Sleep Train Spectacular Customer Service!
By -

DALY CITY, CALIFORNIA -- I haven't been using this site very often because I found a site I have been obsessed with and the people are nicer. I thought I would write a review on the spectacular customer service I received today at Sleep Train. In July, my parents purchased me a new IKEA platform bed to get me started living by myself. I didn't ask them to do so of course; they offered. I decided I hated it because it is too hard, it makes my whole body ache especially my knees and my back. I am not one of those people who feels like I am sleeping when I am on my back and I find it extremely painful to sleep on my stomach. I have some scoliosis and I don't want to make it worse.

Well I was finally able to get over to Sleep Train which is only a five minute drive from my house. I received THE best customer service. This really nice Russian guy named Peter helped me. I told him, "I have an IKEA platform bed and I would like to inquire about a new mattress." He said "Oh yes of course! I know a lot of people who have come here because they are not happy with their IKEA beds! They aren't very comfortable." I told him I prefer soft mattresses because I sleep on my sides only.

He said, "good idea! What price range were you looking for?" I told him between $600-$800 because it's only a full size (not a queen or king) and that's what I believe is the perfect price for a durable full mattress. Again he thought that was a good idea and told me they had beds for those exact prices. He walked over with me and showed me six different beds. He stood with me while I went on the beds and said, "Don't worry about messing them up with your shoes."

The first two mattresses were horrible because they were still too hard as rocks and if I bought those then it would totally defeat the purpose and I might as well just keep the IKEA bed. The second two were slightly softer but still not what I was looking for. That's a process of elimination between those four. That narrowed it down to that last two; one of them was just a basic bed that was not at all hard as a rock, just like I wanted and the other one was a Simmons Princeton with a very soft pillow top. I told him I liked the Simmons with the super comfy pillow top.

He told me to, I don't have to make my decision right now that people stay there for an hour. "I have good news about the Simmons Princeton with the pillow top! We have forty of them left and because of that I am not going to put sales tax on and you don't need a box spring because it will be tall enough to fit on your platform from IKEA!"

Another reason I told him I didn't like the IKEA bed was because it was too close to the floor! That was the only bed (and will definitely be the last) that was that close to the floor. I like being high up. I was in utter disbelief! "Are you serious?! I don't have to pay salestax?! OMG, thank you!!!" "The bed will be $150 but it will last you ten years and it sounds like you will be happier with it!" I still tried all six beds again for five minutes each just to make sure my original thoughts stood and they did. Thank you so much Peter and Sleep Train. :)

10 Year No Warranty From Sleep Train
By -

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA -- We purchased what we thought was a very high end Sealy Mattress from Sleep Train with a 10 year warranty "no matter what happens" - yeah right! After 2 years of light work the pillow top $2500 mattress sank and had two big indentations in it. One from my wife, all of 110 lbs and myself 210 lbs. We called and Sleep Train sent someone out to check it. The guy checked it and said it was not enough to replace it. The way they check is to measure across the top and look for the drop on the pillow top derrrr trying laying on it and feel the craters loser.

He said it was not enough and needed to be at least 3/8 of and inch more. We complained to deaf ears. Sealy said not their problem - "go back to where you bought it" and Sleep Train said "not enough of a dent to replace it - try again when it gets worse." The manager at the local branch told us to jump up and down on it to get the extra 3/8 of and inch?? Wow. I should have recorded that conversation.

Well we put up with sore backs, useless tickets to a bad night sleep and called 2 months later to get it re-measured. (No we did not jump on it.) The guy came out and looked at it and said "Oh I am sorry there is a small stain on the mattress so your warranty is now void!" Loser!!! So now we have a mattress worth nothing.

Sleep Train would do nothing, manufacturer nothing, so we gave the mattress to a friend in need after cleaning of the chocolate milk stain from our kids. If you have a car with a powertrain warranty do they void it if the car has a scratch on it? NOT! Stay away from Sleep Train - they are scam artists, big advertisers and even bigger no customer service ripoffs. Went to Sam's and I got a $500 mattress with a real 10 year warranty.

Beware Of The Company: All Hype And Fluff And Nothing Substantial

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- This is for all of the Sleep Train company stores, especially HR and training management: I was going to buy from them but not any longer. My daughter, a single mom of two small children, quit her job because of promises by Sleep Train for a better future. She put her all into the training. Passed all the written tests. Purchased new wardrobe and spent tons of money driving to San Leandro for training. Then she passed the written final but one curve ball landed her out the door.

Now after having only been employed for one month there is little hope for unemployment. If she had been a slacker I would have understood. She has been left high and dry by this so called "employee owned and friendly" company. Beware buyers and job seekers. I was all set to go in and buy a new set for our family, but "hell no!" I will go to Costco even Macy's before I would step foot across their doors - do not go to them. Read online reviews that tell of the rotten company from their own disillusioned employees. This place is not a good company. At least do not quit your job to give them a try. Beware!

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!
By -

LA MESA, CALIFORNIA -- My wife, son and I went to Sleep Pain mid Sept 2010 after seeing what we liked at Costco. We wanted to make sure we were making a good choice so we stopped into Sleep Pain. We saw something similar but was little more but we liked the 100 day Bull Warranty. Not only was the bed too tall when we got the set, the mattress was way too firm. We tried it for a couple weeks and went back to Sleep Pain and was told to try the shorter Box Spring (which was never offered as an option before).

We were also duped into keeping the mattress since they said it will soften up. We had to sign a paper saying we can no longer exchange (we assumed it was just for the box spring and was never informed by the sales person that it was for the whole order, which we found out the hard way).

OK height problem fixed. Bed still hard after another 2 weeks. My wife stopped in after work to tell them we need to just exchange the mattress for a softer one and we'll pay the price difference. Well, the sales person now says we can no longer exchange. We never exchanged the "mattress," which is worded in their 100 day warranty. I called their headquarters with the same results. They will not budge. The absolutely care nothing about Customer Satisfaction. They are absolute Crooks! We now have a $550 bed set which is useless and we only had it a month. STAY AWAY FROM SLEEP PAIN at all costs. It doesn't matter which location.

Taking Advantage of the Elderly

SACRAMENTO CA, CALIFORNIA -- My 83 year old mother went to get a mattress at Sleep Train. She has an elevated bed due asthma. She asked what mattress would best work for her bed. The sales MAN sold her the most expensive Tempur-Pedic - told her that was the only one that would work - not true. My mother was very upset - wrote a letter of complaint to the CEO who did not even have the decency to answer elder abuse. I would never buy anything from Sleep Train.

CALIFORNIA -- I am appalled that you, Sleep Train, would discontinue advertising on Rush Limbaugh or any other program due to complaints reported by the hosts comments. I can assure you that neither I nor any other persons I can talk to will ever be a customer in your store again. I have been a customer for some time, but never again.

Do not buy from Sleep Train
By -

CORTE MADERA, CALIFORNIA -- I have had numerous issues when I purchased my bed from Sleep Train. Do not trust the sales person, they will do a bait and switch on you. We have complained 3 times on them and to this date they have done nothing to correct the issue. The sales promotion says "No interest for 12 months" but what you get when you sign the paperwork is different. BEWARE - THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.
