When returning Dish equipment, never just drop off the box at a UPS drop off site and think all will be good.

When cancelling service, Dish gives you 30 days to return the equipment to avoid being charged, which is plenty of time if everything goes well. This includes the 7-10 day period you wait for Dish to send you the box(es) and return shipping label(s).

When sending the equipment back, be sure to have UPS check the label and provide you with the estimated return time. I recently sent back equipment and discovered the return label Dish provided was no good and UPS couldn't locate the address in their system. I called Dish from the UPS store and explained the situation and the CSR told me they'd never had this happen before and I should go to another UPS store and have them check the address. To make a long story short (after spending more than 30 minutes on the phone with their customer service), the CSR realized they'd sent out a return label with an invalid address. I also discovered that they have several locations one can return equipment to. The first address (in Texas) they gave me was going to take 11 days to get there and would cost me over $80 to ensure it got there on time (don't even think about asking them for an extension, even if they send out the wrong return label), finally I was given an address in Colorado that would take only 4 days.

Once you do finally get the package shipped, be sure to track through the UPS website and if you have any bank account information on file with Dish, cancel it immediately. I lucked out and got the equipment back with one day to spare.

Ya, I returned the equipment to Texas without insurance, big mistake as they sent me to collections. Well I know they got that equipment back, on time, and I will never, ever, pay them even a wooden nickel. ZERO is what they are getting, this company is a rip-off all the way. Now Dish charges $17.00 to send the equipment back, which will be debited out of our account. I will never go back to Dish, they suck!

Not going with Dish ever again. Recently moving out of my house to rent it out so cancelled Dish after 3 years of service and never knew that we will have to ship the equipment back and then pay for the shipping also. I don t know why was then I in a contract of 2 years with them if you dont even get equipment with your contract. Comcast is the way to go for now. No contract and no issues dropping off equipment to your nearest cable office, duh!

I will never ever return to Dish. We have been a customer of theirs for over 15 years. They wouldn't update the equipment, gave us a hard time with getting new remotes and to top it all off when we finally switched to another company they are charging us $34 to return their outdated equipment. They said we had 30 days and we had to call them twice to get them to send the boxes to us!! They best not charge us since it was their fault about the boxes. They really need to rethink their customer service people! They are without a doubt the worst I have dealt with in my lifetime

Here it is Sunday, Dec 2nd, ready for a day of watching the NFL. What no Fox network available to Dish Network customers?!!!! We pay our bill every month for Dish services. Why is it that Dish cannot provide what we pay for and count on??! Whats their consequences for messing with our Sunday? We should get a reduced bill or better yet, deliver what they promise!!!!

kls2134u, we completely understand your frustration we with negotiation. Unfortunately, Northwest is known to take programming away from their viewers in an effort to get money. They have done this with other providers twice in the past two years, and as recently as a few months ago. We will continue to work hard towards reaching a fair agreement soon!

It's not just DISH...this has just happened with Cox Cable as well. As of January 1st, we were left without TBS, METV and two other channels because as mentioned by CheriT@DISH, they were trying to negotiate the programing fees with the network(s) or whatever. They wanted to charge COX cable with an increase of 220%!!! Cox said if they agreed, they would have to raise the customer's cable bill. We were without those channels for one week...if it was going to be any longer, I was going to call them for an adjustment on my cable bill. Afterall, if we would be charged more for those channels if we got them, then, by golly we should pay less if we don't get them...the bill should not remain the same. Yeah, I know, they can be changed 'without notice'...but, I would have still called about it. Man-O-Man, a WEEK without the Honeymooners!! HOW DARE THEY!!!

We are having the same experience with trying to watch the Yankees play on ESPN, a channel we pay for, but don't get the game when it's on. Dish says well it should be on a local channel, but it's Not!! So each time this happens we call, and ask for a manager, and demand credit on our bill each time we do not get the channel we are paying for, and we get that credit. If a bunch of us do this they will loose a lot of money, and then Maybe they will get the point.

