Return Policy Is Ridiculous
By -

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- My sons are offensive line college football players - big & tall. I must order their jeans online. I order them prior to Christmas so that they'll be able to open a gift. They didn't immediately needed them. One lost weight and the jeans I purchased online were too large. I returned the jeans for a smaller size. Jeans were never worn. Old navy stuck to their return policy saying they will accept nothing after 90 days.

I wasn't asking for refund, but an exchange of unworn jeans in an unopened package. They refused. I'm stuck with SEVEN pair of unworn jeans that fit nobody. When speaking with three Old Navy/Gap representatives... one said, "Give them to Good Will!". The nerve! Then I was told by another to drive to an Old Navy store in my area, and they would exchange the jeans. Duh... I can't get them exchanged there because I can only get the jeans online in the size required. Stupid policy, ignorant staff, ridiculous way to handle a customer. I'm still stuck with 7 pairs of unworn blue jeans.

Exchange Policy & Customer Service - Horrible!!!
By -

My husband received a shirt for Christmas from Old Navy that didn't fit properly. He received it without a gift receipt and when I went in to get a larger size of the same shirt they did not have the size in stock. I wanted to exchange the shirt for one that was very similar and the exact same price. And they refused to let me exchange it. That is ridiculous. It's an Old Navy shirt. Not like it could have been purchased in another store. I worked for The Gap for 5 years (which is the same company) and at that time they would never have let the customer leave upset.

To top it all off when I called the customer service 1-800 # they did nothing to rectify the situation. Only get me more upset by saying "sorry, but that is our policy" and proceeded to hang up on me. It's a bad policy! They are not losing money with an exchange only making a customer happy. They have not just lost a customer because of this experience they have lost many - I will make sure of it!

If this was an unbranded item I could see why a store wouldn't take it back but with Old Navy on the tag... What is the problem here!!! Horrible customer service! Horrible store! Don't bother with them. There are so many other stores with customer friendly return policies - stores that want business. Not go out of business! X-Old Navy (Gap & Banana Republic) customer!

Poor Online Service
By -

MASSACHUSETTS -- I have read the reviews on this site for Old Navy, and I see that several other people have felt my pain with online shopping at Old Navy. I ordered $50.00's worth of merchandise. Three days later I received an email stating everything except a four dollar skirt was sold out. They never gave me the chance to cancel the order, (I emailed back ASAP to cancel, they already shipped). So I did have to drive all the way to the store to return this skirt, (the shirt and shoes were s/o so I had nothing to now wear with said skirt).

I sent another email complaining about the fact that they don't give you a chance to re-shop, coupons, or a cancellation option. All they said was that merchandise is limited, even if it says they have it in your size. They then offered me 10% off my next online order. Thanks guys, but you lost my service.

Poor Customer Service

I purchased 2 water bottles made of some kind of metal at Old Navy in Burlington VT. After purchasing I noticed they came with no directions for washing, no indication of material made... only the words "made in China". One of the bottles had a dark lead-like dust lining the inside.

I called the Burlington store AND Old Navy Headquarters and neither had any idea the material or washing directions. Both took my number and promised to get back to me... of course no one did. How can you sell an item made in China you know nothing about? The item number is 620545-02-1. Old Navy clearly does not care about product quality or customer safety.

Very Impressed! They Paid To Resend Our Order After Our Mistake
By -

My wife recently ordered 2 items from Old Navy's website. They never arrived even though the confirmation from Old Navy said it had been shipped and delivered. My wife checked the tracking number and found out her package had been delivered to our old address (we recently moved). It was my wife's mistake, she forgot to update our new address in her profile and did not double check it before confirming the order.

She e-mailed their customer service at 9pm on Labor Day, not expecting a reply until maybe the next day. Within an hour Old Navy had replied that they were re-sending the order at no cost to my wife, and they said don't worry about trying to have the first package sent back! My wife has been a very loyal customer and an Old Navy credit card account holder for years. She is now a VERY HAPPY loyal customer.

Old Navy Doesn't Reuse/Recycle Their Hangers.
By -

I was at their register getting checked out at Old Navy and was helping the cashier de-hanger the clothes I purchased. The cashier asked if I wanted the hangers and I said no. She replied, "We'll just throw them in the trash if you don't take them." Can you imagine! I had 15 hangers, the person in front of me had bought 3 times as much stuff as I did! I checked around online and apparently Gap Inc (which also owns Banana Republic) finds it cheaper to buy new hangers than to reuse the old ones!

So not just Old Navy, but The Gap and Banana Republic fill our landfills with all those hangers from the clothes they sell! They have the nerve to preach about 'social responsibility', 'donating' and 'reducing waste' on their website but they don't even bother to find any local secondhand stores that could use their hangers or locate recycling centers that can recycle their hangers. They should take a lesson from Target who reuses their hangers.

Great Experience
By -

I am sorry that some of you had bad experiences with Old Navy. In my line of work, I hear a lot of negatives but rarely positives; I think people are more likely to complaint than to praise. Anyhow, I ordered four items from their website. The order was processed quickly, I received my shipment without any problem. Every item was accurately sized and colored. I like that their site shows available sizes and colors as you view the items. I've also shopped several of their stores and have been impressed with the staff's cheer - even on "Black Friday" when it's nuts in there! I hope you guys have better luck next time.

Shipping Rip Off
By -

FISHERS, INDIANA -- I placed an online order in February 2008 and received confirmation that the order was fulfilled and that all items were in stock. Then, a few days later I got an e-mail that they were only able to ship the socks from the order since they had overestimated their supply on the rest of my order. They did not give me the option to cancel my order or to substitute another item. They told me all this after the fact. So, I ended up paying full shipping charges just for socks. I called and e-mailed them, but they said that their policy does not allow them to refund any shipping, even though they failed to complete the order. I got ripped off.

Sales Ads Are Misleading
By -

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA -- I recently went shopping for my twin niece and nephew. I found them each an outfit which is very cute and thought it was great that the jeans are 2 for $22 instead of $16.50 each. Both the girl and boys jeans were marked on sale at 2 @ $22. I checked out and did not even get out the door and checked the receipt. They charged me $16.50 each.

I went back in and asked them and they said they had to be the same style and which they were. They then told me I had to buy two boy jeans or two girl jeans to get this sale. I spent $33 instead of $22 for two pairs of pants. I just don't get why they can't honor this price on mix match on items. They have the same price on and same sale. It would be different if they were different prices. I have done a good share of business with Old Navy and will be shopping at another franchise. Thanks for your time.
