Pushy Salespeople!!!

NEWINGTON, COLORADO -- Oh my god. I went to Raymour & Flanigan in Newington on Sunday to browse for a new wall unit w/ my daughter. I told her when we walked in, we would be attacked by annoying sales people, hence I was right. I told the guy Klitte, yup his name, that I was just looking, and I would find him if I saw anything. He told me not to worry, he'd find me. There he was... On my trail. We tried to ignore him until he wore me down and I just told him what I was looking for. Okay, well he just showed me again what I had just gone around the showroom looking at.

To be honest, I really didn't care about anything but if it looked nice. I told him I was going to have my husband take a look at what I had picked out the next day or so and that's when my head started to spin. The manager, was on my sales guy's butt. I guess wanting him to close the deal, I don't know but he was stressing me out and making me feel rushed!!! Before I knew what hit me he was writing up paperwork. All I wanted was for my husband to look at the furniture??? We needed signed paperwork. WHAT?? I refused to sign anything.

When I got home I told my husband and it was beyond ridiculous this whole thing. At that point, I was so turned off to this furniture that out of courtesy, I called the store and told then to tell my sales guy that I had changed my mind and my husband was not coming in. I was put on hold for like 10 minutes. I hung up and got a different girl, who I told not to dare put me on hold, all I wanted to do was out of respect, let the guy know we were not coming back.

You guessed it. The sales guy called me back. When I saw Raymour on my caller ID, I almost flipped. He asked why I had changed my mind etc. I told him I had sat on hold quite a while, and I was just calling out of respect for him, I still didn't know why I had to write up paperwork in order for my husband to see the furniture and I didn't like his manager following us and rushing me and asking him if he'd done this or that, as I carried on, on a precious Sunday while hanging out with my husband and kids... I finally ended our call asking if there was anything more to discuss???

This was beyond ridiculous. These people and their managers should really get a clue. When someone says they will get you when they see something they like, AND that they even understand how sales works... Leave them alone.

NORWALK, CONNECTICUT -- We acquired a walk-out basement that turned into our media room and incorporated our vintage Kagan monolithic couch. We spent most of our time watching television in bed or on our cramped screen in the den. "Ditch the couch" a friend suggested, "get those home media center couches." "With cup holders?" I protested "How ugly." But I did some research on the web--very few places to try them out--Raymour and Flanigan was one and the closest. I had never been in one. What a surprise. A knowledgeable salesman, **, let us bounce, recline, twist and turn on a range of choices and made practical suggestions.

Turned off by black and cup holders, we selected a two seater, Italian leather in a saddle leather with exaggerated arm rests and a matching oversized chair. Used to decorators that deliver furniture custom made months later I was confused when he said, "we can deliver it tomorrow." And they did, with prompt on time, in the framework promised, with two of the most professional deliverymen I've encountered in a long time. What a difference, we now watch our big screen t.v. in comfort, we are enjoying the room and everyone who has seen it is amazed at the quality, the style, and best of all the comfort.

This is real value for the money and in its niche I think R&F offers more in terms of service, quality, and responsiveness than its competitors. Most of its styles aren't mine but I wouldn't hesitate to return for particular items.

YONKERS, NEW YORK -- Please do NOT buy furniture at this store. I purchased a mattress from this store and was told if I opened up a store credit card that I would get no interest for one year. When I received my credit card statement a few weeks later, I found interest was added and would be charged until my balance was paid off. I called the bank who issued the card who then told me to contact the Raymour and Flanigan corporate office. I then contacted the R&F corporate office who then told me to contact the store where I purchased the mattress from which was the Yonkers location. This is where the shadiness of this company begins.

When I contacted the Yonkers location I was put on hold about 4 times from the secretary who can barely speak good English. I was then transferred to the salesperson whose name is ** that sold me my mattress. He became VERY IRATE with me when I explained my situation TO THE POINT WHERE HE WAS YELLING AT ME. I then asked to speak with the manager. I then spoke with the manager whose name is **. ** told me he would call me back to straighten out the situation.

I received a phone call a few hours later from the Yonkers store stating they could fix the no interest problem but would need to add a $185.00 charge to the account in order to remedy the situation. This company scams shoppers. Please do not shop at this store. You cannot return their mattresses and they scam you with opening up their store credit cards.

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK -- We purchased a dining room table, six chairs, a China cabinet, and table pad, in August 2011. In January 2012, only five months later, two of our chair cushions started to sink. The technician from Raymour And Flanigan agreed and told us he was ordering the replacement seats. It is now May 2012, we now have three chairs that are sinking (one is not usable at all.) Depending who we speak to, we have been told that the set is discontinued by the manufacturer and that it is only not being carried by Raymour And Flanigan. They cannot get their story straight. We were told we could reselect the chairs, but they no longer carry anything that matches the table or China cabinet.

I was also told a manager at the Customer Service Center in Culver Road that we would be charged between 3-5% usage fee for the time we had the chairs if we wanted to return them. We were told by the Staten Island store manager that they cannot do anything because it would cause the store money, and the store can't lose out. I asked if the customer who was stuck with shoddy merchandise should lose out, and she repeated that I could not expect the store to lose out. Poorly manufactured merchandise, and terrible customer service.