I don't understand how Dish customers are loyal and pay their bill and can't watch what they paid for. Customer service gave me an option to watch it on my computer who wants to sit up in front of a computer and watch TV yet along I sit in front of one ALL DAY. I'm missing the news and the stories. No credit or adjustments. Just got referred from a friend now this. Who wants to go through ALL the hassle to change providers. I hope they resolve this issue real quick because DIRECT TV M COMCAST IS NOT AM OPTION for me!!!!! I am very angry disappointed about this.

I don't mind paying my bill for service but would like to get compensation for service I don't get. Please tell me we will get compensation for the days we don't get service. I an 76 years old and this is my main form of entertainment so I will miss some shows that I watch.

Dish just blocked my local channel 3 out of Louisville Ky. I am furious! This is my favorite channel. Dish you are making a serious mistake. People love that station around here. Been on air for years.

Just blocked channel 5 out of Charleston SC. Same situation, station has been around forever. I left Direct TV after 8 years and have been with Dish ever since. After this incident, they can both kiss my @ and $! It is rediculous the money they charge and can't negotiate like professionals. Are you serious? Block the channels because you don't get what you want? How about I stop paying you be ause I don't get what I want??

Chill out people. Im upset too but its not dishs fault. Its raycom. Switching providers wont work, they all go through this. You complain, but if they didnt do this from time to time your subscriotion price would eventually double. Then you would be complaining even more. They will get it worked out, but a couple days without one company's channels is worth keeping the cost down.

I'm so mad with adults acting like kids. Come on did Dish not know what was going to happen when they allowed this block to happen. You must be asking to go under. I just retired 4 weeks ago and enjoy watching The Today Show and Hoda and Kathie Lee in the mornings. I will probably be switching to Direct ASAP. Direct can't cost that much more, because too many that I know have it. It's just like the job I just retired from, politics, politics and more politics! Sick to my stomach Dish.

I have been a loyal Dish customer for 6 months and decided to use them specifically because they provided local channels. NBC broadcasting out of Memphis just disappeared yesterday. No warning, no memo, or even an automated phone message. I'm beyond disappointed and am sure if I didn't pay my bill on time, I'd certainly be hearing from them reminding me of our agreement. Well I hope they read this and KNOW that I will not pay a cent more until said agreed services are restored. Put Memphis' NBC back on the air!

We here in Texas are having the same thing happen year after year. I think maybe it's time for the FCC and congress look into this problem and shut down these price gougin, corruption, money grubbing charectors and give us what we pay for. They are quick to bill us and refuse to refund the time that we're missing our programs that we paid them for. It's like buying a dozen eggs and you only get ten but get charged for thirteen. Time to investigate all these crooks.

I think about it this way,
I buy a TV, Then maintain it, I then buy a provider service and pay for that hookup., Then I sit and watch commercials that the providers get paid for, yet I'm paying the providers also. If you want to watch from another room, you must pay for that also. If you wish to watch another chanell rather than the crap that the providers furnish, you pay for that also. The providers flood your plans with junk that no one watches and you have no choice. You cannot swap chanells, you have to pay for that also. I guess you get the point by now that we as consumers are a bunch of idiots. Who as regulators for the consumers let someone get away with this is beyond me.

Time for Congress to set some guidelines on these cable companies. Is this not price gashing? Dish seems to have a communication problem when it comes to management skills. They need to get on board and change their position. This person is feed up with losing channels and you get a little of nothing for losing the channels. Yet we pay a high price for these channels.

we have recently lost kfvs on our local channels which provide our local weather and local news

we were offered other options such as watching local news that is one hundred miles away and given a free preview of the Game Show Network which I already have and never watch lol this is the most silly thing I have ever heard of and also switch to another company that is on digit off from their customer service hmmmm please get on your big boy/girl pants and settle this with Raycom my whole area is thinking of dumping all of you and listen to radio or just watching what we have on hand

Yes, Dish does suck. They have dropped channels that were on my list when I signed on with them. Now I have been without a major network ( CBS ) for five days. I'ii bet they wouldn't let you out of the contract although they have not lived up to their end of it.

