FAIRFIELD, NEW JERSEY -- I felt compelled to write a review after reading all of the awful reviews about Ashley. My husband and I stopped into Ashley Furniture not necessarily planning on making a purchase. We were greeted by a salesman, Ian, but he was very friendly and not annoyingly pushy, and we told him what we were looking for. He took us around the store, showing us different items, etc. He spent a good amount of time with us.

Because we found really nice items at good prices, we decided to make a purchase that night. We shopped on Saturday night and scheduled delivery for the following Friday. The delivery showed up as scheduled and everything looked great.

The only hiccup was that they mistakenly put us down for the floor model on the dining room table (which we had considered taking) and because of that, that was delivered separately the following week. Because of the mistake, we requested a late delivery (so we wouldn't have to take a day off from work) and that was granted. Shortly after our purchase, we received a postcard in the mail from Ian, our salesman, thanking us for our business. Nice touch! We will go back to Ashley when we're in the market for more furniture!

After reading the reviews here, I was quite worried after purchasing a table & chairs from Ashley (direct from one of their own stores, not a vendor). I shouldn't have been. Our order arrived complete, without damage, and earlier than expected. We received a call a few days before delivery where we set the day. They called the day before with a 4-hour window. The drivers called 30 minutes before they arrived.

Everything happened as expected and as promised (except they said 2 1/2 weeks minimum and we had it in less than 2 weeks). The deal was pretty good, and I have no complaints. I wanted to make a posting to give them my compliments since there are plenty of negative experiences here. Sometimes the only vocal people are the ones who had issues.

The branch manager was the one who helped us in the store. He checked the stock, twice, before entering our order. Maybe vendors don't check like they should. There is no noticeable quality difference between showroom and what's in our breakfast room. Same paint, finish, materials, and construction.

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- Ashley Furniture sucks **! The furniture was poor in quality and it seemed to have been placed in dumpster for storage. I found debris all inside the drawers and the back was hanging on by a few nails. The table had big wood chips missing and the chairs were next to impossible to put together because they were so badly warped. I wanted to write a review at their website, but they did not have a link to do so... imagine that. I'm currently stationed at Fort Knox, KY and I will send a request Garrison Commander to place Ashley furniture on the "Black List" so all soldiers currently stationed here and for those in the future NOT to shop there!

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA -- I knew exactly what I wanted to purchase - a round pub height oak dining table. I finally found what I thought was my dream table at Ashley Furniture in SW Indiana. However, after a few months, the finish on the tabletop began to flake off and the surface bubbled. Since I regularly used Liquid Gold on the table and took good care of it, I do not believe it was damaged by being in my home. When we took the tabletop down to the store, the manager said that it was water damage and that it was not covered by the warranty, that it was not a manufacturing fault. Failure to properly finish a wooden product is a fault in the manufacturing. The finish was not properly applied.

After arguing with the manager, he "generously" offered to replace the top at a "special" discounted price. Since the top we had looked like it had sat out at a park in the rain for 2 years with NO protective finish, we purchased the new top. When my husband opened the box, he saw open grain on the table top, along with several nicks in the finish. We decided to cut our losses and not fight with the store again. He applied a finish coat to the table top so that it will not flake like the last one did, and we resolved never to purchase furniture at that store again.

By the way, after we initially received the table and accompanying chairs, I realized it was made in China. So, in a nutshell, the furniture was not quality made, the store does not honor its warranties, and the manager was essentially rude. For better quality furniture, go to Big Lots.

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA -- I purchased furniture from Ashley prior to happening upon this site. I was actually in the process of waiting to have furniture delivered when I read the many horrible experiences that people had with Ashley. Needless to say, I was very worried. Well, my furniture was recently delivered AS SCHEDULED. I checked the furniture and it had no dings, knicks, etc. I am happy to say everything went very smoothly. No problems at all. All of my communication with sales and customer service was great. The delivery men were very professional and polite, arrived when they said they would, and worked fast and carefully.

I'll be on the look out for defects as we use the furniture, but I'm hoping to have no problems in the future. Sorry to everyone who had a bad experience with Ashley. I hope the owners will see their problems and make it right with their customers.

SPRINGFIELD, OREGON -- We purchased our furniture several months before our new house was completed. And at Ashley, they were kind enough to hold our furniture for several months...at NO extra charge! That's amazing! When we received our furniture, it was beautiful and in perfect condition. I am so pleased. But I must admit that I was very nervous about doing business with a company that has so many bad reviews here on this website.

I imagine when consumers are happy with a purchase, they don't always want to post comments about it, because they are satisfied. But if a consumer is very unhappy, they will try to find ways to warn others, and to vent their frustrations. So I just wanted to let others know I am happy with Ashley Furniture in Springfield, Oregon.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I have to say that I am very disappointed in this company. People pay good money for what they think they are buying. I live in San Antonio. I bought 2 chairs at this store then they sent me to Austin to pick up the table and then to New Braunfels to pick up the remaining chair. What a fiasco!!! I get home start putting the table together and about to put the final leg on and it's missing a vital part the "anchor", and it's not a normal one. Then on the chairs one of the boards was missing so now I have no table and 5 chairs for Thanksgiving Dinner. Thanks.

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA -- The salesman at the store was very helpful without being pushy and gave me plenty of time to walk around and find just what I was looking for. I ordered a high top table with bar stool type chairs and they are beautiful. Very sturdy and heavy, I know I will have this for a long time.

PORTLAND, OREGON -- I bought a cafe height table and chairs. The chair stretchers are falling off one by one and the table top finish is so poor, we can see raw wood. I called Customer Service and their only help was to sell me new stretchers. I wrote the CEO, Tod Wanek in Arcadia WI and got no response. This company obviously does not stand by the items it sells. I was willing to work with them and may be get a credit toward a better set. Now I won't ever set foot in their store again.

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA -- I was very happy with my experience at Ashley Furniture. I got a beautiful dining set and the sales team to the delivery went flawlessly. Highly recommend them.
