Plus Size Blues

I was really bummed when Old Navy took their Plus Size Women's line exclusively online. While I did pay shipping to receive my clothing, I could return them to the store for free. Then they made it so you could only return by mail - but it was still free. Now I have to pay to have my items shipped to me and then pay $6 to ship them back when they don't fit or aren't what I thought they would be. Why should I have to pay more when they are not making their products available to me any other way. I have stopped shopping there.

Bad Experience With Employees
By -

STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA -- My very first time shopping in an old Navy store, and my last! I live 30 miles away from this store and as a treat I took my daughter who just turned 13 to buy a couple of outfits for school. I am a single mother and have to make every dollar count. I do not have my own car so I also had to pay for gas to get to this store. So we bought our items and when walking out the security alarm went off and we backed up and headed back to the cashier that was the only one working and she told us it's okay go ahead so we left.

The next day my daughter found the security button on the bottom cuff of the pants, I called the store talked to the asst. manager. She asked for all the information on the receipt and asked my name, she told me if I would come back in they would remove the alarm thing off the pants. I explained to her I was 30 miles away and would have to find transportation. She tells me just when I could get back bring the receipt and the pants and they would make it right for me, I am guessing like a small gift card or something.

I went back two days later paid 15.00 for gas to go to a store where the manager was rude and hateful and told me basically "Tough we don't do anything for our people that shop here..." I am so angry for something that was the cashier's fault, not mine. A 25.00 pair of pants cost me an extra 30.00. Never again will I go there.

Cheap dirty store on Jamaica avenue

JAMAICA, NEW YORK -- Every time I shop here this store is dirty as ever! The floor associates are not well trained. I always spent a lot of money here. I remember when I was walking past the store I asked the associate if I can get 1 bag - I do mean 1 bag. She said she is not allowed to give out 1 bag. Wow they spend all their time throwing away hangers and they can't give out 1 bag. I was going to do all my shopping here. They can keep their lousy 1 bag and I'll keep my money. I hope 1 bag was really worth it.

Metal Bottles Are a Great Deal and Are Safe.
By -

I bought several of these SIGG like bottles and then when I smelled them after washing, I got nervous about what they were made of. I contacted Old Navy and after several email exchanges, I found out they were all aluminum and copper - and the Old Navy reps vouched for the fact that they did not contain lead or other dangerous materials. After several uses and washings, I can say that the metallic taste and smell is completely gone. (That's not to say they are totally fine, one of the bottles got stuck - plastic washer on the lid got stripped.) For this price though, this is a great product.

Bad Credit Card Practices
By -

NEW JERSEY -- Today I went into Old Navy and my Old Navy card was declined. I have never missed or been late on a payment. I have always paid more than the required minimum payment. I have never even come close to maxing out my card. What happened? I found out... they randomly lowered my credit card limit! When I called customer service they said "Sorry can't help you." They didn't care and they were rude. I closed my account and will no longer shop there. Why punish the consumer when they are the ones in credit jeopardy. You would think they would want to retain customers not lose them.

Shoddy Service And Questionable Policies
By -

PLAINVILLE, CONNECTICUT -- I shopped at store #06187 (Plainville, CT) recently. I used a gift card, a bucks back coupon for $10 and the 20% off everything card. I was told that I could not combine the 20% off and the $10 bucks back coupon. I could understand why and I didn't question that policy. What really bothered me was that I was told by the manager that I had to use my gift card in a different sale. In other words, I couldn't use the gift card toward the 20% off purchase or the $10 bucks back transaction.

I had to do 3 transactions just to purchase my merchandise! I was under the assumption that gift cards were considered cash, and NOT a discount. On top of this, the manager was very curt and rude with me in front of my daughter - I put some merchandise back because of his attitude. This is not an economic climate that fosters rudeness to customers - with other stores combining discounts and great customer service, it is very easy to walk away.

Credit Card Services

TRUSSVILLE, ALABAMA -- GE Money sucks as a credit card company. I have had that card since 2003 and they closed my account because I got a couple months behind and because it was delinquent. I have you know that I was going through a divorce and trying to pay all my bills on time and was trying to get to them.

As you see, I am still currently paying on my balance and have paid it down and are not late and nor have I been delinquent since. That was my first time and my last. I called today and asked if I could reopen and they said no. What kind of company would extend credit to someone and then just take it away. But I bet they are still lingering on my credit report.

Commercials Offensive
By -

I am very offended by the message that the current Old Navy commercials are sending. I am not going to call the commercials sexist, but, why is it OK to remove the clothing from a woman mannequin in their commercials and from any mannequin on TV period. This is very offensive to me as a young woman. This is not a good message for young women period. What is the message here? This is in very poor taste and it is being shown during prime time. There is more I would like to say but I am going to hold my tongue. Please, Old Navy think about what you put on TV.

A Sin and a Shame!!!
By -

This evening (Feb. 27, 2009) I saw a couple of Old Navy Commercials on TV. It seems that the Old Navy ad campaigns are currently featuring talking mannequins and I am saying that one of the ads I saw is done in the poorest of taste. In fact, I found it to be exploitative towards women, racist towards African Americans, and socially and morally offensive in general.

The commercial I am referring to is the one in which the mannequins are discussing how they look in jeans. Their comments, which are meant to be clever, are anything but (no pun intended). Their comments seem to be all about the "human backside". In fact, throughout the entire commercial they are focusing on and talking about "the behind", both male and female. There's nothing cute about anyone putting hind-quarters "in your face", and though they tried to make light of it at the end of the commercial, the damage was already done.

I know that a lot of emphasis is placed on how well a person fits into their jeans, but, this O.N. commercial did not just send out a negative social message, it sends out a damaging moral message to people of all races, and particularly to the children and teens they are primarily marketing to. Shame on you Old Navy!

Store Card Scam
By -

I gave in and got one of those damn cards every salesperson in the store harasses you to get. All was fine and dandy until I moved and they stopped sending me statements. (Yes, I did give them my new address.) Now I have a late fee I can't dispute because their customer service exists entirely in the form of recorded phone menus. I cut up my card and won't be going back. That stupid card has now cost me more than it has saved me! Don't get an Old Navy card - there's no way to dispute a billing problem!
