The Worst Bacon I Have Ever Bought
Posted by on
Rating: 1/51
SPRINGDALE, ALASKA -- The fat content was 90% in a one pound package. How can this company be proud of distributing such an inferior product. I bought two packages of this bacon, but I won't be buying any more. The price is way to high and the actual amount of pork meat is way to small. The package looks great in the store, but the surprise you get at home is very disappointing. I will look on any package of meat in the future for the words TSD Sales and Distribution, if I find those words, I will not purchase that product.

Corn King Lean Ham

SRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- I bought a so-called lean Corn King ham. I don't think they know what lean means. it was so full of fat I couldn't eat it. I gave it to my dogs over a 5 day period so they wouldn't get the runs from so much fat in it !!!!!!!!!!!

Bacon?
Posted by on
Rating: 1/51
SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- I bought two packs of bacon that was gross. Fat, fat and more fat. Try to contact them (if you can find the phone number). Do your self a favor and buy bacon from your butcher not from a discount store that sells the slauter house scraps as bacon.

American style bacon is often mostly fat. European bacon is mostly meat. try finding a butcher that can hand cut a more select style of bacon.
trmn8r on 2013-02-12:
I would never ever buy bacon, or any meat for that matter, from a "discount store". There are a lot of complaints about TSD products. I've seen complaints about both bacon and hamburger - as a regular hamburger consumer, the vision of a huge clump of fat in my hamburger grosses me out.

When I buy bacon I try to inspect the back critically (those pound packages), and if it looks like it is mostly fat I move on.
ok4now on 2013-02-12:
The only bacon I buy is Oscar Mayer Selects Smoked Uncured. It contains no artificial preservatives and NO nitrates or nitrites added. It is low sodium 270mg and has very little fat. It is sold only in 12oz not the standard 16oz but the price is the same so you're getting less product. Shop Rite recently had this on sale at $3.00 a pack so I stocked up. If you like bacon you will love this!

FAT FAT FAT

SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- I opened a 1 lb package of Bacon and was totally turned off by the fat portion of each slice. Four cooked slices produced approximately 1/3 cup of grease. I purchased 4 packages of product and had similar results.

Bar code = 0 74700 1003 2.

Corn King Bacon Fat
Posted by on
Rating: 1/51
SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- I bought Corn King bacon distributed by TSD Sales and Distribution, barely received any bacon, mostly fat, at least 7/8 of the package. Will always look now at who is distributing and packaging. Will never buy again from TSD, they should be closed down. I have never complained about a food product enough to sit down and write a complaint, but I paid for this and literally received 1/8 of the cost I paid.

From what I have seen on this site about Corn King brands I am glad they are not sold in my area.

Not to mention it says there's approximately 9 servings at 2 slices a piece which would be 18 slices and me both of the packages I bought only had 11 slices. So you're not getting your moneys worth out of the quality or the quantity

Colonial Bacon- HORRIBLE!!! Don't Waste Your Money!

SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- In this 1 lb. package of bacon, I can tell you that 9/10 of it is fat. Sickening, a tiny strip of meat on each slice. Does this company have any type of QC for their products??? I will not be wasting my money on this again.

isn't American style bacon all fat anyway?
onlooker on 2012-07-19:
Well now you know their style of bacon. If you live in an area with shopping options, you can go back to a more meat brand.

Mad you just reminded of the commercial "So why Sizzle Fat? Sizzlean." and to answer your question, yes.

You could call Tyson Sales & Distribution at (479) 290-4000 to tell them what you encountered. Being as Tyson is a multinational company that sells everything from human food products to animal feeds, I'm not sure how much attention they'll give it. To see what other human food and brand names they use(such as Wright or Corn King), go to http://www.tysonfoodservice.com/products.aspx
Wanda Gilman on 2012-06-23:
I thought I was buying bacon to eat, not half a lb. of fat! Was salty too. By the time I trim off the fat not much was left. Never again buying that brand, "Ole Carolina".

Dirty chicken breasts and 2 male hairs!
Posted by on
I have been buying this chicken for about 2 years without any complaints until tonight. About 3/4ths of my chicken breasts had weird blue and black flecks over top of it like someone grabbed them with dirty gloves.

I also found two male beard hairs within the package. one on top with the paint flecks and one underneath the chicken.

I think I have lost my appetite to ever buy this product again!

how can you prove where the hairs came from, and what gender?

did you contact the manufacturer??
Mrs.Cole on 2011-03-27:
EEewww!!!... I don't think it matters what kind of hairs they are... if they are short and curly... Aammm... let's just say they are beard hairs and leave it at that.
Anonymous on 2011-03-27:
Hairy breasts. Again, that's just...wrong.
old fart on 2011-03-27:
One can only hope that they are beard hairs and nothing more!
CrazyRedHead on 2011-03-28:
I don't think that there is anything I can say here that won't sound completely and utterly wrong.

Today we bought some chicken and found a long black hair under one of the breast

Bad Bacon
Posted by on
SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- I purchased 2 1# packages of Corn King Bacon last week. Through the "window" it looked OK. I opened one package today for breakfast and found blood dripping inside the package and dark red blood spots on the bacon. I have never purchased bacon with blood inside the package. I could not cook it...very unpleasant to look at. I am very disappointed as I am retired and have to bargain shop to make ends meet. Having to throw away food, breaks my heart. I won't ever buy a Corn King product again, as I cannot take the chance of it being bad. I am going to write to the company to see if they will, hopefully, reimburse me for this awful bacon.

It's quite possible that it was not handled properly by the store selling the product -- maybe it sat out in a box in the aisle for too long before they stocked the shelves.
PepperElf on 2010-06-28:
I'd suggest seeing if you can find bacon in clear packages - though it might be pricier

and if you still have the package you might be able to bring it back to the store
jktshff1 on 2010-06-28:
The problem you are going to have getting reimbursed is proof of purchase, unless you kept the package with bar code and your receipt.
thebarber on 2012-02-22:
I purchased a one pound package of corn-king bacon
thankfully the store has other brands. I will be checking to see if TSD Sales and Distribution is on the package, if so I will leave it where is.
sheila on 2013-02-20:
the bad HICKORY SMOKED BACON , OLD CAROLINA bacon is made from ( TYSON FOODS) THE PHONE TO CONSUMER AFFAIRS IS 1-800-643-3410 THEY WILL TAKE ALL OF THE IMFORNATION FROM THE PACKAGES, AND TELL YOU TO MAIL THE( BAR CODES)FROM ALL THE PACKAGES (CUT THEM OUT) AND WHEN THEY RECEIVE THEM THEN THEY WILL ISSUE A REFUND. I hope this helps
R. Kahle on 2013-03-19:
We fried up Thorn Apple Valley Bacon which turned into a pan of grease and shrivelled up chitterlings, not bacon . It was barely smoked, half cured salt pork. I fed it to my dog. TSD apparently bought out the Detroit area company and the quality is now garbage. Never buy it again

I bought a pound of their ground beef amd bite into a bone and broke my tooth. I now have to get a 1200 dollar crown. GREAT FOOD ??? >:(
Martha on 2013-11-07:
This is the worst bacon we have ever cooked. It wasn't even a decent slice of it to cook. It was more like the bottom of the barrel and thrown in a bag and sealed shut. It smoked the whole house and stunk while cooking. I don't know how you process your stuff but this was the worst. If it was my company I would be ashamed to sell any thing like this. Sorry I won't buy this bacon again. I don't want anything for this. Your inspectors just need to know and inspect it a whole lot more closely. Thank You for your time. Martha