It ticks me off too that I have lost my Fox and NBC stations in Jackson, MS but the problem is not DISH. Its the megamedia broadcasting companys that own numerous stations across the country trying to extort more money out of satellite and cable companys.Instead if complaining to DISH call your local stations and urge them to come to an agreement soon. If they had any sense they wouls realize this will lose viewers which leads to lost advertising dollars.

In the 4 years which I have had Dish, there have been contract negotiations which have interupted my service with FX, AMC, and now our local stations... Dish I say, "Enough is enough!' Each time some interuption has occured, Dish always blames the networks involved... I am also am aware there seem to be an increase in the cost of my service at quite a regular rate in so much that now I am paying nearly $100.00 a month and that is for only the stations and not any HBO, Starz, etc... I just realized that I have lost abc channel 9 and the fox station 54. CBS had this same problem just a few months ago and Settled their problem. Why can't Dish do the same for these other channels? As some have pointed out it is price gouging political nonsense and totally unprofessional with the way these negotiations are conducted. I hope for our sakes the loyal customer that an agreement can be reached and our stations are restored. If not I will change service providers if necessary.

New Customer! Promised 100% channels, now Dish did not signed an agreement with NBC. All this Bla,bla, bla about negociations, Dish keeps saying in a few weeks. It's happening all over. Look at the complains since 2012, Now they are asking $460 to get out of the contract. If you keep having unhappy customers, you'll be out of business very soon. Definitely DISH SUCKS.

We have been without 3 of our local channels for about 2 weeks. I called Direct and was about to change providers until I found a site listing all of the disputes the other cable providers have had and the length until negotiations were reached. I have had Dish for about 10 yrs and this is the first time that they have actually lost channels. I am going to stick it out another week and see if the channels come back. It would be a real bummer to switch providers and have the new one go down.

I am very disappointed that channel 7 may be taken away from your customers. We pay for quality service and expect it in return. We pay our bill regularly as you ask. We live in an area where cable is not available, so we need a dish of some type. With the technology of today, we should not be required to buy an antenna to receive wanted stations, that's why we pay your company!!! I do hope you resolve this problem among yourselves soon. Well as warned in advance, here it is the 1st of October and my local CBS is gone. I don't really understand why CBS can charge four times their norm in order to allow DISH to carry local channel WJHL. Surely there is legislation that would make this illegal. I have Wi-Fi, but don't really want to watch CBS on my computer. Can't get cable where I live, and understand DirecTV is having the same issues. Just because your number one CBS doesn't mean you can set your own price, there is a reason why. Don't blame DISH.

You know what I am going to do. First of all I will cancil agrement with the provider and just play dvds of my choice plck and choose o and listen to the news a weather on the radio. You ca get all the good movies and tv shows on dvd. But they will try to screw that plan up too. Choice 3 buy games play cards talk to one another. That's a new one. No more texing.

A friend who got $50 dollars for talking me into signing up with Dish network. Worse mistake I very made. Every time a cloud comes up I lose signal. Never had that problem with At and t. They never dropped my local channels. Wish I could get out of this contract. Does anyone know how to get out of the contract without paying a lot of money? If anyone ever ask you to change so they can get the $50 give them the money and keep your provider. Dish get NBC back in Birmingham NOW!!!

Just switch to charter. At least with them U get ALL local (FREE) channels free. I had really thought about giving dish a try but Why pay outrageous prices for programs U can no longer watch. WSPA is the main channel I watch. That's 1 reason, and the other is the internet is no where near as fast as Charter. The main reason I was even thinking about trying the Sunday football deal, but that's OK I rather have channel 7.. I feel sorry for those who got took in by a co that can't or won't do what it takes.to make customers happy. Sounds like they trying to get more money outta ppl and that's gonna be their way of eventually raising prices. nuf said

What about the contract we signed with Dish stating you would provide us with a certain listed named stations. Dish is in violation of the contract and compensation should be made to all customers effective. I am very disappointed with Dish Network and plan to change.

