10 Year No Warranty From Sleep Train
Posted by on
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA -- We purchased what we thought was a very high end Sealy Mattress from Sleep Train with a 10 year warranty "no matter what happens" yeah right !

After 2 years of light work the pillow top $2500 mattress sank and had two big indentations in it. One from my wife, all of 110 lbs and myself 210 lbs. We called and Sleep Train sent someone out to check it. The guy checked it and said it was not enough to replace it. The way they check is to measure across the top and look for the drop on the pillow top derrrr trying laying on it and feel the craters loser. He said it was not enough and needed to be at least 3/8 of and inch more. We complained to deaf ears. Sealy said not there problem go back to where you bought it and Sleep train said not enough of a dent to replace it try again when it gets worse. The manager at the local Branch told us to jump up and down on it to get the extra 3/8 of and inch.?? Wow I should have recorded that conversation.

Well we put up with sore backs useless tickets to a bad night sleep and called 2 months later to get it re-measured. (No we did not jump on it) The guy came out and looked at it and said " Oh I am sorry there is a small stain on the mattress so your warranty is now void !!!!!! Loser !!! So now we have a a mattress worth nothing.

Sleep Train would do nothing, manufacturer nothing, so we gave the mattress to a friend in need after cleaning of the chocolate milk stain from our kids.

If you have a car with a power train warranty do they void it if the car has a scratch on it ???? NOT !

Stay away from Sleep Train they are scam artists big advertisers and even bigger no customer service rip off's.

Went to Sams and a got a $500 mattress with a real 10 year warranty.

I never understood why stains void the warranty. Used mattresses can't be resold and have to be discarded. So what difference does it make if it's stained?

Even if you jumped on the mattress to get the extra 3/8" before it was stained, I'm willing to bet they would have given you another excuse for not honoring the warranty.

Beware Of The Company: All Hype And Fluff And Nothing Substantial

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- This is for all of the Sleep Train company stores, especially HR and training management: I was going to buy from them but not any longer. My daughter, a single mom of two small children, quit her job because of promises by Sleep Train for a better future. She put her all into the training. Passed all the written tests. Purchased new wardrobe and spent tons of money driving to San Leandro for training. Then she passed the written final but one curve ball landed her out the door. Now after having only been employed for one month there is little hope for unemployment. If she had been a slacker I would have understood. She has been left high and dry by this so called "employee owned and friendly " company. Beware buyers and job seekers. I was all set to go in and buy a new set for our family, but "hell no!" I will go to Costco even Macy's before I would step foot across their doors do not go to them. Read online reviews that tell of the rotten company from their own disillusioned employees.

This place is not a good company. At least do not quit your job to give them a try. Beware!!!!

Taking Advantage of the Elderly

SACRAMENTO CA, CALIFORNIA -- My 83 year old mother went to get a mattress at Sleep Train she has an elevated bed due asthma. She asked what mattress would best work for her bed. The sales MAN sold her the most expensive tempsra pedic told her that was the only one that would work not true. my mother was very upset wrote a letter of complaint to the CEO who did not even have the decency to answer elder abuse I would never buy anything from Sleep Train.

I think your mother should call up the manager of the store where the sale took place, if they don't do anything escalate to the district manager.

Very rarely do complaints like this even make it to the CEO because their emails are screened by a secretary.
Magarozzo on 2012-08-10:
She did all of that they just blew it off they got their money they don't care about an old lady Her comfort or her or her health despicable behavior never buy from them
jonthethird on 2012-08-10:
Each Sleep Train is a franchise: they advertise as a small, local mom and pop, but are another large corporation.
Magarozzo on 2012-08-10:
Bottom line nothing will be done unless she pays out more money and takes her family to protect her from these commission vultures. Don't understand how sales people can live with themselves by taking advantage of an elderly woman
Virginia Harris on 2012-11-05:
I'm not surprised that Sleep Train would have no compunctions about ripping off the elderly--they've endorsed Arco Arena (Power Balance) who OUTRAGEOUSLY rips off children. "Sleep Train" signs are plastered all over the Arena as one enters.

I took my little grandsons to Disney on Ice--cost: on 11/4/12--$40.00 per ticket plus $12.00 parking. The super rip-off and exploitation of children has to do with the cost of so called "refreshments." I bought 2 popcorns (in a cheap plastic bucket)and a ice cone (in a cheap, plastic Mickey Mouse--so-called "souvenir" cup and it cost me $48.00. Absurd. I looked around me and watched the rip-off artists peddling their over-priced products throughout the stadium with hundreds of children screaming "Mommy--I want one!!--or something to that effect. To add insult to injury, a Security guy frisks everybody a the Arena door--even examining purses--confiscating any refreshments that might be smuggled, thereby reducing their opportunities for financial exploitation.

