All fabric's 50% off except this and this and this...
By -

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- I read the ad saying all the fabric was 50% off on Labor day. I went in and picked out some fabric. I stood at the counter to have it cut and waited and waited because some woman was having the clerk help her figure out a pattern for a doll she was making. She needed two yards of fabric, I was having draperies made for an entire deck, maybe thirty or forty yards.

When I asked why the price did not reflect the 50% discount no one could tell me why. The manager said she did not know why it did not come up on sale so maybe it was not on sale, as I explained the ad said ALL FABRIC not just some, she said "Well I don"t know it just isn't." I left... wrote a letter... heard nothing and went to the Mill outlet in town and did the job at half the price.

Poor Management & Customer Service
By -

FRANKLING, TENNESSEE -- I am connected with the Jo-Ann's store in Franklin, TN. Recently, management has changed and not for the better. I'm not talking about poor scheduling or personality conflicts. The new manager is an outright dictator. Employees are no longer aloud to accept personal calls at work -- even in emergency situations. Reviews are written in a negative light so employees do not receive yearly raises (of a whole whopping .15 cents). If district or regional management is informed of the situation, the store manager pulls the employee aside with threats of firing.

Reliable people who have never been late and regularly work overtime and extra shifts are told if they don't stay in line they will be fired after years of loyal service. And if a family emergency arises like the death of a direct relative, the store manager refuses to let the employee leave until after someone else comes in to relieve the shift.

When the corporate headquarters is contacted to make these complaints, the receptionist refuses to connect calls to either HR, Customer Service, district/regional managers, or even the complaint department. If employees are treated this poorly, the store does not deserve to have anyone's business. And if customers cannot call and make complaints when an injustice has occurred, the company overall does not deserve to be in business.

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON -- The short of it... they said they would be getting more material in, so we bought 1/3 the amount needed because that was all they had at the time. 3 months go by while I check every 2 weeks. They kept saying in 2 more weeks.. Until finally material is discontinued. Now they won't take back our original purchase. This is the 3rd awful transaction. I will NEVER shop there again. Their corporate policies are not good for the customer and there are other fabric store that carry almost everything they do, so why risk it?

Bad Business Tactics
By -

I am tired of Joann's coupons for 40% off; luring people into their stores who can't use the coupons because 90% of the merchandise is on sale. If the merchandise is even 25% off you can't use your coupon. It's not like the store isn't the only game in town and they have to resort to this business tactic.

Bad Customer Service
By -

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI -- I asked an employee to cut the selvages off some fabric before a supervisor told her that if we did this for one customer we would have to do this for many right in front of me. I asked both of them if they would like receiving this for a gift. Her reply was all our bolts have JoAnn Fabrics on them. I don't think they realize that without customers they wouldn't have a job. Nowhere else can you tell the customer this as that is poor customer service.

Do Not Buy Anything Over $100.00 At Joann's Fabrics

Joann's is good at taking your money, but giving it back is another story. You have to wait 14 days for their home office to send you your refund check. In this day and age, when you can overnight anything with UPS or FedEx I can not see why you have to wait 14 days.
