Pro Results Personal Training Scam
By -

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I have trained for many years. I just recently moved outside of the Houston, TX area and have worked at LA Fitness. I am a true believer in health and fitness but have never seen anything like this in any gym. I was in the personal training sales department at Pro Results and their system is A HUGE SCAM. They charge way too much for personal training and the member gets no benefit from buying it from them.

It's hard to sell something you don't believe in and I am being honest to the consumer 'cause I truly care about being healthy. Personally IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY and NUMBERS to them. They can care less about you and the results you get. The system is a fraud and they will try to sell you anything so I would not recommend buying anything from them.

I hope you take your health and fitness seriously and if you do, stay away from LA Fitness 'cause it's not worth your time, money, and agony. You will become very frustrated and then it's a hassle to get out of the agreements you sign or didn't sign. I've even talked to a number of members and a lot of them are unhappy with the Pro Results Training Program and LA Fitness because THEY DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY and COULDN'T CARE LESS...

Absolutely No Concept of Customer Service
By -

IRVING, TEXAS -- The trainers are wonderful. The sales staff is condescending, rude and manipulative. They have an entire cluster of Bernie Madoff's in training here!! They do not care about the customer - it's about the money and they will say ANYTHING to get you to sign up even bad mouth each other behind their back. Their contracts very conveniently do not mention relocation clauses--does someone seriously plan on relocating for their job in the middle of the year.

I have been a member for over 3 years. The sales manager said that being a member for 3 years means nothing to them - I QUOTE!!! WOW - I already asked my apartment complex to not recommend the gym to anyone and I will make sure my company HR department knows too. We have 8,000 employees in the area and we partner with local business so that employees receive benefits - LA Fitness will definitely NOT get our multi million dollar business.

Duped into a personal training contract
By -

SAN MARCOS, CALIFORNIA -- If it sounds too good to be true... and I fell for it anyway. I was offered "free" sessions if I entered into this contract and was ASSURED that I could get out of it at anytime. I was near broke with no income expected for several months so why would I even get into something that I could not get out of when necessary? I questioned the terms of the contract but was instructed to "just come see me and I'll take care of it" when/if the time came to cancel and STOP the automatic payments. That is what I did but was again given incorrect and misleading information. Another payment was debited from my account.

$39.00 may not seem like a lot but it is when you need it to put gas in your car! I have been getting the runaround from the corporate office and the club where I joined. I canceled my club membership by the way and that went through without any trouble. I thought about freezing membership but saw that my schedule and lifestyle just did not have room for it to be of any real advantage. All I want is the ABSOLUTE cancellation of the contract that I and my attorney friends believe was entered into under questionable and possible illegal terms, and a refund of the last payment of $39.00. That's all. Nothing more.

Make Sure You Know What You Are Signing Up For!
By -

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA -- I signed up for a personal trainer at the LA Fitness Club on Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, AZ. I told the young man who wrote the contract that I wanted just a few sessions so that I could get an idea of what I needed to do for the results I needed. I was told that I could get 12 sessions for $309.00. Nothing was ever mentioned about a monthly fee and I would never have agreed to do that. I told this person that I am retired and could not afford to do anything monthly. I gave him the $309.00 that day.

Since that day in March LA Fitness has been charging my card $160.00 per month! They say that the contract that I signed stated that. This is not what I was told and when I called they refused to do anything about it. Beware of this company! They lie and cheat people.

Fraudulent Charges For Personal Training Services
By -

LA VERNE, CALIFORNIA -- When I joined LA Fitness, I signed up for personal training sessions with a rolling contract that after every 12 sessions, it would automatically renew for another 12 unless I told them to stop them. After a few months, I had an accident and was in a wheelchair for several months. They continued to charge me for training sessions although I could not even go to the gym and had notified them as such. And - Duh! Clearly I was not meeting with the trainer.

Long story short, they told me that they would not refund the money but that I could use the sessions up. I needed to work out once I was back on my feet and said okay. I went for a few weeks and then they cancelled my membership and refused me access to the gym, stating that I had to use all the sessions in those few weeks (which they had never stated). I am still fighting them for my money. These people are thieves.

