FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- I booked this company through Expedia. Over 10 years ago, I worked for Alamo Rent A Car for about 15 years, so I know my way around the rental process. I did not want to go on airport for a local rental, so I chose an off airport company. I made sure that as a local renter, I could rent with a credit card, unlimited mileage, etc. I even purchased the Expedia form of CDW on the site when I booked.

When I arrived at NU Rental, first the agent was upset that I purchased the CDW through Expedia as that is a third party, so they apparently don't get the revenue. Then he told me I did not have unlimited mileage, because I am a local resident. He insisted it was in the terms. I showed him, the only "possible" limitation was not crossing state lines. I had no plans to leave Florida. At any rate, I had to walk as he would not back off this term, even though it was not in the reservation agreement.

I ended up driving my own car. Then I contacted Expedia. They informed me I could not get a refund on the CDW even though not being able to rent the car was not my choice. They did offer me a $50 gift coupon on my Expedia account. I am going to call them again! Don't rent NU Car!!!

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I will say one thing... they do answer your emails. But as for trying to help you with refund when you have cancelled your reservation within 24 hours of making said reservation... they are no help!!! They are in cahoots with economybookings.com. Do not use them either!!! You know these companies that work together have phone numbers to call each other to check on said rentals... but will they give you legit phone number to call the booking company you used to get rental through them? No!!! They will not help you!!! Thank God used PayPal for my down payment with economybookings.com.

Never use your credit card if booking anything online. Paypal will get that money back for me. Hope!!! Anyway..if can stop just person from booking through economybookings.com to get rental through Nu Car Rentals... I hope to do just that. Pay $30-$40 more and go through carrentals.com or rentalcars.com... They are more legit and much more customer oriented.

Reservation Made 2 Months in Advance and No Car Available

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- Our flight arrived on-time and we had confirmation for a rental car which was made well in advance of the pick-up date. No cars were available and the representative said it was due to other customers not dropping off when scheduled. After further discussion, it turned out that upgrade vans were available but would cost an additional rate per day ($50 more per day) for use.

Turning this down as unacceptable due to financial and principle reasons, the only other offers suggested were: (1) wait and see if a car will be dropped off that night (this was already 9:45pm) or (2) get shuttled to the hotel and then picked up the next morning when a car becomes available. With kids in tow and traveling most of the day, we opted for going to the hotel. Of course, the majority of the next morning involved the logistics of going back and getting the car. Insult to injury, the charges were the same even though we picked up the car the next calendar day. 24 hour cycle for billing... blah, blah, blah.

The company manager and reps were even openly aggravated that we had obtained such a good on-line deal months in advance and stated the fact to us! Boy we felt really lucky. For perspective, this review was a first for me. I have been a part of the service industry for many years and understand the challenges, but this was one of the worst experiences encountered when renting a car. I just want others to be aware. I'll be using other rental car agencies in the future.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I talked to manager regarding bad review I saw online before fly there. He explained that that gentleman called after 11 pm when this location is closed and it was switched to another line. That's why they didn't keep the car he rent and he has to wait for another car to return back to location. He assured me that I will have a good car rental experience so I decided to give a try. It was a good van with $23/day rental in Orlando FL. The car is clean and fresh. You do have to follow their rule to avoid extra charge (ex. avoid toll road, bring your personal cars insurance declaration to avoid the car insurance). I will rent the car from them again.

Worst Rental Ever

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON -- I would never use this company again. I have rented plenty of cars in other cities and have never had as many problems as I did with this company. We booked with Expedia and nothing in the confirmation stated that had to go to another location outside of the airport. We were so confused so we called the phone number listed in the email. I talked to someone who was very kind and sent a cab to come get us. We get into the cab and he drives right back to where we started! How is that possible when the car rental ordered the taxi!?

I called the company and a man answered and told me he canceled our cab and would not give us the address. We were in the cab so how is that possible!? He continued to scream at me and call me a **! Really! Some customer service. Finally the cab driver got the address and took us there. We got the car which was in okay shape.

Dropping off the car was just as bad. The guy tried charging us $45000 saying that we drove a hundred thousand miles. We were there for four days! Luckily a manager was there and didn't charge us. The only reason I am giving this a star is because the staff at the actual location was kind and the car was cheap. I would spend an extra few dollars to have a reputable company that doesn't curse out their customers.

