One of the Worst Restaurants Ever Been To.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- My wife and I have a date night 2 to 3 times a week. I know she had been wanting Red Lobster for a while so we went to the Red Lobster on valley view just off the 95 for dinner. Not busy just average only 5 min wait 45 min serve time food came incorrect no salads. They said sorry we forgot they forgot my wife's shrimp scampi and my chicken was so over cooked it was like leather. For dessert we had the molten cookie and for a hot dessert the core was still frozen. All and all this food chain is forever removed off our list and will never go to from serves to food horrible and if there was a negative star id have given it to this place.

What I found is that most all chains have a very low level of satisfaction, when I looked at the % of visits I found satisfying. I expected that % to be around 90%, but in practice I found it to be 50% or lower. This was at all chains. So I stopped going to them. I go out less, and to better places. There, the level of satisfaction approaches 100%.

This worked for me - I highly recommend it. As far as Red Lobster - I last went there about 22 years ago and resolved to never go again.

Careful When Using Credit Charge Card
Posted by on
Rating: 2/51
WHITEHALL, PENNSYLVANIA -- Customers be careful charging your dinner at Red Lobster. Review your charge on your computer. We had given a generous tip & paid for our dinner on my Capital One Visa. Noticing a $2 (more) difference from my copy of the dinner bill and what has been posted on the computer.

I called the restaurant to inform the manager that we had dinner there 2 days ago, and told her about the error. It seems the original bill has already gone to Headquarters, & I had to deal with headquarters.
Its not the money but the principal. Knowing the red tape I had to deal with I decided not to contact Red Lobster's headquarters. Just think if this is done on all charged dinners.

Again watch your bill.

This is why I won't use any kind of card at a restaurant, cash only.

Have you contacted your credit card company?

Chinese Exclusion Act?

Rating: 1/51
LIVERPOOL, NEVADA -- So we went to Red Lobster for my daughter's birthday yesterday, and let me tell you, the service was ridiculous! First of all, they refused to seat us for a hour even though they told is fifteen minutes max and slowly seated every other patron in the lobby. Seriously? Not okay. Then, since we explicitly told them it was my daughter's birthday and we witnessed them giving a free slice of cake a song to two other birthday-celebrating patrons, what do we get? A bill and a nudge to go home. That's it, no cake, no song, no seats. Is it because we're Chinese? Is it because we look foreign? I have no idea but this is ridiculous. So if you are a minority, never, ever go to Red Lobster.

Smells like Mold and Dirty Laundry!

FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Walked in place smells like mold and dirty socks! Really needs a good cleaning place is very nasty! Had to move my seat three times to try to avoid smell! Had to sit just about all the way in the back to escape smell and when I left felt as if I needed a shower and change cloths! Will not return until place is under new management cause whoever is the GM now obviously needs fired and replaced with someone who knows what it takes to keep place clean and fresh smelling! If you plan ongoing to this place bring respirator you will need it! Save your time and money go elsewhere! They just built a Bonefish Grill go there! Red Lobsters over 30 yes old probably needs torn down and rebuilt!

Total Disappointment

DECATUR, ALABAMA -- On Jan. 4, 2014 a friend and I went to Red Lobster for dinner, what a mistake that turned out to be. The food was not the normal standard for such a prestigious place. Most of the menu has been downsized and the food was what one would expect to find at a low class chain. Disappointed is not exactly the correct word to use for the experience we had. The waitress was nice enough, however the food was lousy, not to mention the price was outrageous for what they served. They have changed the inside dining rooms from what was an experience itself to a run of the mill plain ole table and chairs with no motif, the lobster tank was nasty...and they think people would want to eat one of those....sorry to say I won't be back !

I'm not sure if I would call Red Lobster "prestigious". It's always been a mid-tier chain restaurant. It's where you go if you want seafood, but want something nicer that Captain D's or Long John Silvers.

Waiting 1 Hour for Seating With Half Full Restaurant
Posted by on
Rating: 2/51
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS -- On Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 my family of 10 took me to dinner for birthday. I arrived first asking the Hostess for table for 10. Her respond was, you will have a one hour wait. I asked why because business was slow and I seen tables everywhere. They had closed off one side of the restaurant so you waited the one hour or ate else where. Are you serious? I am in the restaurant business and a known restaurant like Red Lobster, in the holiday season and normally a packed place, you are told to wait an hour is totally unacceptable. No way of communicating with some of my party, to have them go somewhere else, we waited and actually enjoyed the meal but still couldn't forget the welcome we got.

You never tell a customer what they don't want to hear. You kill them with respect and kindness. Service was excellent and meal was outstanding, but closing down half of restaurant and telling people either wait for tables to clear or they couldn't accommodate you is very unprofessional. Never in my life have ever put a complaint to a restaurant, but my feelings are this should have never happened.

