Front Loading Washing Machine Problem
By -

HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA -- I purchased a very expensive LG front loading washer/dryer pair with pedestals from Home Depot. First, the washer door swings open to the left. I needed one that swings open to the right. I was not given an option at the time of purchase and I have had nothing but trouble with the washer since it was delivered.

It needs to have the leveling feet adjusted after every second or third load. I had it serviced frequently for the imbalance problem while it was under warranty. All that was done was an adjustment to the feet. Now I have to adjust it on a regular basis. That is not the only negative. The gasket around the door gets mildewed and smells. I would not recommend this front loader to anyone. The sensor in the dryer is also useless. I am very displeased with these appliances.

LG - Don't Lose the Receipt
By -

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NEW JERSEY -- I recently purchased an LG window A/C unit, model LW1210ER, 12K BTU. It worked very well for about two months, then something snapped inside so that it vibrates violently, so much that it could shatter the window if left running. Therefore I recommend that you avoid this unit due to mechanical instability and poor reliability. To make matters worse, I called the LG service department for a repair. They assured me the service technician would be there four days hence to correct the problem. The service tech arrived and promptly told me that no repairs could be made without the original receipt. Huh?

First, why is that the case? Are they concerned that I purchased a stolen air conditioner? Am I guilty until proven innocent? I will admit that I don't understand this policy. And why didn't the telephone service representative inform me of this fact when I called? I could have at least attempted to locate the receipt and, failing that, saved myself some time by returning the unit to Home Depot for an exchange. So, to summarize: Unit has poor reliability; LG's service policy is unsatisfactory, using lame rules in order to not stand by their equipment. So, don't just avoid this unit, avoid LG in general. Poor customer service.

LG Range

We have owned this stove for 2 years, have only had to use the self-clean feature three times, two of the three times, the oven got so hot we smelled wires and plastic burning. Sure enough, when the cycle would finish we would get F code errors, and our stove would not work! Eating out with four kiddos for over a week is not cheap! I purchased this range because I love to cook and eat healthy meals! I'm furious that LG and Home Depot will not even admit there is a problem with this, I google the internet and find it EVERYWHERE!

In Feb our extended warranty (Thank God we bought that!) will run out. Guess I am stuck with a range with a self-cleaning option that I will never be able to use! Do NOT buy LG, it may be a prettier, or a little cheaper, but stick to the people who dedicate themselves to appliances only and are not dabbling in every other electronic out there just to make a buck! LG has a Customer Service Dept that are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. I've never heard such rude people!!!

7 Days Out of Warranty
By -

I loved my LG Wine cell phone, it has big #'s and a real touch feel, two things I wanted in a cell. Problem was the part of the phone you plug into recharge. The phone fell apart after 1 year and 7 days. It never was a very good fit but I thought that was the way it was supposed to be.

Bell wouldn't do a thing about it and I had them restart my old Motorola (now over 6 years old) cell. By chance at a computer store, that also sells and services cell phones, I had them take a look at it and they advised me that the problem with the plug in for recharge was an ongoing problem. They tried to fix it and said it was beyond repair because the inside design was bad and had come apart. Neither Bell or LG gave a damn. When my contract is up with Bell I will go elsewhere and take my 6 office cells with me.

The kicker is I subsidize the bill for 78 cells phones of my associates and 43 of them were with Bell. 14 of them have signed with other providers as their terms expire, the others will follow. One would think that good corporate citizens would not be hiding design flaws and would be happy to provide a phone to an ongoing customer of over 12 years.

Don't choose because of the pretty colors

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Bought the washer and dryer as most of us for the looks. Bad mistake. It will cost you money down the road. I am sitting here in the middle of week two without a washer. After paying a $170.00 service call to Sears and having to pay this money up front, I am frustrated. Pretty red and other colors, good appearance though. Don't keep up with the "Joneses" on this one. Most of us have heard of the mold problem and breakdowns. Oh and here's my favorite... The technician states (this is Sears mind you). "We don't stock parts for LG washers because they are so new". It takes 2 weeks.

My washer is 2.5 years old and it was some type of sensor. It wouldn't drain or spin the clothes. Unless you like laundromats, then think again or get the extended warranty, which is a small fortune. Don't ask on the internet about how to fix either. You're wasting your time and some want money for this. I was a sucker, I know. (Ended up getting my money back because he took a long time to answer and didn't get an answer.) Stick to the top loading washers and avoid the enticing front loaders. Good luck in Texas.

