Dining Room Table

MILLVILLE, NEW JERSEY -- We recently bought a dining room table, 2 trundle beds, couch, ottoman and pull up coffee table. The dining room table looks like someone took a black marker and put lines on it about 1 inch long against the grain of the wood. I counted 44 marks just on the tabletop. When we went into the store to see if the display model looked the same way it didn't. Not 1 mark. We talked to manager he order another table.

Delivery guys brought it and there was even more of the same marks. They tell us this is distressed wood after the fact. The floor model they are selling doesn't look like this. The chairs are cheap. We had 1 rung on the chair break the 2nd day and another 2 weeks later. I feel like I shopped at a discount furniture store and I have a table that someone wrote on with a sharpie. We had 6 knobs pull off the trundle beds when being pulled out. The furniture is made very cheap.

BELAIR, MARYLAND -- Purchased a dining room set and living room set in May 2012, it is now August and still no furniture! I am already paying for something that hasn't been delivered, and NEVER did I get a phone call to let me know what is going on. I have called them repeatedly and I get the run-around. They are going to check and call me back and never do, or they lie and say "looks like should be in soon" just to get me off the phone. Horrible customer service. I am going to the store today to speak with a manager, not expecting any results, but I will make sure that anyone looking to buy from them hears me, and go somewhere else to get their furniture...

Update: Went to the store and asked to speak to a manager. She listened for a few seconds to all my complaints, asked for my phone number, checked the computer and stated that they are receiving a shipment in 2 weeks. No apology, no concern at all. Told her I am tired of being told the same thing over and over, and that I wanted to cancel the order, her response? "OK" and proceeded to issue the refund. They simply DO NOT CARE!

Inferior quality, poor customer service, all sales final!

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE -- The table arrived with a split adjacent to a leg where the screw was inserted too close to the edge; this was discovered after moving the table and the delivery men left. We called immediately and were told to email pictures. After several days, I had to call back, be put on hold and told a technician would come out to fix it. We described the problem as a split in the wood. Another day and we were told it would be replaced before Christmas. Christmas came and went and no word. I called the next week, got put on hold for 15 minutes, had to hang up and never got as call back.

I called the next day and was told the table was discontinued and I could get a store credit for the purchase price (which meant I would lose the $90 delivery charge). I asked for a refund and was told "all sales are final". I strongly recommend getting your furniture elsewhere. Do not be fooled by the showroom, the sales force (which work on commission) or the "quality" of the furniture. The products are poorly made and the store policies will leave you stranded. Caveat emptor.

Not Another Dime of My Hard Earned Money

Will never purchase another thing from this furniture store. Furniture finally came 2 months later after being lied to about the date it would arrive. Got the furniture and the dinnette set evidently was one that was dismantled off the floor because it definitely wasn't new. Someone had written on one of the legs on the table and the bolts to put it together wouldn't fit in the holes because they were either stripped. I paid cash money to have something new not something off the floor that was boxed to look new. I just pray I'm doing something wrong and that I can get the bolts to fit in the hole if not I'm screwed!!! No pun intended.

Terrible Customer Service

FARMINGDALE, NEW YORK -- We spent about an hour and half deciding on a dining room set, negotiated a price, set up a delivery date and even inputted our order into a computer. When we went up to the "service counter" to pay, we were told for the first time that we could not purchase an uneven number of chairs. Would have been nice to know this before wasting time in the store!

The Manager whom I spoke to on the phone the next day was unwilling to make good on the deal that we had negotiated with our salesman and refused to give me information about the regional manager or district manager. Very unprofessional.

Poor Quality dining room set

MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA -- We bought a dining room set and hutch only two years ago from Ashley Furniture. Three of our eight chairs have wobbly legs. The wood finish on the table top is chipped, dented, worn, and looks awful. The black finish on the table legs and especially the chairs looks very bad as well. The chairs seem to be made of soft, cheap (fiberboard?) material that dents and chips very easily. The hutch has held up better than the table and chairs so far. The upholstery on the chairs has strings hanging from it. I would NEVER buy anything but solid wood after this experience.

