rice Lake. I drove again to Rice Lake and within 40 minutes of the appointment a nurse called again to say the Dr was unavailable. I asked to speak with an administrator. I was handed off to a nurse named Brianna who was not an administrator. Immediately she tried to talk over me and tell me that sometimes Dr's are called to emergencies. The conversation started to get heated as I realized nothing was going to me done about my issue. She exhibited a bad attitude throughout. I am still looking for someone who can actually make an informed decision about what to do for wasting so much of my time.

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- Hallelujah, Praise The Lord, I was turned down by Mayo facility. I'll make this short. I've been in horrible agony for about three years now. I can't get the answers here and decided to go up north (we live in Texas) to get an advanced report from the best professional doctors and hospital. We called in March, no return call. We decided to call them today 7-23-2018. That was five months ago I contacted. The receptionist said back in March, she would get back with us, the following week.

NOT! Her reply to us today was “the doctors decided they couldn't help me. My heart went to my stomach. We then decided to read the reviews. We were in disbelief, as we had been informed, what a great facility it was, with only the best doctors. We read other patients reviews. I feel we had an angel watching over us. That's why I say, Hallelujah, Praise The Lord, I was turned down by the Mayo facility. Thank You, God!!

They Killed Our Father

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- Our father went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for surgery and died in recovery. Now they are demanding we pay his outstanding medical bill or they'll send it to collections when it was their fault he contracted an infection that you can ONLY get in a hospital, and they did absolutely nothing to try to save his life! They are uncaring, uncompassionate, and a bunch of ill-trained malpractice idiots. We even threatened legal action and they just brushed it off like it's no big deal, I want everyone to be aware of the risk you take in leaving your loved ones in their so called "care"!

Lower Your Expectations

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- Not impressed at all. I do acknowledge the system there seems organized. There is minimal waiting time and most of the staff is friendly. Other than that, it's just a regular health care provider. I didn't see the "going the extra mile" at all. They do run a lot of tests, but even with some random results that could mean something potentially dangerous, they just left it there stating that "blood work has fine and not many classic symptoms present".

One of my blood exams was abnormal (could be the cause of a very serious condition) and many of my imaging tests showed abnormalities too that at end could not be explained. And here I stand, left with all these bills, no definitive answer, and more worried than when I first walked in. Disappointing.
