DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA -- Don't do business with these guys. Not only are they extremely overpriced, they also don't stick to their own contract terms. Erie Metal Roofs visited me on 1/24, and unfortunately I relented to their high-pressure sales tactics and signed a contract for a new metal roof and made a down payment using my credit card. After researching the company's reviews and pricing from other companies, I decided to cancel the contract the next business day, as the contract allowed me to do.

Per the contract, the down payment would be returned to me within 10 business days. After the ten business days had passed since my cancellation, I contacted them multiple times without getting any information regarding when my money would be refunded. After more than a month had passed, I contacted the credit card company and disputed the charge. The CC company reached out to Erie, and they finally refunded my down payment this week, more than 1.5 months after I cancelled the contract.

TOLEDO, OHIO -- Not only did they set a time and date with my husband they did not call or even show up, so I then called and set up a date. The phone bank said that it would be middle to end of September before they could come out, I said no problem, they said they would call back. Did not hear back from them. So I filled out a thing on Facebook and got a return call right away. After 45 minutes we settled on October 20, 2018 at 1pm. After 1:30 pm I got upset and called them, they were not even in my area, yet they called me on Thursday to confirm, not a sorry or anything. I would not even use this company if it was free. I cannot trust a company who cannot even show up on the date and time they set for the estimate.

JONESVILLE, MICHIGAN -- The salesman were high pressed, said they ordered the material before we even signed the bank papers. When the installer came to check out the job he said he didn't know if he could do it because he only had a 28ft ladder to install a solid one piece gutters and we have a 2 storey house, said he didn't know if he could install the work because there was a tree near one of the corners of the home. Then he got mad because he didn't do soffit work and refuse to install the gutters. When I told him about how much we paid for the gutters he laughed and said we paid way too much for them... We still haven't heard back from them.

MICHIGAN -- Sales showed at the door on time and that was the only thing he did right. He screamed at us. Swore in every sentence. After getting on roof he came in very high like they always do. Immediately knocked 13k off price. Came close to demanding 20k deposit (no contract negotiated yet) then came up with payments of 456 a month that HE was very comfortable with. He said that twice. When told we wanted time to think about it he became angry and stayed, I didn't come all this easy to leave without a signed contract. No more, he was told to leave at that point. Would definitely NOT use this company.

TOLEDO, OHIO -- I found them on Facebook. Received a call from a very nice woman to make an appointment. Two salesman showed up. They took measurements of my house then we went inside for a review of product and installation. They start off very nice. I told them that I was pressed for time. That meant nothing to them. Several times I them to wrap it up and give me an idea of cost.

Over and over again I told them to wrap it up to the point I thought I was going to have call the Police to have them removed from my home. After they realized I was not committing to their proposal, they stated to leave but not before one of them made a condescending remake after I tried to give him a compliment. In closing the pricing was 50% higher than local roofers. Don't waste your time with these guys.

TOLEDO, OHIO -- We were thinking about a new roof. When the sales representative came to our home and showed us roof samples and what they use under the shingles, not the tar paper that others use. I like that! We had a date set, but it was bad weather (November). The workday was changed, the crew came and finished the roof in 2 days. They came to start the job when they were scheduled and told me what they were going to do.

The crew was very polite and each man knew what to do. The roof looks great and there is no leaks. They clean up around the yard when they were all done. The crew leader walk me around the house to see if I had any questions and check the work. I will definitely call Erie Construction for other jobs and tell my friends about their good work!

TOLEDO, OHIO -- The windows that we ordered look so beautiful in my home. It made a great overall look to my home. The installers came a little early and worked consistently until they finished the project. They answered all of the questions that we had and told us how to take care of the windows. The installers even did a great job cleaning up and asked us to walk through the cleanup inspection, so that I was satisfied with them.

They did a great job on the installation and the windows were especially great. In my words, "The windows really made my house really pop!!! You can even shut the windows with one hand and lock them as they close. I really liked that feature. I hated to have to open and close my old windows because they were so hard to open and close. The windows are a lot more efficient and help with the heating and cooling bills. I am very happy with my new windows and the job that they performed."

COMMERCE TWP, MICHIGAN -- I was very impressed by the entire sales process from the original sales call (door knock) to receiving the first bill. The salesperson arrived on time and didn't try to over sell me. They gave me what I wanted plus some value adds. There were several paperwork checks and balances. In addition, there was immediate follow up after the job was completed which made me feel very comfortable regarding the company's accountability.

As for the installers, they were friendly and overcame a couple of obstacles (weather, customizing, etc.) to get the job done. They offered an explanation to any questions I had and cleaned up before they left. I just received my first bill which isn't due for 90 days. I would absolutely do business with Erie again.

AKRON, OHIO -- We were looking for a new roof. Really needed one bad. Contacted a few people and decided we wanted a metal roof. Erie Construction came out and showed us the products that they sell and the difference between the metal roof that they sell, and what others in our area sell. We were sold, and when we found out that as long as we don't change the integrity of the roof that there was a lifetime guarantee.

That right there was worth the extra money. Very prompt, nice guys came out and did what they are taught to do. You can tell that a job Well Done is what they strive for, and you can tell that they have the training that is needed to do just that.

I would recommend them to anyone that needed a roof. The great thing is about Erie Constructions metal roof is that you can't even tell, because it looks just like shingles. They also have a great customer service representatives that call and check on things time from time. If you are looking for a company to do a job right the first time, I would definitely call Erie Construction.

VANDALIA (DAYTON) OHIO -- We decided to have our roof replaced as it was more than 20 years old and had developed a number of small leaks over the past year. With that said, we contacted many different contractors for an estimate for the job. Of the three contractors we contacted, Erie Construction was prompt to return our initial call and scheduled an appointment when both my wife and I were available.

The salesman showed up promptly at the scheduled time and presented a number of options for our particular home. Having a general working knowledge of home repair I liked the idea of being presented options. He then proceeded to climb to the roof and physically inspect it. After all was said and done and the style and color chosen, we agreed to a proposed schedule for installation. When the items were delivered they were placed out of the way and neatly stacked.

When the contracted roofers arrived, they explained the process and the projected time frame to complete the job. This was a complete tear off and I expected it to take a few days, to our surprise, they began immediately and methodically removed and disposed of the old roofing materials and repaired what was required and then began the roofing. Though it took a complete day, they finished in that single day including cleaning all traces materials/trash.

Of the other contractors we contacted, one didn't show up and the other actually contacted me 2 months after our first meeting to see if we were still interested! Obviously they were not interested in our business. I highly recommend Erie Construction, yes they're expensive, but in home improvement, you get what you pay for!