To be fair, we bought our furniture at the Myrtle Beach store, and we did NOT have a bad experience with the sales people, as it seems many on this site have had. Our salesman actually gave us an extra table leaf that was sitting unused in the warehouse for free.

Very Bad Customer Service, and No Knowledge in Work Ethics

The customer service I received during my shopping at Ashley's in Richmond has been a roller coaster ride. Their work ethics and knowledge on company procedures need some major fixing and training. Customer that spend their hard earn money especially Soldiers at a business or company expect to be treated with the up-most respect as a customer, cause after all we are putting money in the business and in the sale person for their assistance. But after going through what I just went through these past 6 days with this company, will guarantee me that I will never again nor will I'll let friends and family buy from this store again.

I had purchased a 6 pc dining set and when it was delivered, it came with broken bolts mounted on the table preventing it from being put together. The delivery personnel took it back and gave us a number to call, and that's when the headache began. After calling countless of times and calling back to store, speaking to Ass. Manager, Supervisors, Floor Managers, and at the end e-mailing the owner which to this day no respond, nothing was accomplished and still have no clue whether or not this table issue ever gotten resolved.

So here I sit in my home with chairs and center poll and no table for my family. And oh by the way it was purchased cashed. So I ask myself, where is the customer respect, customer service and customer satisfaction. Where will my family eat this Thanksgiving, being that we have no table. One unsatisfied and very upset Soldier!!!

Disappointed, Very Poor Quality

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA -- Be warned - Quality is NOT HERE. Read all of the reviews first before you buy. I wish I had. There is a reason they don't sell the furniture you pay for on site. Once it is sent to you, you're stuck, and you have to deal with a warranty company if you're lucky to have bought the warranty.

1st, after a month of endless requests for a local manager, I had to look for help through their service after 4 voicemails to the local manager in Northern Indiana store were NEVER answered. Service representative came out, and after a little over a month, there has been no follow up as promised.

Issues: The finish on all table surfaces and the Cradenza and chairs is so thin you can scrape down to bare wood with a dull fingernail. If the furniture is for looks only, buy here. If you plan to use it for anything else, you are better off going elsewhere. Value City or Big Lots Furniture would be better than the quality of furniture we received. DO NOT GIVE UP - I am going to file a suit to reimburse me for over $4500 of cost of furniture, and hopefully require them to take furniture back and cover time and legal and court fees. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Get EVERYTHING a Salesperson promised in writing.

Poor Customer Service

ALABAMA -- First, dining table and chairs my Mom purchased have already begun to fall apart. The legs of the chairs are metal and the screws have fallen out. The living room ensemble she purchased and paid cash for on May 4, still has not been delivered as of June 11. She was told delivery date would be around May 24.

No phone call from store when this did not happen. She finally had to call and was told they were behind and they would call when it was ready for delivery. To me this is not acceptable. If she just didn't hate to go out looking again, she would have canceled the order. As for me and her, we will never purchase from Ashley again. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Do Not Buy From Ashley's

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- I purchased a dining room table with 6 chairs and server from Ashley Furniture (Jefferson Mall). Two days prior to delivery Ashley called to say there was a problem with 1 of the chairs. Okay I can live with that, but the real trouble started when they delivered the rest. The server had only 1 leg out of 4 that fit. The server was left upside down on my old table for 5 weeks. The table had Staples on the underside. The leaf for the table would not line up an inch or so on both sides. Five chairs were delivered one with a burn spot on it and none of the 5 would sit without rocking. AFter 4 weeks they finally delivered another server with a big scratch on the top.

Now in my home I have 2 servers remember 1 without legs another scratch and 7 chairs and one messed up table. Call Sharon **, Barry **, Chris Caprico (CEO) at 1-800-290-2347 or 502-238-2353..or ** (director of sales 1-317-885-1171.. Ashley is to come pick up all the furniture and returns by money to me on Saturday @ 8 am. I'll keep you posted.
