ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS -- I had a phone, and I lost it, so it was time to get a new one. I'm not acquainted with smartphones. I'm 87 years old and I thought a Jitterbug would be a whole lot better. I thought I would get the Jitterbug 5Star because my son is worried about me living alone, and taking a fall. However, since that time that I got it, I've been very unhappy. If I wanted to do anything quick, it's such a slow response. Several times I've had to call. They gave me directions to take out the battery, and put it back in, or hold down the on button for 20 seconds.

When I open up the phone, it takes five seconds before anything happens even though it's fully charged. I don't understand why. Sometimes it takes forever for me to scroll through my phonebook. Then, all of a sudden, it will go four names and then, it stop again. I'm unhappy with that. On the other hand, when I call, they are very helpful. I have no complaints about that. I'm just concerned about the phone's reliability. I'm happy having the flip phone. When it works, it works! But right now, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- My mother lives on the far west side of town and there is zero reception. So during the recent hurricane, we just had to wait until the water went down to get to her. We tried MetroPCS, but it has to be where she can pick it up and call and she's just very not tech savvy. She struggles with any telephone including the Jitterbug, but after a long time, I got her to where she can dial me with it.

Since she had never used the telephone, I thought we'd disconnect it for a while, but we could never find anything else. So I just bit the bullet and said to hell with it because there was no other choice. Overall, I've been through the Jitterbug phone countless times and I would say that for someone on her age group it's probably the best out there because I've looked.

CHARLEVOIX, MICHIGAN -- I now have a Verizon smartphone, but I had Jitterbug for a while and then before that, I had one of the TracFones and among the three, I prefer my Verizon phone. The Jitterbug was so much easier to use than the Tracfone because it had the larger numbers. For my husband, it's essential for him to have a Jitterbug. He is in a nursing home and has several disabilities. I just put my number under number two and I put his folks' number under number three and all he has to do is press those numbers and he can call them. That's all he needs to do and it's just fantastic.

Their service people have been very helpful and knowledgeable. We had something we had to sort out at one point and we got it all sorted out. I'm grateful that somebody got the idea for Jitterbug and that they exist. Life without them would be pretty hard. I recommended them several times.

OWASSO, OKLAHOMA -- I had a disagreement with AT&T because they tripled my bill overnight and I didn't know why. My services hadn't changed and I just can't afford it because my only salary is Social Security. I was reading about Jitterbug in the little magazines I get and I just called them up and got it and had my AT&T cut off and I've never been happier.

It took me a little bit to get used to it. I got it right after Christmas and I would walk in the house and look at my answering machine on my house phone which wasn't there anymore and it took me a while to break that habit. But I'm happy to have my phone with me when I leave the house. And when I get back home, I put it by the bed. I called Jitterbug and ordered 200 minutes and it took me a month to realize I needed more. So, I called them back on that and had it increased. I would recommend them, just don't increase my bill.

HAWTHORNE, CALIFORNIA -- My friend said that Jitterbug was a nice and simple phone to use. He basically said all you need to know is yes or no and up and down. Compared to the prepaid flip phone I had before Jitterbug, this is easy to read and has larger buttons, so it is easier to use. On the original setup, talking to the Jitterbug people was a pleasant, easy experience. They said it might take a couple of days to get my number transferred over and it was transferred the same day. It was a very good experience. I get a $25 rebate for referring a friend and I have recommended Jitterbug to a couple of other friends.

ASHLAND, OHIO -- Jitterbug was in Legion Magazine and they claimed that it was a good one. I called a fellow that works for me and he set it up for me. I've had it for the last two months and it takes a lot of time getting ready to turn on sometimes. Also, I can hardly hear on it. I just keep it in the car so that in case I get a breakdown or run into trouble, I'd always have a way to get hold of somebody. I would recommend it because it's got a thing on the bottom where they'll come and get you if you push it. I feel good about it.

HUNTINGTON, OREGON -- I fell down and broke my previous phone, so I bought a new one but it never worked. I spent 2 years calling but I never talked to a person because there's a two-hour waiting list. So I went shopping and I found Jitterbug to be cheaper and it works better because it uses Verizon. I live way out in Eastern Oregon, next to Idaho border in the Canyons over here and it's very rural.

Jitterbug is simple and it doesn't work in every place, but it works in places that my previous one didn't. I'm retired and I do a lot of hunting and I'd turn the phone on. I almost never turn the Jitterbug on at home, unless there's somebody's number on there that I want to call and if I need to use a few minutes. They also got the best minutes but it could be better to have rollover all the time, although one month's rollover is not bad.

Right after I got my phone, I got in on a texting between a mother and a daughter who I never heard of. But they took that off my bill because I didn't even set up a text. They fixed it instantly and asked me to let them know if I have any more problems. They were very professional and courteous. I recommend them.

WINTER HAVEN, FLORIDA -- My wife bought a Jitterbug for me and somebody else set it up so when I got it, it was ready to go. This puts all my telephone numbers in there. The sound on this phone is fantastic. It's good that I hear people talking to me and they hear me talking to them, unlike the other cellphones where you get static in that it stops working if you get too close to something. My house has a dead spot for my wife's phone but I do not have a dead spot on my Jitterbug so it's a better phone all around. Jitterbug is easier for me to use than the old cellphone I had.

HOMER, LOUISIANA -- I used to have one of those buttons worn around the arm but it was only good for maybe 100 yards from the house. And, I had a different cellphone. Some friends told me about Jitterbug so I thought I'd get it and try it. My wife got it for me. When I first got Jitterbug, I punched the button at the bottom and they said it's alright to call them anytime as long as we asked.

I feel better about getting out. I'm doing better now with walking around the yard with my dog so I know if I ever fall down, I could just punch it. Also, I've looked in and it's got a camera with all kinds of pictures and stuff on it so I'm really pleased with it and I really enjoy it. I've been trying to get my wife to get one but she hadn't gotten around to it yet. Jitterbug is really good and outstanding

BROOKLYN, MARYLAND -- My husband has a policy with Jitterbug that he pays $4 a month for and it hasn't been great. The phone is inadequate and half of the time, it doesn't ring and sometimes they can't hear it. He called Jitterbug several times but they tried to persuade him to just keep it without sending him another phone. They didn't need to do that. Their attitude was fine but they need to improve their customer service. When a customer is paying for a service, they expect to have it.

Also, my husband is in a long-term care and doesn't have patience. With Jitterbug, you have to wait forever to get a person and I experienced it myself. In fact, I'm going to call them when I visit my husband tomorrow. It's an ongoing issue and I hope they improve it. I have a phone too and if Jitterbug doesn't change, we don't have to take it. I also left another company to come over to them but we have been discussing about changing.
