HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I've had this insurance for about 3 years. First year I caught the flu I went to the doctor. I unexpectedly had to pay $100 OUT OF POCKET at an IN NETWORK Dr's office! Surely there was some mistake so I called and had the worst customer service ever. Two years later I am having to see a podiatrist and I made sure to call insurance to be prepared of the expenses. Found out my deductible is $5,000! I'd have to basically spend 500 times in a year to be able to use receive any benefits!! Hate to think I've literally thrown thousands down the drain for a horrible insurance company right into their pockets!
UTAH -- My child was in an accident that left her body covered in burns. I took her to the only place in my state that treats burns such as hers and was informed they are out of network. EVERY TIME I called and asked not one employee was able to tell me of an in network provider who could treat my child's burns. They are great as long as you weren't in a car crash, house fire, accident with hot liquids anything that can burn you because at that point it just sucks to be you and they won't cover it.
UMR is hands down the worse insurance company I have ever worked with through employer-sponsored medical benefits. If you are an employer, I strongly consider that you absolutely, under no circumstances, work with this organization. It has been 3 months since I filed a claim for a super-bill reimbursement. UMR has continually deflected, denied, and ignored my requests for reimbursement, despite the reimbursement clause being explicitly cited in my benefits contract. They are truly a horrendous company. Do not give them your business.
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- The website is the most non-user friendly I have experienced in the behavioral health field. It does not recognize my provider ID even though it has been verified with them in the past. Almost impossible to follow-up on claim status. I will not be taking any more behavioral health patients who have UMR insurance because they can't process claims on time and you can't get through to anyone to check the status. I am on multiple insurance panels and this is by far the worst I have come across.
COLORADO -- I have had UMR for about a year now through my company and I have had to reset my password EVERY SINGLE TIME I LOGIN. It says it doesn't recognize my device when I use the same device, same browser every time. It also requires me to answer security questions EVERY TIME - so frustrating. I've even checked the "Recognize Device" box and it never seems to recognize it. I don't understand how this can be this complicated of a process.
UTAH -- As a healthcare provider, I called at least five times. First time I was told I would receive the requested fax - never sent. Second time - I was told an e-mail would be sent to client I was calling on behalf of - never sent to her.
SALISBURY, MARYLAND -- If you like having to call an insurance company every two weeks and having claims consistently denied even when they are covered on your plan. This is the medical insurance for you. They have terrible customer service and have learned to deny all claims and cheap customers out of their money. I pray no one has to deal with the terrible services I continue to get with so called insurance company.
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Requested more insurance cards for other covered members of my family, no response, no cards, months of requests, cannot do it Multiple emails from UMR about explanations of benefits to be viewed online, unable to find them on-line tech support unavailable waited on hold 30 minutes. Can't submit claims on-line, can you believe it in 2019?