Next time, I'll use it as a teaching opportunity for my grandsons. I'll teach them that we'll go forego refreshments at the Arena--go to Taco Bell after the show and then drop by Loaves and Fishes on the way home. We'll calculate the required Arena expenditure and give that amount to the homeless (in this case, $48.00).

I need a new mattress, but you can bet I'll never buy one from Sleep Train.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!

LA MESA, CALIFORNIA -- My wife, son and I went to Sleep Pain mid Sept 2010 after seeing what we liked at Costco. We wanted to make sure we were making a good choice so we stopped into Sleep Pain. We saw something similar but was little more but we liked the 100 day Bull Warranty. Not only was the bed too tall when we got the set, the mattress was way too firm. We tried it for a couple weeks and went back to Sleep Pain and was told to try the shorter Box Spring (which was never offered as an option before). We were also duped into keeping the mattress since they said it will soften up. We had to sign a paper saying we can no longer exchange (we assumed it was just for the box spring and was never informed by the sales person that it was for the whole order, which we found out the hard way).

OK height problem fixed. Bed still hard after another 2 weeks. My wife stopped in after work to tell them we need to just exchange the mattress for a softer one and we'll pay the price difference. Well, the sales person now says we can no longer exchange. We never exchanged the "mattress," which is worded in their 100 day warranty. I called their headquarters with the same results. They will not budge. The absolutely care nothing about Customer Satisfaction. They are absolute Crooks! We now have a $550 bed set which is useless and we only had it a month. STAY AWAY FROM SLEEP PAIN at all costs. It doesn't matter which location.

They made sure that when you signed the 'no exchange' paper that they would no longer have to bother with their warranty or you. At least you've warned other consumers to stay away from this sleazy company.
Mattress man on 2011-06-02:
They tell the sales people to be vague with the customers when it comes to the one time exchange. Don't say any more than you have to. You are lucky you got a set for less than $600 especially if it is comparable to what Costco carries. They are on us sales people to talk you into a cheaper bed instead of discounting the already overpriced beds they sell. If you shop around you will find the same or similar mattress for almost half price at other stores. And don't fall for them telling you to check out Mattress Discounters. It's the same ownership.

Sleep Train Spectacular Customer Service!
Posted by on
DALY CITY, CALIFORNIA -- I haven't been using this site very often because I found a site I have been obsessed with and the people are nicer.

I thought I would write a review on the spectacular customer service I received today at Sleep Train. In July, my parents purchased me a new IKEA platform bed to get me started living by myself. I didn't ask them to do so of course; they offered. I decided I hated it because it is too hard, it makes my whole body ache especially my knees and my back. I am not one of those people who feels like I am sleeping when I am on my back and I find it extremely painful to sleep on my stomach. I have some scoliosis and I don't want to make it worse.

Well I was finally able to get over to Sleep Train which is only a five minute drive from my house. I received THE best customer service. This really nice Russian guy named Peter helped me. I told him, "I have an IKEA platform bed and I would like to inquire about a new mattress." He said "Oh yes of course! I know a lot of people who have come here because they are not happy with their IKEA beds! They aren't very comfortable." I told him I prefer soft mattresses because I sleep on my sides only. He said, "good idea! What price range were you looking for?" I told him between $600-$800 because its only a full size (not a queen or king) and that's what I believe is the perfect price for a durable full mattress. Again he thought that was a good idea and told me they had beds for those exact prices. He walked over with me and showed me six different beds. He stood with me while I went on the beds and said, "Don't worry about messing them up with your shoes." The first two mattresses were horrible because they were still too hard as rocks and if I bought those then it would totally defeat the purpose and I might as well just keep the IKEA bed. The second two were slightly softer but still not what I was looking for. That's a process of elimination between those four. That narrowed it down to that last two; one of them was just a basic bed that was not at all hard as a rock, just like I wanted and the other one was a Simmons Princeton with a very soft pillowtop. I told him I liked the Simmons with the super comfy pillow top. He told me to, "I don't have to make my decision right now that people stay there for an hour. I have good new about the Simmons Princeton with the pillowtop! We have forty of them left and because of that I am not going to put sales tax on and you don't need a boxspring because it will be tall enough to fit on your platform from IKEA!" Another reason I told him I didn't like the IKEA bed was because it was too close to the floor! That was the only bed (and will definitely be the last)that was that close to the floor. I like being high up. I was in utter disbelief! "Are you serious?! I don't have to pay salestax?! OMG,thank you!!!" "The bed will be $150 but it will last you ten years and it sounds like you will be happier with it!"

I still tried all six beds again for five minutes each just to make suer my original thoughts stood and they did.