My family has been with Dish for over 10 years. I am very disappointed about our local channels being taken away. We watch more local channels than any of the channels, yet we are paying for them! What kind of racket is this? WHY are the consumers being screwed? Why can't we pay for only the channels we want? Can someone please answer my questions. Actively checking other options. I am going to drop my dish if channel 7 and 21 is not back on by next wk I can get it cheaper with charter.anyway no matter if anyone is under a contract you took our channels off so you cant make anyone pay if they cancel it this same thing happen last year but the channels were never taken off so i am thinking they are not coming back on dish will loose a lot of customers and charter doesn't go off when a cloud comes up

I have been a Dish customer for years, and do not want to change, but since the CBS negotiations are taking so long, I'm considering it.
Missed "Amazing Race" "The Good Wife" and "The Mentalist" last night...if they mess with Gibbs this Tuesday, I'm switching!!

Yep I agree, DISH NETWORK SUCKS, we are thinking about changing over to Direct Tv........ Not only has dish taken away channel 2 NBC they have taken away channel 50 CW as well and then they expect us to pay the same old high rate prices for channels we are not getting then they don't even offer a low price or up grades to substitutes for the channels lost, they want their money but they don't want to provide services we pay for...... I called and complained and asked for 2 other channels to be added to my account that has my shows on it and they said sure but, you gotta pay a extra $35 a month for them... Have they lost their minds? Thy took away 2 channels and can't even provide 2 others in their place with out wanting more money....How can they run a business like that and think people aren't gonna get mad..... Yep they have lost their minds and DISH SUCKS!!!!!

Im very displeased with dish . I haven't had cbs over a month . So I've been missing NFL and college football games and I'm fed up. I wouldn't have got dish if I knew this would happen. Dish need to realize without.Customers. no them!!!!!

I just to keyc tv and now know why we are losing our local channels. Dish wants something that is not theirs. Why do big corporations need to be that way. I am seriously thinking about changing my tv provider . You are right. Dish sucks.

I am really disappointed that we are not getting FOX! And now it is time for the World Series, something we really looked forward to watching. I switched to Dish thinking it was much better than Direct. Get with it and settle your dispute! You should at least reduce your monthly bill if you are not supplying us with the channels we are suppose to be receiving!!!

Turning off CBS and fox stations shows that doesn't give a dam about its customers. Will they decrease my monthly payments for their action? I doubt it. Its free money. I will switch to direct if they can't provide the service I signed up for. They're holding all customers as hostages til they pull their head out of you know were.

Since Dish no longer offers a CBS channel, the only real option is to cancel Dish and go with Direct TV. We've had Dish since 1996, but we watch CBS more than any other network. Dish is forcing us to go with Direct TV.

Up until this time I have been very satisfied with DISH and have recommended it to others whole heartedly. I am very, very disappointed. Another week without my three favorite channels and I go to Direct TV. Sympathy from DISH PR folks doesn't make up for the loss. You could do the right thing, DISH, and lower your charge to us for the nonservice.

No Sunday Night football really got to us. DISH putting blame on the broadcasters for contract disputes might be partially true but I say, if DISH would stop making those inane commercials ridiculing DTV services they incessantly shove down our throats, and concentrate more on amicable contract settlements with broadcasters, we'd all benefit!

I was doing alright going to SOAPnet to catch that show at least. Now it too is blocked.
I was blaming dish for raising the rates on the stations and in reality it was just the opposite. So it is the major stations that do not really care whether not we watched their shows. that is who we should be complaining to.

Dish Network HD upgrade extended two year contract w/forged signatures

Requested an upgrade receiver including HD. The receiver was a reman receiver and did not work work properly! I called DN to return the receiver of which the gave me a bunch of crap. Therefore, I canceled the account and switched to Direct TV. DN sent a box with a prepaid UPS shipping label which was received in Texas including conformation of shipping & receiving. Now, her is the rub; when I did the upgrade to HD I asked if there was a contract involved there reply was NO! Due to lousy service I canceled of which they said I would be required to Pay at least a two your contract. Requested a copy of the contract and come to find out my signature were forged. I showed this contract to my attorney of witch he stated the signatures were mechanically forged (all three are exactly the same). The contract was sent to and received by the State Attorney General for review and followup. The State AG is now in contact with DN.

with either satellite programing provider, any time there is an upgrades or changes to the account, the contract is automatically extended. buried somewhere deep in the fine print, it says they are allowed to do so.