Wells Fargo Credit Card

Had house under construction, went to Raymour and Flanigan to purchase new bed, mattress and chairs. They put it on a "1010" meaning not sure of delivery date. I had Amex gift cards to pay for my purchase, however, to "hold the sale price" they opened a Raymour and Flanigan credit card and then I could come to the store to pay with the gift cards. Took delivery of my furniture, go to the store to pay the bill in full, they don't take the payment there?? What I ask, isn't this like going to Macy's paying your bill in the store, no they advised me I had a Wells Fargo credit card because I had "good credit".

Called Wells Fargo to no avail. Then I was advised to go to Wachovia Bank as they take the Wells Fargo payments. No such luck, they could not bring my account up to pay it. Call Raymour and Flanigan I requested they back the order out so I could pay it in full, they couldn't do it. So I now have Amex gift cards that were to pay the furniture in full, that cannot be used by Wells Fargo to pay my account. I could have paid for the furniture in full and never taken the Raymour and Flanigan credit card.

Wells Fargo charges 25.99%, where is the "good credit" that I have. In speaking to others that have purchased from Raymour and Flanigan, it seems they have done this to others. Very angry that I was fooled and you must close this account out when you pay the bill otherwise it shows you have another Visa type account. I am done with Raymour and Flanigan.

"preferred customer" credit scam - misleading

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- I don't have the furniture yet but BUYER BEWARE these folks will scam you into a Wells Fargo Credit Account. They refused my Visa card and told me to get the sales price I would have to finance through Wells Fargo. Now I get the store charge in the mail. Nice! Wonder how far my FICO score has been knocked down by the extra credit! Also really difficult to get in touch with Wells Fargo.... the dead end automated phone loop... SAVE YOURSELF!!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!! I will never, ever buy so much as a throw pillow at this scam joint again!!!!!!

Got a couch delivered with Fleas

Had a new couch delivered in the summer of 2009 and it came infested with fleas. It was delivered from the Queens, NY warehouse. Their customer service would not pick up - I had to have people remove the couch and then rip all apart so no one else would take the couch. They would not even give me a refund if I did not have the couch removed on my own.

My living conditions since August has been terrible. I can't seem to get rid of these fleas. It was a brand new apartment that I moved into that was totally clean. They are a totally awful company, and everyone that I come into contact with I let them know what kind of furniture that they deliver.

AMHERST, NEW YORK -- Raymour & Flannigan Reviews - Where the customer is always WRONG, the prices are HIGH and delivery in 4-20 WEEKS. I purchased $9,000 of furniture from Raymour & Flannigan (Amherst, NY). Customer service was OK until they got my money. From their service, was terrible. They delivered a damaged dining room table FOUR times. They delivered a non-matching ottoman, apologized and said they would replace in 4-6 weeks.

I called 6 weeks later and they hadn't even ordered yet. 20 weeks later, still no ottoman. Customer service and sales people, not apologetic (must be a common occurrence). My advice...GO ELSEWHERE unless you like high prices, later/no delivery and horrible customer service.

what a horrible place to buy furniture

DEPTFORD, NEW JERSEY -- I walked in and was attacked by a salesperson. Proceeded to buy 7200.00 worth of furniture. Was told there would be no payments, no interest till 2007. LIE. Bedroom furniture delivered 3 weeks late. 2 mattress sets I ordered broke. Charged for 1 set I never ordered. Have 3 different bills with 3 different amounts due. Kitchen table delivered damaged. Daily calls to store in dept Ford and warehouse. Shuffled from manager to manager. And on top of all that I got a bill that I had to start making payments on furniture that was damaged. LIARS! Eveyone I talked to had a different story.

Had to write to credit card company, B.B.B., had to get a lawyer. They even bad mouthed each other. The resolution: they came and took the furniture back (which I wanted). Now I'm waiting for them to clear the credit card. Had to date and document everything. Lucky I did. But it's still pending from the B.B.B. which has Raymour And Flanigan's listed as unsatifactory in their business dealings. It was a nightmare that lasted almost 2 months. Now I have no furniture in my house. Threw everything out because I thought I had found such a nice store to shop in. WRONG. The one thing I hate most in this world are LIARS.

NEWINGTON, CONNECTICUT -- I was shopping for 3 bedroom sets for my children. I have looked at Pottery Barn, Macy's and R&F. I was very clear and told my salesman I was comparing quality and how much do I get for my $, that I was shopping around. He said "Not a problem" and after spending some time with me in a empty store I had a list of furniture. I told him I would go home and talk over with my husband. The salesman said to hold the price, he needed some information, which I gave him with trust.

7 days later I received a Wells Fargo Credit Card in my husband's name, who never came to the store, we never signed anything, and the following day they called to schedule a delivery for furniture I never purchased. The salesman said to me on the phone, "You said you would return..." I said "And since I didn't wouldn't you assume I was not interested, so you take it upon yourself to order furniture for me?" They are a joke. I ended up getting a better deal with Pottery Barn and of course much better quality.