LG ice make issues
By -

Refrigerator is about 2.5 years old. Ice maker worked correctly for the 1st year of ownership. Then ice bin began to overfill with ice and excess water (which froze in to blocks of ice). Unfortunately the auger assembly broke away from the storage bin. I owned a commercial ice maker repair company for 20 years so I took a look at the ice maker. The spring which is supposed to be attached to the ice sensor arm had come off so I reinstalled it and returned the unit to service (along with a new ice storage bin). It functioned for several months.

Now the storage bin in again filling with water. I finally ascertained the reason behind the latest issue. The twist release ice cube tray is now occasionally hanging up half way through its cycle. Evidently an ice cube will occasionally block the cube tray from returning to its normal resting horizontal position and the water will overflow the lower side of the tray and freeze on the bottom.

How may others have had this issue? Considering the problems I've had with this refrigerator which now requires an ice maker and ice bin and the uncertainty of the reliability of the system I will probably buy another brand for the replacement refrigerator.

Life Is Not Good With LG Defective Products
By -

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NEW JERSEY -- After 2 years without the use of an LG electric range I find that they build defective products which cannot be fixed, hide defects, provide no service, and represent and symbolize all that is wrong with business in America. This range presents an endless list of manufacturing defects including but not limited to: Control panel that does not function to turn on burners, oven functions that do nothing, codes that give false readings. In short, this is a frightening device that should be labeled "DANGER: Use of this appliance has been shown to result in imminent harm to the user. DO NOT USE IT TO COOK without cutting the power source and using charcoal with the oven door open."

LG Stove Model # LRG30357ST
By -

I purchased a LG stove 5 months ago and I'm very upset that the silver wrapping on the knobs is peeling off. I contacted the customer service department and spoke with a representative who told me it was my fault the knobs were peeling because I shouldn't open the door while the oven is on. Instead, I should use the oven light and refer to the cooking manual that came with the stove in order to accurately time when my food would be ready.

I tried to explain to her that if you cook in a roasting pan or any other pan with a lid, you would need to open the oven door to check on your food. She really did not care about what I had to say. She said she would do me a "one time courtesy" and send me new knobs, as if LG's doing me a favor when I spent my money.

Beware of LG's Washers
By -

10101 OLD GROVE ROAD, MICHIGAN -- I bought a LG washer and dryer in 08. When I bought the dryer and washer I specifically ask if the parts were made in USA. He told me they were. I have 7 people in my family so you can imagine how much washing I do. I am unhappy with LG. The dryer doesn't seem to dry the clothes very good. I have to put the cycle twice sometimes for it to dry so what's the purpose of having a dryer which holds a lot of clothes and not drying. The second problem I have is my pump broke. I found out that it broke because of a coin that got through the trap. How could a coin get through the trap.

What kind of washer did they design for a large coin or any other object to get through. This is outrageous and crazy. And to top it all I need a new pump. I glad I bought insurance but they said the part will take 7 days to come in right. Guess again 3 weeks. Why!!! I called LG and what did they do. Nothing. The parts are coming from California and if they do not have the part. Guess again from China. You've got it that's why we don't have any jobs in USA. So 3 weeks without a washer, clothes, piling up, can't afford to go to the laundry mat. This is ridiculous and I am so mad!!!!

I will try to sell these made in China or whatever and buy something in United States even if it cost more. I would have never bought them if I knew this. So bottom line don't buy products made overseas. Keep our jobs here. And the product will be better.

Defective Product
By -

We bought all LG Appliances for our new home. Within the first month we have had 3 microwaves, 2 dishwashers and 2 refrigerators. All with manufacturing defects. After using my LG Range for one year, I noticed (when cooking a big dinner for company) that the oven floor was cracking and chipping. To protect myself and my food from a disaster, I put foil on the bottom. It was a spontaneous move and automatic on my part. However a serviceman (at LG's request) came to see the oven and said it's defected because of the cracking and chipping. When I called LG they told me the Range is defective, unrepairable and it would be replaced.

Now they have changed their mind because foil should not be put in the oven. I am 63 yrs of age and cooking for 43 years. Never in my life did I hear that foil cannot be used in a conventional oven. However that is not the initial issue. The initial issue is the cracking and chipping. Had I not been honest with them, the oven would have been replaced. DO NOT BUY LG. Life will not be good for you if you do. I will go through every necessary legal channel to rectify this problem.