I just spoke with a rep after they informed me my Equip. is "obsolete" When the truth is they deactivated my smart card to get me to call them. I was told by the rep "I do not lie we will upgrade your reciever for free and there is no contract attached to it. I asked why I need a tech to come and install when I can do it myself as I did the first one. She insisted a tech has to do it. Judgeing from my previous experience and reviews I have seen they just lied to me again. according to the dish rep Becki Barned above, ALL UPGRADES require a contract. I wont be continuing their service

I just read on another complaint that explains the reason they wont send the free upgrade reciever to me is so they can have the tech who brings it out have me sign his work order saying it was done and that I agree to a 2 year contract(on the back in fine print). even after they said there is no contract associated with this. Never sign anything with these people. Several months ago they I paid with a debit card and they began helping themselves to my account without my permission or even sending me a bill. I contacted the bank and made sure they could never access my account again and If I remember correctly the bank did a charge back and got my money back.

Wish I had done a search about Dish Network before signing on with them. It's mind boggling how many complaints I've read in one hour. And this Dish Internet Response Team is a joke. To anyone considering signing up with them, DO NOT DO IT!! Very soon you'll be able to buy online TV anyway for about $8/month. Go to aereo.com and check it out. Also, there is Veetle and JTV too. Dish is nothing less than corrupt. They need to GO. I'm here to help that happen.

Return Equipment Scam!

CENTRAL POINT, OREGON -- I cancelled my account in July, I was sent one box to return 2 receivers, in the box was a letter that said something about not receiving a box for obsolete equipment and there was a list of equipment. I sent back the receiver and remote that was on the list. I held on to the other receiver to make sure that there wasn't going to be an issue later. In OCTOBER I get an email and a bill in the mail stating that my account will be charged $250 bucks for unreturned equipment! I called and spoke with a representative who told me not to worry about the charge that he could see that I received an email that showed that my equipment was returned successfully. I wanted a confirmation number and he said my name is Neil, and you won't have a problem as he laughed... He again said, " you will not be charged, I took care of it." I was hesitant, but I wrote down his name and then finally took the receiver that had been sitting on my kitchen table for over 2 months and put it in the recycle bin. I did not get charged for it and I kept checking my account to make sure. My account was locked and I could no longer log in without restarting the service.

So yesterday I get an email that simply said, " Your account will be automatically deducted for $250." It did not say why or anything. I clicked on the link that was supposed to take me to billing and again it will not let me log on to my account. I called and got no where. They stated that the receiver was not obsolete and the best the could do was take $50 off for the chip on the dish itself.?? I was never told that I would even have to climb on the roof and remove some piece of the dish and return it. I told the representative that I have the dish still in my back yard and I will send that piece to them. Then the representative tells me that it's not necessary and they don't need it and it would cost more to return it than it's worth!!!! So, they are charging me for a receiver that they said was obsolete, then they changed there mind 3 months later and want it back, then they add $50.00 for a part that they don't really want!! WTH??

All I can say is the whole company is based on trickery, deceit, and lies! Why would I purposely keep their stupid receiver? If they had sent me the box I would have sent it back to them. Grr.. I'm so very frustrated. I wish there was a lawsuit that I could be a part of.

I place the service on September 2011 with a monthly charge of $28.00 however the subsequent months were increased to 72.16. I contacted customer service to inquire the montly charge and they said "dont worry, the adjustment will be on your statement". But still in my statement. The box was damage and they let me know that sent to them but few weeks later they claimed that they did not received it and I received in my billing statment $300.00 charge in my account in the next month. I called to cancel my service and they let me know that I have to pay $100, and sent to them a personnal check with this quantity. But I still have the service. I called again and they let me know thta the service will be canceled until the contract expieration on September 2011. Thank lord the screen of my cable display that the service was discontinue. Today I received a charge of $72.16 in my billing statement. I cant believe! I called again and they told that my service is active. Did you believe. In conclusion I gave two months free (a total of $144.00) without the service.
Keep out of this cable company. I go through a nightmare and still pending to return the boxes and the something in the antenna.

