Outback Steakhouse - They Say You Can Win a Free Meal on Facebook Tell How Much You Love Them and Post It and Then You Don't Get a Thing I Mean Nothing

ETOWN, KENTUCKY -- I think it's wrong for Outback Steakhouse to have you fill out surveys and tell you to post it to say how much you love it for everbody to read it, then you don't get anything that they said you would get,a free Outback Steakhouse meal.

I have done some of those surveys before, and at the end they want me to subscribe to things I don't want...so, I just click off it.

I know there are offers to copy and paste things or 'Like' certain things for those Facebook coins you can use on games and I never got anything...but once you copy and past the message, a message is automatically added as if I wrote it saying, 'This really works, I got 500 FB credits'...yeah, I fell for that ONCE and never again. Now I ignore it when I see others posting that message because I know they didn't write that message and most likely never got their credits either. Just a way for companies to get their grubby little hands on people's info to add them to their spam mailing list.

D.B. Excellent point. All this does is give Outback free advertising at your expense but they offer you nothing in return. I learned my lesson about responding to surveys the hard way. They want your I.P. address to sell and spam you. I refuse to play their game and don't respond.

Exactly Ok4Now, it's just like those 'Free IQ' tests, you go through the entire test and at the end of it, they want your Email address to send you your results...LOL...my IQ is high enough to know better than to give it to them.

They don't say everyone who responds gets a free meal. What the say is you MAY win a free meal. They receive vast numbers of these responses every day. The odds of you winning is based on the number of entries, just like any other drawing. I am sorry, but you are being unrealistic if you believe that you have been wronged because your number has not come up. Keep trying and good luck.

I think Starlord may be on the right track, only b/c that was my first thought.

What surprised me is the other comments refer to a practice I was unaware of. I have done restaurant surveys, but none that are posted publicly. If Outback is soliciting comments that are to be posted on FB or elsewhere, they SHOULD give out free meals to every person that posts a positive comment (:

The whole concept of "Social Media" has been blown out of proportion. Too many companies have no idea what it can really do for their businesses, and, as such, they do cheesy/misleading promotions like the OP describes.

Based on the OP's experience, I would say Outback is behind in its marketing efforts, and it needs to hire some new pros to move them forward.
