CLEARWATER, FLORIDA -- The representative I dealt with, Phil, appears to have done his apprenticeship with the mafia. A simple application to borrow $7000 to buy $9000 car from a different dealer, with me putting down $2000 deposit and paying all other costs in cash turned into a loan that would have cost $18000+ over 4 years. Warning Platinum Finance are only interested in selling cars from Thrifty Car Sales. They have no interest in financing a car purchase from a different dealer. Avoid

If the finance company is inclined to give financing with only one dealer I wouldn't look to them to provide good rates.

Horrible Service Hate That I Have to Deal With Them
Posted by Lenora0530 on 05/31/2013
I am having nothing but problems with the vehicle I got from Tampa Bay Auto Finance. I was financed through Platinum Auto Finance and neither of them care about you or the car once the deal is finished. The vehicle has had to be repaired twice since February of this year that is only 3 months ago. They want their payments and that's it. Horrible place and won 't do it again.

If you bought the car "as is" and have no warranty, then thier obligation to you ends as soon as you sign the contract. Not doing something that you aren't obligated to do in the first place doesn't constitute horrible customer service. However, if you have a warranty with the car and they are supposed to fix the car (and covered repairs tend to be specific) then yes, they do owe you something.

If you were finaced through a different company than you bought the car from (hard to tell from your review) then how satisfied you are with the car has nothing to do with the finance company. It also appears as if you bought a car that is at or near its usable worth. (13 years old)

They deal with more then Thrifty Auto Sales

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA -- I disagree with the other review. I applied for financing at a dealership, that turns out the vehicle had lot of issues not worth the price they were asking, called another dealer that I deal with, they also worked with Platinum, and was able to get my deal! They work with more than one dealer, as this originally started in Pasco County, and ended up with another dealer in Seffner! I strongly recommend you check into them if you're in need of credit with a poor score.

Do Not Purchase Vehicles from Thrifty
Posted by NeverBuyThrifty on 04/22/2010
TAMPA, FLORIDA -- I just received a letter in the mail today from Platinum Auto Finance AKA Thrifty Car Sales that they would pay me $10 per positive review and even provided me the websites where I should write these reviews at. I believe that in its own has a lot to say for a company when they have to pay you to write positive things about them. I recently purchased a vehicle from them and have had nothing but issues since I bought the car. Needless to say they have had my car in their shop for repairs longer than I have had my own vehicle since the purchase date. The salesman/ manager has no customer skills whatsoever and Thrifty's only concern is to sell cars at whatever cost. Once the car is out the door they could care less what happens to it or the customer. They refuse to help or make any situation better and even have caller id so they only answer calls to whom they choose to. If I had the chance to do it all over again I would have saved my down payment and used it on bus fair before buying a car at thrifty. Please people be aware and do not buy from these people. They do their own financing and will finance to anyone no matter how bad their credit is which may seem like a relief to people like my self who are in financial distress but believe me it is more of a hassle and there are options out there better than this company who does not value nor appreciate their customers. BE INFORMED PEOPLE!!!!!

You're making a lot of assumptions in your complaint.

It was so easy!

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA -- Buying our truck through Platinum Auto Finance (Thrifty) was so much easier than I would have ever imagined! We have less than perfect credit, to say the least, and I was actually expecting them to turn us down, or offer us a really old car.  Neither! We found a truck that we wanted, took it for a test drive, and loved it!  They really worked with us and our bad credit.  It has been a year now since we bought the truck and we have made all of our payments on time.  Soon, I will go in to see if they will refinance...hopefully they will be able to fulfill that promise also.  Overall, we are extremely satisfied with our truck and our experience with Thrifty/Platinum!

Great Customer Service
Posted by Ferrol19 on 04/23/2010
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA -- A little over a year ago I was looked to buy a used car. I searched the web and found Platinum Auto, also known as Thrifty Car Sales. I knew what range I wanted the payments to be between and they made the payments even less for me. They call every few months to make sure everything is going okay. The icing on the cake was when I saw scratches on the car they repainted it for me. They have great customer service!