I have two receivers, but dish sent only one box to return their equipment. I called the two telephone numbers, but they are automated so I could not request another box for the equipment. I certainly cannot be stuck with fines and fees on my retirement money. So, how can I get a proper box for delivering Dish their equipment??

I had cancelled my DISH account over 2 years ago. It was in good standing (no fees due, all contract obligations fulfilled) and I sent back the equipment as requested. Now, for the last month, I have been getting dunned by DISH with phone messages telling me to return the equipment or be charged... and frankly, I thought it was a scam so did not respond. However, the calls now say 'thank you' for returning the equipment and that my account is being charged... and I have not called DISH yet as I searched online to see if there were reports of a scam and came across this column and would appreciate suggestions about the proper course of action to take... Thank you...

we have experienced the very same thing and we are looking into doing a law suit, this seems to be happening to a lot of different people. We should all join... we work hard for our money like to give it away for something we are not at fault for and followed Dish's directions on how to send only one receiver back to be charged for the other later on.

As a former tech support agent of dish, I find their products and services to be way below par. The products overall, are of very poor quality and the representatives they hire are of extremely varying degrees of expertise...

One of the big jokes would have to be any model DVR reciever. It would not be at all uncommon for DVRs to produce hard-drive failure as short as 6 months after activation (error #0457, #311 etc.), it was a joke among some of us that anyone calling in to activate a DVR 510 might as well tune to channel 101 (DNFYI) to get a good look at the guy who is ripping them off (C.E.O Charlie)

The 510 as a whole was a bad idea, made evident by the announcment that first, dish network would stop producing them (under the reasoning that this was in preparation for mpeg-4 compression) followed by the like new dvr upgrade promotion, which gave away the 510 with a pricetag of $50, And don't think you're safe if you're leasing the reciever, with dish network the word lease is in no way a synonym for warranty.

Another fun step, was what we called the "front-panel reset" which consisted of the customer pressing and holding the power button on the front panel of the reciever for roughly 7 seconds, which is all well and good, but I can't count the number of times that we had to skip this step, being that the front panel button on the front of the box had long since collapsed inside (which qualifies as customer damage according to dish network's testing department)

Oh, and if a rep ever concludes with telling you that they'll just get you set up to get a "new" reciever ...think again. There are no longer any new recievers if replaced under any warranty (DHPP,DHA,DHP) etc.. That's right baby, all refurbished equipment, in fact , it is not until the 3rd RA (Return Authorization) of a reciever that it actually gets scrapped. And of course , dish doesn't exactly advertise that it is all refurbished, as far as you know, its "new".

So, the next time your call to tech support results in you getting transfered to "level 2 tech" you can be sure that your account has been noted "xfer to atr, possible truck roll" and you can also be sure that the next agent will have you hop through some more hoops before informing you that you can get a technician sent to your home for the low-low cost of $99 ($30 under Dish Home Protection) ...the moral of the story, stick with cable, equipment is free and so is a service call...

I agree, cable is MUCH better. Truck rolls really ARE free! If you have cable in your area, go with it. Dish stinks. Also, did you get burned by your former company? You seem a bit, well, vengeful.

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- They bill through auto payments for a reason. We moved during our contract and the service man was unable to get us service at the new location. They found a way to charge our bank account even though we changed banks. Their customer service is all foreign and they read from a piece of paper as you try to talk to them. They said because I returned all of the equipment, we could no longer suspend service until we moved to another location with service. They will charge any credit card they can find in your family. They were unable to give us service but charged us the termination fee anyway. This contract is ridiculous and you are foolish to sign it.

How far were you into your two year contract? Both satellite providers have a 2 year contract which amortizes the expenses with the startup of your service. Once you begin service, you are obligated to pay for two years, period.

I agree the use of the contract to directly take money from an account is dubious, it has been litigated and the companies won. You agreed to it when you signed the contract.