You're assuming that because the restaurant was half full, that they could accommodate your large party without prior notice. Did you consider that perhaps they didn't have enough staffing to handle a full restaurant and that's why they had part of the restaurant closed off? If they had say 50% of the restaurant full but only had 50% of a full staff compliment on hand, then they were effectively running at capacity.

"You never tell a customer what they don't want to hear. "

Sometimes you have to, it's better to be truthful about the issue then it is to B.S. them

"but closing down half of restaurant and telling people either wait for tables to clear or they couldn't accommodate you is very unprofessional."

What would you have them do then? If they couldn't accommodate then they it is what it is. Would you have rather they lied to you? To me that would be much more unprofessional than just being straight up with you.

Furthermore, a party of 10 is pretty large, I would've called ahead to insure that they would have a table(s) available.

Worst Sea Food Ever
Posted by on
Rating: 1/51
HARLEM NY, NEW YORK -- I placed a order at the new Red Lobster in Harlem. This was the worst seafood my husband and I ever had. We had the "Admiral Feast" which consisted of scallops, shrimp, fish and clams. Everything was hard and clearly you can see it was pre packed frozen products. I will never eat there again. The food was horrible. Everything tasted the same and too much breading.

What a waste never again use fresh products I should have gone around the corner to "Joes crab shack". Way better than that junk they call seafood at Red Lobster in Harlem. Get it together you can't fool black people too long...

Awful Experience, Don't Eat Here!

GILBERT, ARIZONA -- I vow to never return to Red Lobster. First off, it took a decent amount of time to put in our drink order, and the waiter did not take our food order at that time despite us being ready. Secondly, the entire meal was over 2 hours long- which I find to be way too long. Thirdly, my meal was terrible. I order Parmesan crusted chicken Alfredo with broccoli. The broccoli was practically raw! And the Alfredo tasted more like gross Mac n' cheese than Alfredo. Lastly, the waiter was inattentive and the music was obnoxious, for a place that is supposed to be somewhat classy I found it to be much less than that. I course though that is simply my opinion. I will say the best thing of the night was the strawberry lemonade which was delicious, although the straw for it was too short al every time I want a sip I had to stick my hand in the glass to retrieve it. I officially hate Red Lobster.

Overpriced Shrimp, Lowest Quality Available
Posted by on
Rating: 1/51
FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE -- I have not been to Red Lobster in over 20 years due to the mismatch between the food and the price. I can get $18 dinners at J Alexander and have an upscale dinner in an upscale atmosphere. What I had at Red Lobster was coconut shrimp made with "popcorn shrimp", forget tasting any shrimp; fried shrimp cold that tasted like it was from a frozen dinner and microwaved; and shrimp scampi made with 12 shrimp I could buy in a supermarket at $3.99 per pound. If you are going to charge upscale prices, then serve upscale food.

I have had better quality seafood at a street vender. It is insulting for a restaurant to have such low quality food and charge so much for it. Save your money and eat at White Castle.

The Treating Of Disabled People
Posted by on
Rating: 2/51
MECHANICSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- On Tuesday June 25th we stopped in Red Lobster for a meal. Our server was great. While we were there a group of 4 people hard of hearing or no hearing they were signing as they sat there, came into the restaurant they sat for at least 5 to 8 minutes. When I asked my server if she was their waitress and she said no. At that time a server came to them. She got their drink order and two times while we were sitting there the server gave the one woman the wrong drink. When they got their salads they finally got rolls. I thought this was disrespectful to disabled people. I hope it doesn't happen much.

If it was busy, a 5-8 minute wait isn't hugely excessive IMHO, I've waited longer before in busy restaurants. As for the wrong drink order, if the people at the other table were Deaf and their server wasn't familiar with ASL (and he/she probably wasn't) then there would've been a communications barrier and if the worst that came out of it was someone getting the wrong drink, then that's actually not too bad.

I don't see anything "disrespectful" here.
clutzycook on 2013-07-02:
Is it possible that it was just a mistake?
trmn8r on 2013-07-02:
It would be interesting to know how the people in the other party felt about their experience.

Based on what you wrote, I don't see anything wrong. 5 to 8 minutes is a short time to wait at many chain restaurants, and mistakes happen.
ok4now on 2013-07-02:
If a restaurant is busy a 5 to 8 minute wait time is reasonable. Did you expect special treatment because members of your group were hearing impaired?
Nohandle on 2013-07-02:
Actually the hearing impaired individuals were NOT with the OP's table. The OP simply observed what was going on if I read the review correctly.
CU on 2013-07-02:
I suspect they'd be offended by you calling them DISABLED, then they would be by poor wait service.
