COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Midas told me the tension belt was "off" and needed to be replaced for $420, and that I needed a new water pump, that anti-freeze was leaking onto the belt for $380. I called another mechanic to get a second opinion and he told me he could do all that for $300. When I called Midas back to tell them not to do anything to my car, they said they had already "torn it apart" and would cost $280 to put it back together without fixing anything. As you can imagine, I was beyond angry. I will never go back to Midas again.Add reply
TULSA -- Back brakes needed for my Kia. It was obvious by the sound. I just quit driving it once the sound started and took it in ASAP. Midas store Manager advised when he called me that the repair would come in at $333. Of course he was gone when it was time to pick the car up for a total of $400. I asked the clerk about the $333 and he said that was not enough (no kidding). A $67.00 (20%) swing may be small change at Midas but it's real money to us. Plan on adding significantly to your quote, better yet, ask then to fax the estimate to you or take a picture of the paperwork and text it to you. Also this... be certain the location that does your work allows customer comments to be entered for their web located site..MapQuest in this case. The Midas store I went to does not allow any customer comments at a regular search result location... clever indeed.Add reply
WEST PALM BEACH AND LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA -- I took my vehicle in for an inspection regarding the engine. I was not able to get out of my car when I arrived home because my door handle was broken. I know that it was not broken and was working well when I handed them my keys. What's upsetting is that they pretended like nothing happened and did not even mention it when they handed me my key. I called and talked to the store manager Matt at the West Palm Beach location (and later with another Matt –Lake Worth location manager). It took them a week to find the part and when they finally did, they wanted to charge me for labor! I am very upset for the fact that I was expected to pay for something that "Midas touch" broke. This is definitely not the type of service that I appreciate. I have never been a Midas customer before and never will be again!Add reply
Replaced wrong axle. Fixed their mistake and when asked what they would discount for my inconvenience and time waiting, they told me I got a much better repair for my price, because they fixed both axles. The only reason both axles got fixed is because they messed up and removed the wrong axle to begin with. Mechanic came out to intimidate me. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 12/09/2013Add reply

MCCART STREET, FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- I had a situation with a car dealership and questioned their assessment of my brakes. I came to the Midas on McCart Street in Fort Worth to get a second opinion. The guys were so helpful and kind to me and explained everything I needed to know to go back to the dealership with documented fire power. Midas knew that this would not result in a sale for them. They gave awesome customer service anyway. Thanks guys!Add reply
FAYETTEVILLE, GEORGIA -- I took my forerunner in for front struts to only find out that the Service Team Lied! They could not fix my truck but were blatant about saying that they could. After dropping it off at the opening of the day, it sat in the parking lot without any one even looking at it.
Absolutely amazing that I had to call them about six hours Yes six hours later to say....are you all completed. The response was we "thought we had the correct parts But.......my question then was when was someone going to call me the customer? Then the manager proceeded to say....we had no numbers for you....really? You quoted my number from the computer that particular morning. Needless to say, I will never return to that place again. I actually should have listened to residents in the city who stated...."service is Horrible there!" Don't listen to their price quotes...it is a hoax." I sure learned my lesson.
One simple call within the hour and I could have taken it somewhere else...absolutely horrible. I sure hope all Midas are not that way. If so....beware!
WEST SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA -- I was there in December for a broken exhaust pipe, it was repaired for $170, there were many other rusted places in the pipes there I was not told about. Fast forward to July, another pipe breaks so I make an appointment. I had a 10AM appointment and the car wasn't looked at until noon. I spent 5.5 hours total waiting around and spent $300 only to have a muffler fall off (literally) a week and a half later. This was due to the manager not telling me that pipe holding the mufflers on in the rear was rusted badly on both sides. That repair was another 3.5 hours waiting around and $150. I could have done a much better job inspecting the car myself. I complained through their website, and all the general manager would do is defend his people, and he said he would send a certificate for future exhaust work. They don't want to ''oversell'' is what general manager Steve says. Oversell by (withholding information) not telling the customer that they need new pipes, so that they'll return multiple times to spend multiple hours and dollars? Terrible.Add reply

EAST LONGMEADOW, MASSACHUSETTS -- I went into Midas in east Longmeadow to have my car checked to see if I needed brakes and they said yes, pads only and I said ok go ahead and put new pads on. So after it was done I went to pick my car up and when I was driving the car and I applied my brakes I head squeeking so I went back to Midas and they test drive it and said that he couldn't hear anything so they can't fix the problem unless they hear what I am hearing.

He said that he put two of the line brake pads on my car and that there is nothing wrong with my car. I will be back there bugging them until they fix the problem. I am never going back there for any other service to be done on my car.
HANOVER PARK, ILLINOIS -- I took my minivan in for oil change and tire rotation. We have this van for last 7 years and took it to a different shop for repairs in past. Well, we moved to Hanover park IL and thought MIDAS is close to my house lets give them a chance to earn my business.
They did the oil change and tire rotation but left the center wheel cap loose on two wheels. The caps fell off in a week after tire rotation, which never happened before in past 7 years. Now it is going to cost me $70 to replace the caps unless I go to a junk yard and get them from there cheaper.
When tires were rotated with wheels, the mechanic did not look at the front brake pads nor he recommended anthing regarding brakes. My rotors got damaged a week later because pads were completely worn off which could have been replaced at the time of tire rotation without extra cost of rotors.
I promise to not go back to MIDAS ever again.
They just keep finding stuff to cost you money ... Like don't pass for light bulb for the plate .... Come on Add reply

Bf calls me I call Ken. I ask him what's up our car starts but now doesn't run. He tells me I need a tune up. I tell him no and ask him what he did. He tells me he can't talk to me, won't give me corp. number and hangs up on me. Ken then tells my bf I don't want to get sued maybe they put the plug wires on backwards so he switches them car runs ok bf. leaves. That night bf looks under the hood sees an ark at plug wires. He then takes it to another shop pay $200 to find out the wires have been cut and they didn't put any new part on our car. So we were charged for nothing and later we also found the part was only $80.

Had oil change on 3/5/13 and light came on 3/29/13. Checked with stick no oil this can't be. Been going to MIDAS for year, never no problem. The one I was going to closed down so wanted to stay with MIDAS. I went to one close to my job. What a mistake. Had to add 3 qt. I really thought they were reliable. So wrong. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 04/04/2013Add reply
