CALIFORNIA -- I placed an online order with Office Depot on Friday, 12/15. Per their ad, my order of $50.00+ would be discounted $10.00, however it was not. I called "customer service" three times. No one knew of the discount. One person even told me to contact the webmaster, since it was an online order! My order was scheduled to be delivered on Monday, 12/18. It is now Thursday, 12/21. I called customer service yet again. They claimed my order was lost. I would have to re-order. Their only compensation was for me to tell the delivery driver to call when he arrives at my company. He can then request a $10.00 discount for my trouble. The original $10.00 discount? No thanks! My company has over 1000 employees in 24 locations, what a large amount of business to lose.
Foray highlighters, produced by "Swinton Avenue Trading" for Office Depot may look attractive, but they are nearly worthless. The earlier ones, with a clear window which showed the ink levels, lasted about one book, compared to years for the old Avery HiLiters. The new ones, twice as thick, have about the same ink and the top won't fit on the end of the highlighter when you are using it. Given the amount of ink, these products are four to five times the cost of the Avery HiLiters.
AVON, COLORADO -- As a former vendor, and shareholder of Office Depot I am amazed of the merchandising of the RTA office furniture. The VP of Merchandising and buying staff need to learn that prior to buying any RTA furniture, they themselves should be able to assemble the unit. I realize that retail is mostly about "net maintained margin", "turn rate", etc. However if the buying staff were forced to adapt this simple policy, customer satisfaction would be greatly improved, and the furniture department would most likely be empty.
If I make a purchase and I discover the product is junk I want a full refund. Not a trade for the same piece of junk. If Office Depot can't refund my money for a product that I've decided is less than expected then I'll shop elsewhere. I've bought all my main computer and related purchases from Office Depot for years. “But never again.” You've lost a customer.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- I have office supply delivered to our office and the person that does delivery needs to learn how to smile and might consider taking English classes. He doesn't seem to understand me which is so annoying because everything I ask or say is "yes, yes, yes" when in fact he didn't really comprehend what I said to begin with! Office Depot works just fine for our office supplies but the delivery person is something else.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Office Depot Shredder lubricant item #285-661 is a big NO BUY, after a few days it smells like old vegetable oil and jams the shredder. If you don't believe me try it, but I hope you have something that will clean the cutters after it gums them all up.
LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- I had problems with my laptop in Jan. '07. I've had to send my computer to service from Feb. 08 - Aug. '08. It's been sent back with more problems every time. It is taking over three weeks now just for a rebate, after I was told it would take five days. I'm here, cause I was looking for corporate's number. A really bad company to deal with totally.
The Office Depot in Douglasville, GA sold me a USED or returned HP Pavilion and HP Officejet printer for new ones. The computer took me and HP online IT's hours to fix. The printer had an empty black cartridge (someone had used it enough to empty a cartridge). The manager I spoke with about this did not care and gave me the WORST customer service I ever experienced. NEVER BUY A COMPUTER FROM OFFICE DEPOT. You might get a used one like I did.
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Watch out if the item you purchase offers an additional OFFICE DEPOT REBATE. It's been almost 3 months now and I received a postcard noting that they could not process my rebate. After a phone call to the help center, which I believe is in India (?) I was informed not to worry and to wait an additional 3~4 WEEKS for the rebate to process and that I should check back weekly. IF YOU'RE GOING TO OFFER A REBATE, PROCESS THE DAMN THING, I should not have to "check back weekly."