BONNE TERRE, MISSOURI -- I was experiencing some serious financial problems and I allowed my Dish Network service to be disconnected. The system is automatically supposed to forward shipping labels/boxes in order to return their equipment. I did not receive
either, but did come home to find an overdraft notice from my bank. Dish had taken $600 from my checking account without authorization or notification. The charge caused my checks to bounce all over town. I ended up with over $370 in overdraft charges. When I FINALLY spoke with someone, I was informed that they would not credit my account back until they received the equipment.

By the time I FINALLY received the shipping labels, shipped the equipment, and contacted them with a tracking number, It took another 10 days to get my $600 back. I am currently trying to get a refund for the other $350 in overdraft charges.

They gave me a $40 refund for the OD charge on THEIR charge, but refused to take responsibility for the other checks that were returned as a result of this charge to my checking account. STAY AWAY FROM DISH NETWORK!!
I'm turning this in to the Better Business Bureau.

If anyone decides to press charges or has info and/or advice for me, please notify me.

Dish Network is inferior to Direct TV. I have had both. I recently moved my Dish recvr from MN to AZ. I had a problem with the system after their tech installed the antenna who did a really nice job by the way. I have no beef with their installation techs who do a fantastic job, but due to the problem I had the dubious pleasure of doing an online chat session to try and find out what if any problem that I was experiencing. I first was steered to a female service person who apparently gave up after a one - half hour of give and take. Then another person took over and after another half hour of typing and receiving things to try he apparently gave up also and just quit. Do not even try to get a live person on thephone unless you are willing to be on hold forever. I had Direct TV here in AZ and contacted them to see if they would reconnect me in MN if I brought my recvr with me. Since I was returning to AZ for the winter they would not do it for free. I called Dish Network in MN and they installed the system and refunded my $49.99 I think. Come to think I don't know if I did receive a refund. I'll have to check. I spoke with an East Indian person who was difficult to understand after trying to apply for the system on-line. I finally goot a definite date for the install. After this I received approximately 7 phone calls asking if I wanted to get the Dish System. All EASt Indian. Here in AZ I actually got a person who spoke very good American English. I contacted them as soon as they opened and had no wait on hold. Their web site said to contact them between 9 AM and 5 PM. I called on the dot of 9 AM EST. Sorry for long post. I also am stuck with MN Time Zone on the recvr and have found no way to change it yet. But it will be OK in MN. I wonder if I will still get AZ local channels in MN as it is programmed that way now.

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA -- If you don't want to read my entire experience, Bottom Line: DISH NETWORK HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.

I recently moved to Fairbanks Alaska and purchased my first home. I thought dealing with the cold would be the worst thing I had to do, but trying to install satellite television at my house was the biggest battle yet. When I initially called in January, they told me they could get me in for February 12th for an installation. When I called to confirm the day before, they said the earliest would be February 14th. When I asked about the change, they had nothing to tell me other than they didn't have enough technicians, or they lost the record of my previous appointment etc. I was getting frustrated because Dish was apparently the only company that serviced my home, which was why I didn't go with DirectTV in the first place. February 14th came and went with no installation.

I call them again and they said February 28th was the earliest, but they would call me in the event an earlier appointment became available...lies..all lies, just like everything they ever told me. I continued calling, and they would say February 28th, and that they had earlier appointment available before I called, but someone else called in the meantime even though I was on a mythical waiting list. Finally I called and they said they could get me in on the 26th. The 26th came and went and they said they lost the record of me changing my appointment, but they could still get me in on the 28th. As before, the 28th came and went, and then they said they could get me in on March 4th...I got so fed up, I called DirectTV, and they said they were able to service my home. They came out THE VERY NEXT DAY, and installed a satellite, and when the trees in front of my house were blocking the satellite picture, the technician drove to the nearest hardware store and BOUGHT a saw to cut down the trees. Not to mention his wife called him crying hysterically because the technician's brother was being sent to the emergency room after a two car collision. He STILL finished the installation after he talked to his brother on the phone and knew he was good to finish his job before he went to see his brother. I have NO idea how Dish Network even competes with DirectTV. Dish Network has some of the WORST customer service I have ever experienced.

