Excellent Service and Excellent Food

My husband and I went to Outback Steakhouse for Dinner on Saturday night. When we arrived the hostess was friendly and told us it would be about a 5-10 minute wait. We were OK with this and took the pager and went to sit in the bar to wait. We waited for over 20 minutes and looked around to find several empty tables. When I approached the hostess she stated that she must have made a mistake because her paper showed we were already seated.

We quickly took our seat at our table and promptly ordered. While we were waiting for our drinks, the manager came over and introduced himself. He then apologized for the mistake and the wait and offered us a free dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and our desert. The food was great and the experience will make us come back to enjoy Outback again.

Unbelievably Horrible Food

HERMITAGE, TENNESSEE -- The food we received from the Hermitage, TN location tonight was unbelievably HORRIBLE. We stopped dining regularly at Outback when the crawfish was taken out of dishes. However, we continued to eat Outback on occasion - until today. We will NEVER eat at Outback again and I am going to make sure everyone close to me bans Outback. I can not believe the decline in the quality of Outback's food. The steak I got tonight was the same thing they serve at Waffle House. We ordered curbside take away and we did not receive ONE satisfactory item. I am in shock at the food I received tonight.

What happened to Outback? I know I am only one person but I am going to make sure I get the word out every way I can about the Waffle House quality Steaks they are serving. Unbelievable. I am truly shocked at the food I received tonight. I didn't bother to call and complain because I'm sure they will think I am trying to get my money back or something but I am going to do everything I can to save other people from wasting their money at this place.

Very Ill

OXON HILL, MARYLAND -- I ate at the Outback in Oxon Hill, Maryland. I went here on Mother's Day with my mom. The silverware was sticky, the drink glasses dirty and the staff did not seem to care about hygiene at all. I spoke to the manager before I left, but once he found out that I was NOT asking for my money back he seemed not to care. I got home and within two hours of eating the ribeye, my stomach began churning and I got ill. I was ill all night with diarrhea and can only imagine the unclean, unsanitary conditions in that kitchen. This restaurant was horrible and not up to Outback standards. I will NEVER eat there again.

Not enough space

On March 20th this year we had a total of 19 people go to the Outback Steakhouse in Salisbury, Md. The event was going away get together for my Nephew who was leaving the following Monday for National Guard trainging. We called and ask if we could all sit together, they said that they could put tables side by side. This would have us together. When we finally got inside after a half hour or so wait - the tables would hold maybe six people at two round ones and then this tiny one for two people and the other five people had to sit at a booth. We were not happy campers.

I find that the restaurant has not the accommodation to handle a large dinner party. The restaurant was not built big enough inside. So far as our night of fun it wasn't enjoyed by all. Outback steakhouse contractors should check this type of thing out. We will not be going back and we are telling everyone that if you have a large party do not go to the Outback Steakhouses!

CONSISTENCY COUNTS

KANSAS CITY NORTH, MISSOURI -- Barry Rd & I-29 location continues to rank high on our list for consistent outstanding customer service, along with quality of food prep and delivery. My husband and I are partial to this restaurant because whenever we take his 93 y/o wheelchair bound mother there to eat, they always greet us with smiles on their faces and consistently make us feel welcome although sometimes the wheelchair can be a hindrance to their service. These young people make us feel welcome there every time!

Since my mother-in-law has crippling arthritis in her hands, it is next to impossible for her to use a steak knife. Though she tries, she only would eat one or two bites of steak. She did not want me or my husband to cut her steak for her at the table. The waiter saw she was having issues and asked her if he could assist her. He took her plate from the table and was back within a few minutes, the steak cut into small pieces for her. From that time on, we simply ask the waiter to cut her steak prior to serving her. They are always happy to accommodate our request.

We have never had that kind of service in a franchised restaurant. Each visit there ends with the manager on duty coming by every table for a thank you acknowledgement. The manager has always engaged us in small talk and we never felt as though she was rushed to move on to the next table. This restaurant understands the concept of how important their customers are to their business... a rarity in this day and age!

Watch Out for Your Safety Because Outback Won't.

SILVER SPRINGS, MARYLAND -- We went to the Outback Steak House on 13703 Georgia Ave, Silver Springs, MD 301-933-4385 a few months ago and there was a customer there that was very abusive and threatening other customers including us. The Manager doesn't care about what occurred. The manager on duty didn't do anything either. The customer was very abusive towards a number of customers including us. She was cursing at everyone and at one point the customer came after us and tried to strangle one of my family members.

At that point I advised the crazy customer/ suspect to back off and she was warned 3 times and which the suspect refused to comply and she was maced out and then was out for about an hour. We advised the host that we needed the manager right away before this got out of hand. She stated that there was no manager available at that time.

We later called the store to ask what they are going to do for us, and the manager stated they are only there to protect their employees and to serve food. What happened was our problem. I advised anyone thinking about going to the Outback Steak House on 13703 Georgia Ave, Silver Springs, MD 301-933-4385. I would think twice or more before you go there.

Immature and Rude Conduct

CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS -- My daughters and I went to Outback Steakhouse in Champaign, IL tonight to celebrate a birthday. We were hoping to have a great evening and chose Outback as the place to experience this. To our dismay, many of the staff were very rude to us. One of my daughters is disabled, is very small in stature and has to lay on the table to eat. One of the waiters took it upon himself to think that she was very hilarious looking and began to look in our direction to laugh.

We were the only ones seated the whole evening in the section. He proceeded to make trips to the back, point our table out and laugh with different staff members. By the time the meal was over our happy mood was beginning to wane. Enough was enough. One of my daughters had the manager come over and explained the situation. He said he was sorry, didn't know this was happening but was not very convincing. It was a happy celebration that turned bad. I was very disappointed in the actions of the employees at this particular establishment.

Cold Crab Stuffing on Top of Hot Tilapia and Too Salty Potatoes and Soapy Taste
By -

MENTOR, PENNSYLVANIA -- What a night. The margarita was actually sudsy and had a soapy taste. The potatoes were too salty and the crab stuffing on top of the tilapia fish fillet was refrigerator cold. Per the manager, the cook forgot to heat up the stuffing before placing it on top of the fish fillet. They apologized and offered to microwave my meal. Of course, I declined. The waitress and the manager were very nice and offered free desert etc., but there was no way I was going to eat anything out of that kitchen. This is my second and last trip there this year.

Need to rewrite the customer service script

We don't patronize Outback anymore. The service is deplorable. Why on earth do they hire 18 year old girls with snotty, rather be married to a rich man than do an honest day's work high school attitudes as hostesses?? We have been told it's only a 10 minute wait, but then it turns into a 20 - 25 minute wait. And the restaurant just opened. They aren't busy. But you say one word and are rewarded with what we now term the Outback Outrage attitude.

There are plenty of empty tables. We have been lied to about them calling out our name - we are standing right there. They didn't say our name once. We have seen them be hostile and rude to other customers, some of them elderly. And does the kitchen even know what is on the menu?? We have used the curbside pick up service, just to be short changed on the order, several times.

This has happened at Outbacks in California and Oregon, so it has to be the unspoken company ethic. There has to be a better way for a restaurant to make a profit. Outback, you aren't the only restaurant around. People work too hard for their money to waste it in your establishment. Outback, you are off the menu. Bad day, mate! Posers.