LA Fitness dba Pro Results - Scammers

FT. LAUDERDALE, GEORGIA -- So I sat down with this sales guy and so-called personal trainer at L.A. Fitness. What a nice, cool guy. He was going to be my new buddy and moral supporter when it came to fitness for the next several months. He seemed so knowledgeable and he couldn't wait for the challenge of helping me lose a couple inches. Little did he know that I had the ability to check up on him. He's searching for an apartment in Canada. Was he planning on flying down here to Florida to train me twice a week?

Just a little research reveals that none of the trainers work there long enough to build something that even resembles a personal training relationship. Why should they? They get paid 6 dollars for every session that you dropped 40 or more for. So here you are bound by a contract and you get whatever non-caring scrub they decide to stick you with when you show up for your 30 minutes. You think that person(s) really cares about helping you reach your goals?

I cancelled that contract and got my money back before the ink was dry on it. LA Fitness is a decent gym to use for a good price but don't sign up for personal training. They don't give a damn about you or your fitness goals. I promise you.

Bait and Switch From LA Fitness Scum
By -

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA -- I went to get personal training after my shoulder injury. This was in October 2008. I specifically asked for 6 months, as it wouldn't matter if I reinjured my shoulder. In no way would I agree to 12 months. Once the 'manager' came by and agreed to 6 months, I signed the little box. Little did I know they had changed the terms before I signed. Tried to get a copy and the printer was broken. Complained to VP with no help. Going to corporate now. These gym rats are lower than used car salesmen by 100. I deleted all my info online, cancelled my credit card so they can't bill, and will go to court if so be it. They are total scum!

Personal Trainer Contract Cancellation
By -

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- When I joined LA Fitness I was told numerous lies. They said the pool would be open the same time as the facility. Not! It is closed from 2 to 4PM and after 9PM daily. Add to that the fact that the Whirlpool is closed Fridays all morning until 2PM. I signed up for a personal trainer and got a good trainer but at the time I signed up I was told that if I decided to cancel there would be a small fee. I was out of work for a few months so can't afford to continue with the personal trainer. When I tried to cancel they said they will bill me $846 for canceling. Small fee? I don't think so. That is a lot of money to me.

They say I should not have believed what I was told by their salesperson but should have read the fine print. Where I grew up a person's word meant something but apparently not their word. The next insult was that they hired a man to clean the ladies locker room in the evening so we were told he would be in there from 8:30 to 9PM each night. How about we get a woman to clean the men's locker room? I expected my membership to include everything they said it would be and I have been greatly disappointed along with the fact that I am out a lot of money when I am trying to make ends meet.

They are being paid $846 for offering absolutely nothing and the monthly membership promises aren't even being met. I can put up with a few inconveniences but come on. This is a bit much. They're getting rich by lying to people and ripping them off. It's not right.

Beware of LA Fitness personal training scams
By -

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- Beware of LA Fitness personal training scams. The sales people do NOT know the details of the contracts and will lie about recurring billing, cancellation and prepayment to get the sale. We were informed our personal training was for 12 months and would NOT be billed beyond that. We were also informed that we could pre-pay our monthly allotment of sessions, and the time we prepaid would reduce the number of months. Guess what? They kept right on billing us.

So we ended up paying for 13 months for (1) no-show trainers, (2) a revolving door of trainers that join and leave the company, (3) countless hours of scheduling/rescheduling and (4) a corporate office that has NO interest in customer service, ethics or integrity. When you call their quality assurance line to complain, their quality assurance telephone rep just hangs up on you.

La Fitness Ripping Off Customers With Forged Contracts
By -

MILL CREEK, WASHINGTON -- Potential customers need to be aware of LA Fitness when given a tour of their facilities for membership. They try and sell you personal training and forge your name to the documents after you leave. Then you are charged for this on your credit card or debit card. If you try and dispute it, they do not return phone calls. When you do get an employee, they are rude and do not care. It is a nightmare trying to deal with this company. It takes months to deal with it.