Thank you so much Peter and Sleep Train :)

Sparticus on 2006-11-19:
I think folks on this site are generally very helpful, or at least most try to be. The disagreements/arguments that occur are pretty common on any website these days. People don't always agree, and that stems all kinds of interesting debates... ;-)
Sparticus on 2006-11-19:
Good review btw...
Nohandle on 2006-11-19:
I agree Sparticus, the disagreements/arguments create an interesting debate on many occasions if the debate is allowed to continue. Many times, however, it does get somewhat nasty towards the poster. Agreed?
Sparticus on 2006-11-19:
Yes, there is a line that can be crossed sometimes. Which is why the moderators step in on occasion and remove posts. But I think we all agree that no system or site can be perfect if they allow free opinions and speech. At least not in a large open forum where you have so many conflicting opinions. I agree I would like to see more courtesy towards posters as well. They are taking their time to share their story... and deserve at least that.
Nohandle on 2006-11-19:
Sparticus, I think we are on the same page here. I enjoy a diversity of opinion. If we all agreed on everything, what would be the point? We could all join up on a particular site, sit around, hold hands and all agree with each other. That would be about as interesting as watching grass grow.

Unless a particular post is obvious as being absurd, I'm for giving those folks the benefit of the doubt. I enjoy the responses.

Anonymous on 2006-11-20:
MollyDolly do you even know which people you are referring to when you are talking about the jerks? Little girl, coming on here and calling people jerks is not a nice way to make friends and it is not a grown up thing to do it just makes you sound like someone else on here who call him/her self the "most trusted advisor" and nobody likes PWP!

And Hugh, she is obviously one of those people who if you do not agree with them, then you are a jerk. Well you are far from being a jerk. I think we all know who the "JERK" is. clutzycook on 2012-03-04:
It was a business decision. RL's comments were seen as misogynistic and inflammatory. Sleep Train and the other companies who pulled their advertisements did not feel it was a good idea to continue to be associated with the program.

Businesses can choose to advertise with anyone they choose to just as you can choose not to shop there. I am sure the rash of complaints and hate mail they would receive if they kept on with it would outweigh whatever fall back they will get from them pulling support.

"No skin off Rush's nose, his contract is good until 2016"

Imus had a contract.
lexophiliac on 2012-03-05:
Rush does not work for CBS as Imus did Venice. His program is on Clear Channel and owned by Romney’s old company Bain Capital, who is standing behind Rush 100% for having the nerve to say what many were thinking but dared not.
Venice09 on 2012-03-05:
I was only trying to make the point that contracts are made to be broken. It can and does happen.
lexophiliac on 2012-03-05:
Rush has a $400 million dollar/8 year contract Venice. Do you see the problematic nightmare for the company that has been struggling if they were to pull him off the air? Breaking that contract, or even a forced settlement, could very well break the company.

Limbaugh controls 25 percent of the ad slots for each hour of his program, which represents ad dollars that never end up in Clear Channel's coffers. Limbaugh also earns extra by hawking products on the air. Again, that's money that goes into his pocket, not Clear Channel's.
Venice09 on 2012-03-05:
Then why do you suppose he apologized? I couldn't care less about Limbaugh or his contract. Again, I was referring to contracts not always being a sure thing. Never say never.
lexophiliac on 2012-03-05:
I suppose he apologized because it was in the party's best interest as well as his own legal interest.
jonthethird on 2012-03-05:
He apologized for lowering his standards in this case, and acting like Bill Maher
lexophiliac on 2012-03-06:

Do not buy from Sleep Train
Posted by on
CORTE MADERA, CALIFORNIA -- I have had numerous issues when I purchased my bed from Sleep Train. Do not trust the sales person, they will do a bait and switch on you. We have complained 3 times on them and to this date they have done nothing to correct the issue. The sales promotion says "No interest for 12 months" but what you get when you sign the paperwork is different.

BEWARE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.....

what is the exact issue?

the 12 months no interest means it must be piad off by then. if it goes over 1 day they hit you with all the interest at once.
Anonymous on 2009-09-06:
The no interest promotion could have also been for items over a certain amount of money.

You shouldn't have agreed to buy the bed if you didn't like the terms of the contract.
Anonymous on 2009-09-06:
So, they advertise a certain bed, and when you get there they say that bed is out of stock or try and get you to buy a more expensive bed because the one you want is inferior? That's the only way the company you dealt with could be pulling a bait and switch.
PepperElf on 2009-09-06:
yeah the complaint is too vague to be of any use
Ytropious on 2009-09-06:
Bearkat, sometimes it is bait and switch, and some times it's legitimate. Like if the only bed they had that was remotely similar to the sale one was more expensive, that's just showing the customer what their options are. Most of the time anything remotely similar IS going to be more expensive then the sale item because of just that, the item is on sale and if something similar were cheaper there's be no point of a sale.
Anonymous on 2009-09-06:
If a bed company doesn't have what I want, I'm not about to settle. Bed's are f-in expensive... no way am I going to buy something that's not going to fit my needs.
