Garbage Furniture and Mislead You With This Extended Warranty

FLORIDA -- I don't know what the previous review was talking about. This place is buyer beware and AS IS. I purchased an off white table set and six chairs with the "EXTENDED WARRANTY" for 1500. Well, within two months my kid spilled chocolate milk on the table and no sooner did I grab the paper towel did the milk actually seep into the table. I called customer service because I was led to believe that any defect would be remedied or given a new piece. I had to send a picture of the table first and then wait two weeks for a lady to call and send some guy from a completely different company to come out.

He was a miserable severely obese guy who hated his life let alone the company he worked for. He flat out said they wouldn't cover this because they KNEW there is no protective coating on the wood table, only the stain so anything will stain it. I called customer service managers, sales managers, wrote letters and nothing. I looked up the owner and he seemed so charitable, PLEASE they wouldn't even allow me to talk to him and he wouldn't respond to my certified letters.

I along with hundreds if not thousands of customers were misled to believe that this warranty would provide coverage for defects and it was false. I filed complaints with BBB. I have subsequently stopped paying on the piece of crap City Furniture card and returned the shotty merchandise to their front door.

Unless you like throwing your money away, don't go here or at least know that everything is AS IS. If that's the case, go to Big Lots for the same junk or pay a little more and get a nice set with a decent warranty from a reputable furniture store. City Furniture should be China furniture (smell their "so real leather" or their junky microfiber).

For City Furniture "The Client Is a Piece of Junk"

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- I bought a part belonging to a sofa bed (the mattress) at $ 150.00. Because the original was broken along the seams, and the disastrous City Furniture warranty did not cover it. For two months and 20 days my family waited for the mattress until we got tired and went to Ikea and bought a similar one that we started using.

Four days later, the mattress arrived to the Tamarac Warehouse and then to a truck for three days more when no one in City Furniture knew the location of the mattress (included Customer Services Phone, Tamarac Warehouse and the Cutler Ridge Store manager who was supposed to receive it at the end). When it finally appeared was in 88 St and 129 Ave store. Someone called me and told me to go to pick it up (I think was the manager of this store).

When I finish in my work I went to the store and I told him I did not want any more the mattress, and that I wanted to return it. He said I was to bring the receipt for cancel the order (Unfortunately, I did not take it with me). But then he suggested that I was to pick-up the mattress because otherwise he would be returning to the Tamarac Warehouse the next day.

I asked him if there was any problem to return it later and he said that if I went with the receipt and the mattress in the original package and labels to any store there would be no problem with the return. The next day we went to the store located in Cutler Ridge Miami and speak with the manager called **. This was the worst day of my life. This guy first said the refund had a charge of 10 % and we agreed. Then he called and spoke with another store manager to see “what could be done”. Then he said he could not accept it because the mattress had no refund.

We tried to get a good explanation because I have understood that before 90 days everything can be returned to the credit card if it has never been used and kept in the original packaging with labels and without the slightest damage and he said the City Furniture had a “tricky policy of no return”. I still do not know what it means.

I asked for a store credit to buy a recliner was worth about $ 599, but he neither acceded. Apparently $150 dollars are more important for this store than clients. Anyway, after the complaints I made that the employee ** signed the receipt as proof “I do not accept the return” and I will try to make a claim on Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
From now and the eternity I will take care personally to keep every person that I know out of this Store.

SAWGRASS MILLS, FLORIDA -- We spent $7750.00 which included a dining table, 8 chairs, coffee table, 2 console tables, server, couch and 2 leather chairs for our formal living and dining room. Not all products were available right away.

They delivered the server damaged. The couch, I was not happy within the store, the sales person who was also the general manager, encouraged us to take it home and see. "If you do not like it, you can always exchange it, he said". He failed to mention that we only had 48 hours after delivery to make a decision. He never mentioned that the exchange would be only for something available in the showroom and he failed to mention that returning the couch involved a charge. He wrapped my receipt inside a cover that contained the store policy and failed to mention what that cover was for.

3 days after we received the couch, I told my husband, "I want to throw up every time I see this couch, let's return it." He said "maybe it will look nicer when the other pieces arrive." Thinking that we had a 30 day window to returned we held off on the Sofa. I could no longer wait after 3 weeks. I called City Furniture to discover that we were not allowed to exchange the couch. It has been more than a month and we still do not have a response regarding the broken server they delivered to us. They keep giving us the runaround.

I would never, ever shop at City Furniture again. In fact I am posting this on my Facebook so that my Facebook friends know what a crook the employees of City Furniture are. There are so many Furniture stores out there, why should anyone buy from a company where customer service is not their first priority. We cancelled the remainder of our order which was supposed to be delivered. For a $600 couch City Furniture risked $7000 customer whom will never trust them.

Complaint About Product Quality and Terrible Customer Service

SAWGRASS MILLS, FLORIDA -- I bought a bed from Ashley/City Furniture and to sell the product they were willing to deliver the next day and convinced me that I should buy a three year warranty in case anything happened my bed would be replaced immediately. Less than 2 week later the mattress fell because the base was not installed properly. ** the sales lady said I had to deal directly with customer service and was not helpful and it has been 9 days and the problem is still not solved.