DENVER, NORTH CAROLINA -- For the last month we have had nothing but problems with Dish Network. Our system continuously loses signal. I called Dish and was told that they would run a test and get back with us within 72 hours, that's been 13 days ago and no one has contacted us. I called back and scheduled a service tech to come out. He called today and said he was 15 minutes away so we hurried home from Sunday dinner at Mom's. After waiting for about an hour he calls back and says he's going to another job before us and will do his best to get here today. I called Dish and explained the problems and all they do is say sorry and offered a $20 credit. So let me get this right, my service hasn't worked correctly (some days it doesn't work at all) and they want to give me $20 off. How about crediting me for the whole month ($90) or just let me out of the contract so that I can find a company that can actually provide service. I have sent 2 emails to customer service and have had no reply. Dish Network is terrible.

As soon as I get done with this review I'm contacting Direct TV, I'll never have Dish again and will make a point to tell everyone I know how bad they are. Also, we received a letter from Dish 2 weeks ago that rates were going up. They've got a lot of nerve raising rates when the service doesn't even work. I hope Dish goes out of business.

I am on this site to check out reviews for DISH to determine their service based on comsumers and current clients. DON'T DO DIRECT TV no matter what. I would consider Cable again first.

My Dish service went off, I could only get 4 or 5 channels, no local channels, and I argued with them for 2 months over who was going to fix THEIR receiver, when I called to cancel, they said they were just getting ready to send someone to fix the problem. They have turned me over to a collection agency. TOTALLY UNFAIR, Crooks all the way. If you don't want to get taken, stay away from Dish!!!

If your signal keeps cutting off you need a new box. We went through weeks of signal loss before they sent out a tech who immediately told us we needed a new box.
We think they are crooks from all the lying and false info they give. Good luck - you'll need it!!

I had direct tv in ohio and the service was great (8 years) when I got to s c I decided to try dish and have had nothing but problems the last service person to stated that he has direct tv due to dish problems

Dish Lies And Changes Rates On Contracts Monthly

COLORADO -- We have had it with Dish, this is now the 5th time since signing up a few years ago that they are once again threatening to turn our service off. We were guaranteed a dollar amount payment through 12-31-13 by someone in Executive Resolutions and Corporate Department each time and yet a few months go by and they start their crap again.
Our monthly payment started out at $52 including taxes and before installation it went up $3.

First year we allowed auto deduction in exchange for HD for Life - we NEVER got HD as it faced a tree - and installer, the company he worked for and myself let Dish know. We then saw they were taking MORE out each month despite a written contract (that we insisted on before we would sign up as the one they offered was a joke) and despite that contract and agreement they still took out what they wanted every month. We canceled the auto deduct and were then up to $56.99 a month and then they started again adding more money every month and threatening to shut off service and again we contacted Corporate and Executive Resolutions and again agreed to $59.99 including taxes through 12-31-13.

A few months go by and I am now in hospital (a yr ago) and paid bill before going in and my husband gets a bill for $168 and change and pays it as he was so worried about me that he was not thinking. I was supposed to have a 3 hour spinal surgery which ended up 12 hrs/2 surgeons, paralyzed for 3 days/10 days ICU/5 weeks in patient/6 mos at home in hospital bed in L. R. and still only leave my house for Dr. or P. T. as I cannot sit, stand or walk for any length of time. We again get in writing at end of 2011 that our bill including taxes will be $62.99 through 12-31-13.

We have five different people from Executive Resolutions and Corporate Communications who assure us just like their ads stated that our amount would not change through end of 2013 including all taxes.

We pay our bill the day it comes each month, for the past few weeks they have been sending messages on the TV and an e mail to us that they are going to cancel service for NON Payment.

We have NEVER missed a payment and pay the bill the day it arrives and yet this time they say we owe them $98 - and yet we do not owe them one penny.

We are going to report them again to state and federal agencies that oversee Satellite Companies as the truth is, the # of days we do not have service due to Dish going out if it rains, snows or is windy exceeds the