Worst Nightmare - Don't Recommend It at All

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I made a reservation to pick up a minivan around 9:00 pm. When I went to the car rental, they said they don't any minivan available. They told me they were changing the tires from one and should be ready next day at 6:00 am. The guy who spoke to me told me to go there as early as possible and ask for the manager to explain the situation and he would give me that minivan.

When I went to the office to pick up the minivan and I asked for the manager he told me that I was told a lie, that they don't' have a minivan on repair and there were other three customer in front of my turn waiting for minivan too. He state they already pay and mine was a reservation but not paid yet, so if I want a minivan I have to wait my turn and if they return the mini van.

To end my story, it was a nightmare. He shows no care about us at all. He ask us to look for a car rental on the area. We were unable to leave on time to our trip to Miami, we had to go to the office twice, and we ended paying a higher price for a last minute reservation in another Company. Dealing with them was a nightmare, but the worst part is that they didn't care.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not under any circumstances rent a car from this company. We have arrived in Vegas late night (10:30 pm) and by the time we got to their office was almost 11:30. People were waiting in line to get their vehicles for over an hour. We were visiting relatives and had a baby and a toddler (crying from the lack of sleep) and had to wait well after the closing hours to get our vehicle. They sold us extra warranty and highlighted options that you decline (so they tell you) but when you put your initials, you actually purchase those extra options. SO BE VERY CAREFUL!!!

It was my fault for not reading the contract carefully but after midnight and with the babies I was anxious to get to our relatives. Be very careful when checking the vehicle, they do it with a flash light late night and you may miss scratches and dents and will be charged later. They also do not inspect the vehicle with you upon return so additional charges may be added since you have no idea how they do it. All in all I will NEVER rent from them ever again.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- If I can give this facility a zero star I would. I arrive on site, one hour early. AFTER they charge my card they told me they charged an additional $50 for picking up one hour early. I told the manager I was no longer interested in renting the car and please refund me the $334 (original price was $134, $200 deposit) and they said, "We will not reimburse the money". I had to call the police department and file a report. I also had to call my credit card company and tell them it was fraud. This is the second time I rented from them and the first time the cars were filthy dirty.

Literally had trash in the cars. I thought the second time would be better. They refused to reimburse any money on my card. The manager (** fat lady with dreads) also got very aggressive with me in front of customers and started yelling in my face because I said I was calling the police. I threw the keys on the counter 5 feet from her (not at her) and then she tried to accuse me of assaulting her. Definitely by far the worst rental car company ever. I already contacted my lawyer and I will have to sue them for the amount that they are putting on my card. Extremely unprofessional. Do not rent from this company at all!!!

Unreasonable Claim for the Damage of the Rent-a-Car

LAS VEGAS, ARKANSAS -- I rented a car last July 2019 at NU Car Rentals for the sightseeing at Las Vegas Airport. After I started driving, I noticed that the air vent of front sheet was damaged, but I did not report to the company upon return since the reception was too crowded and the returned time was late evening and also I had to check-in the return flight. A few days later, I received a summary report for the car via e-mail and no issue reported.

However, one month later, they claimed to pay for the cost using a collection company. Although I explained that I never broke the car and it was damaged before I rented a car, but they repeatedly contacted me to pay for it. In Dec., they changed the collection company and still asking to pay for it. This company attitude is very terrible and never use them. Please pay attention if you plan to use the company. They will ask unreasonable payment to you afterwards.

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I was attracted to NU (also known as Action) car rental in Orlando because it was on Expedia.com and was very reasonably priced for a rental car. The people at NU are very rude. The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door were all the customers looking very unhappy and frustrated. When it was my turn in line, the agent told me the price I paid in advance on Expedia didn't matter and they were charging me an extra $7.99/day for the car. I tried to reason with them and have an explanation for why, but the man walked away from me. He stood outside for about five minutes. I don't know what he was doing. I was so frustrated, I left.

With all my luggage, I took the shuttle back to the airport. I called Expedia. They “tried” to help by telling me I should not have to pay anymore, but they would not offer a refund, so I was stuck. I returned to NU, sucked it up, and paid their extra $7.99/day - for what I don't know. What a way to begin my vacation - ugh.

The car was dirty, stained inside on the seats. The windows were coated with an oily film on the inside so bad, we had to stop and clean them. The windshield washer fluid was empty. When we arrived at our Airbnb and I was in a better mood, I tried calling the main number for Action Customer Service. I was hoping for a reasonable conversation with someone. The woman on the phone was equally rude from the beginning of the call. They do not care about customer service whatsoever. Stay away from NU!!!