The customer service representative whose name is ** (he is not allowed to give his last name) was absolutely rude and almost disrespectful. They write a contract were the product cannot be return but they make the whole experience terrible. I would never buy anything from City Furniture again and will tell everybody I know they should go anywhere else. In Florida we have many choices and any other would be better.

FLORIDA -- I purchased a leather sofa for my home in Florida. I also purchased the 3 year warranty. I was told this would cover any problem we had. The seat on the couch caved in after 4 months of use. A service person came and took pictures and did not sit on the couch. The service person told me up front that the company would not stand by the warranty. I was told that they would do nothing for me because this was due to wear. I've owned many couches and the seats never caved in. Imagine a $1000 couch is only expected to last 4 months!

The Worst!!

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- Bought several pieces for several rooms from them in October 2010. It's April 2011 and I am still dealing with trying to get it right. The delivery truck is not theirs.. They hire out a service that delivers many other stores' stuff at the same time. They overbook them by about 8 customers every single day. On my delivery day, the driver calls my cell at 6:45 AM and says they will deliver by noon. I take off from work to wait for them. By 2:00 PM, I call and they say they are on their way. At 5:00, after missing a whole day's work, they say they are on their way. My building doesn't allow deliveries after 5:00.

They show up at almost 9:00 at night and tell me if they can't get in, I won't get another delivery until the following week. I have to go downstairs and give the security guy $30 to let them in to deliver. This, after paying the store well over $150 to deliver. None of the delivery is correct. Pieces are damaged. They take it back. Customer service says they will mail me a $75 credit certificate for all my trouble to buy something else in the store. It never came. Now they say, it has expired. BUT I NEVER GOT IT I tell them. Track it - you will see it has never been used.

Almost six months, I still don't have everything from my order. They have not replaced the damaged merchandise. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC SERVICE!!! Wish they had negative stars for this one...

I'm pissed

I have had a problem with a sofa that I purchased 1 year ago. I called someone out to look at it because one end of the sofa was leaning and they said "your floor is uneven". I was pissed, but let it go for now. A guy just came out to look at it again before my warranty expired, sat in the recliner part of the sofa and just because he could "recline" in the seat, he says there is nothing wrong with it. My complaint wasn't that the recliner didn't work, it was that the left side of the sofa was leaning, and it's VERY noticeable. Everyone that comes into the house notices it as I did the very first day it arrived at my house. I got nowhere except that I am PISSED.

This was my first, and last experience with them, and will NEVER buy another thing from City Furniture... EVER!!! My cousin had a problem with them in the past, and my best friend had a problem with them in the past as well. I should have known better. If you choose to buy from them, GOOD LUCK, but one thing I can tell you is that the warranty was a waste of money!!

City Furniture Sells Crap

TAMARAC, FLORIDA -- Kevin Charles is defective. This furniture is dangerous. Staples are always poking me when I handle the furniture. My relatives almost fell through one of the seats as there was no support holding the spring board and it collapsed only staples held the springs in place. They don't stand behind their defective products nor will they examine the defects. The pillows' zippers are breaking. The seams are showing stuffing. They cracked my floor tiles when they delivered it. First two couches had to be redelivered because they came broken. The furniture was very expensive and the end result is you lose your money because I own a big pile of crap for 5,000.00 dollars.

** at Tamarac is one rude woman who basically follows every other corp minded retard that blows off their customers that spend thousands of dollars with their company. Which the end result is instead of spending my money with City Furniture I will never shop there again. It cost them nothing to fix the furniture and keep a customer.
Don't know how the corp machine thinks that blowing off your customers is a good way to keep biz going that's why they are all going under pooooorrrr customer service. Fix it for a hundred make a thousand later.

Horrible Experience, Messed Up Delivery
By -

SUNRISE, FLORIDA -- I purchased a countertop from S.C. Floor Covering in Norton in October, 2007. The salesman who sold us the countertop explained the product and the installation procedure. He highly recommended the installers and said that they used them all the time. On October 23, I received a call from S.C. Floor Covering to say that our countertops would be installed on Friday, October 26th between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. We took the day off from work to be there and let the installers in. Needless to say, the installers did not show up on Friday. Because S.C. Floor Covering closes early on Friday, we were unable to get them to help us with the installation.

Only after many calls to the installers, did I arrange for them to come out on Saturday. But, we had missed a day's pay for NO reason. When I spoke with S.C. Floor Covering in Norton, I said that I was surprised to see that they did not reimburse us for the missed days pay. The salesman told me that they do not do that. He also said that they lived up to their contract and delivered the counter. However, NOT on time, when promised. I think that if S.C. Floor Covering were decent they would have taken off the missed day of pay. I would NOT recommend them.

City Furniture Repair Policy

BOCA RATON, FLORIDA -- On May 21, 2007, I purchased a wall unit for $1,064.84, including delivery. I declined the "In-home service warranty", as they told me that the "manufacturer's standard warranty applies". Yesterday (July 4), my dad and I were finally putting items in the unit and one of the door brackets (hinges) came loose.

I called City Furniture today and was told that I was out of luck, that if I wanted them to fix it, it would cost $40 for someone to come out. They said that they allow "one courtesy call" per purchase to fix anything that's wrong, which we already used (one of the drawers was badly damaged when it was delivered and we asked it to be replaced). We expected such as small defect as fixing the defective bracket to be taken care of, but was sadly mistaken.
