MASSACHUSETTS -- First off the pull tab broke so I used a can opener which made a mess then we tried the sardines, absolutely terrible, the fish tasted bad, almost rotten. I've had other Chicken of the Sea products and they generally are of poor quality, why does this company produce such crap. I'm surprised that it is owned by a Thai company, the quality seems more in line with crappy Chinese products.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I bought a can of Chicken of the Sea Medium Shrimp from Albertson's and when I opened the can, the shrimp content was gray and smelled very rank... and then I read the can. Warning... PRODUCT OF INDONESIA. Please BOYCOTT ALL Chicken of the Sea products and force these clowns to produce a quality product based on demand, not profit.
NYC -- I bought several cans of the Chicken of the Sea ALBACORE CHUNK WHITE tuna. There was nothing 'ALBACORE' or 'CHUNK WHITE' about it. It was a slimy and gamey tasting experience. At this point after reading the same reviews (including the same about Starkist) I am no longer buying canned tuna ever again. Buyer beware. Hopefully I can feed my cans to the stray cats in my neighborhood... I say hopefully. :/
This company really needs to either be out of business or improve their product to the standards consumers deserve. The chunk light tuna is neither chunky nor light. It is a can of offensively smelling mealy grey mush. Never again. I don't remember this product being so horrible years ago. There are some really canned good tuna brands out there. Genova being one. I will never go near Chicken of the Sea products again. Belch.
HAILEY, IDAHO -- Bought a 32 ounce bag of Chicken of the Sea 30-40 per pound shrimp at Albertson's in Hailey, Idaho. Weighed the contents. 24 ounces. That's only 3/4 of the advertised weight. Don't ever buy Chicken of the Sea products unless you actually weigh their products in the store to make sure they aren't ripping you off. As far as I'm concerned, if I don't have a scale handy, I'll never buy another Chicken of the Sea product again.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Not once, not twice, but all too often, the Chicken Of The Sea solid white tuna is pure mush. All it's good for is a tuna sandwich mixed with mayo. Cannot use it for salads or for just the solid tuna people purchase it for. I have bought my last can of Chicken Of The Sea. Onto other brands. Frankly, the most solidly consistent solid tuna I have found is believe it or not, Shop Rite brand.
And now that Chicken Of The Sea has removed a phone number where they can be reached, they have really lost me. Do they think people are going to waste more money, a 45 cent stamp and more time on their sub-par product? They are "plenty of other fish in the sea".
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I actually went in search, for any other negative experience with chicken of the sea's "Chunk white Albacore Tuna".. and have found that others have had the same negative experience. Their tuna is very mushy, hardly any chunks whatsoever.. at first I thought maybe I had a bad can, but I have tried several cans and the results were the same. I actually think that Chicken of the Sea is misrepresenting their product and duping their consumers... Chunk White Albacore...NOT! Mushy tuna or dolphin, maybe? I will not buy this product again, until I've heard some positive changes have been made. Chicken of the Sea's Chunk white albacore is terrible!
I purchased a can of Chicken of The Sea White Crab and upon opening the can, I stared at its content and couldn't believe what I saw. It looked like white oatmeal or farina cereal!! I then tried some with a fork - no taste. Then I heated it in a fry pan with melted butter - still no taste. Once passed the crunch of the bits of shell in the crab, I was hard pressed to decide whether to keep eating it or dispose of it. I strongly suggest Chicken of The Sea cancel their Vietnam contract and discontinue this product. Just a thought.
There is no longer a number you can contact to let consumer affairs know the quality of tuna being produced by their employees. Now you expect someone to write a letter and send it to whoever, wherever. How convenient for you. By the way, my complaint was that your CHUNK white tuna is pure mush. No pieces of tuna at all. This has been an ongoing problem for several years. I decided to call customer service and let them know, AGAIN, about the problem, so they could look in to it again, So much for the consumer!! I will buy Starkist from now on, goodbye.
