32 Inch Polaroid Television - Bad News!
By -

CHICO, CALIFORNIA -- I bought this TV new. It will not turn on and off properly, often you have to unplug it to turn it off. I phoned Polaroid, no help. Finally I had TV repair out since it would not turn on. Many report this same problem; I see a class action suit in Polaroid's future! $219.00 to fix it. Now I get a blank screen, no picture. This TV is not made well, do not buy a Polaroid model FLM3232. I am getting a new TV, this one cost $900 and its over $200 to fix it so it's not worth the hassle waiting for repair and paying the high bills for same. I'll never by Polaroid again!

High Def TV

NEW PORT RICHEY, FLORIDA -- Purchased this 37" HDTV in December 2006. It's connected to DirecTV satellite with a HDTV box. About 3 months ago started having problems with it screeching when it was turned on. When I called Polaroid, I was told I could get a replacement for $300 since the TV was out of warranty, but I would have to send my TV to California (paying shipping, of course).

Well, this TV is only 18 months old. Since then, when the set is set for high def reception on the satellite box, the set goes haywire, (the picture goes out and all you get is vertical lines and loud noises). I had DirecTV out on July 26th to check the satellite box, it's okay, the problem is in the set.

I called Polaroid again, now they want $350 for a replacement and still have to send the set to California at my expense, or I can order the part (they know what it needs, they gave me the part number). The part cost $478 plus $65 deposit. Then I have to get someone to install the part (more money). I would get the $65 back when I returned the defective part. And they couldn't/wouldn't give me the name of anyone in this area that works on their TV's.

So now I'm watching this TV without the high def that I bought the set for and still have problems with the screeching! It sounds to me like they must have had this problem come up before. Anybody out there having this problem? Is there any help? Am I destined to resorting to buying a DIFFERENT BRAND to enjoy TV again?

Terrible Polaroid HDTV, Terrible Polaroid Service
By -

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE -- I was given $1000 by my parents to buy a new TV for Christmas in 2006. We added a little to it and bought a 37" Polaroid HDTV. Exactly 14 months later it was no longer working. Yes, the same story - a bad control box. Polaroid sent me another one (it was used - I assume re-built), had it installed and it still didn't work. Polaroid kept saying this was an isolated problem considering how many TV's Polaroid sold.

According to ALL the websites, I think that's simply untrue. They clearly have an issue with the control box on their TV's and particularly this model. Why don't they do the right thing and correct THEIR problem at THEIR expense. Bad company, bad business, and they deserve bad things to happen.

Bad Polaroid

ILLINOIS -- I bought a 24 inch Polaroid in October of 2005 and after 2 years it went out totally! No sound, no picture, no controls work at all. I was told by a TV repair service that it is a piece of junk, made in China. It costs more to fix it than it is worth. I enjoyed it for the 2+ years, but had some audio interference problems. The manual is not very useful and the remote is hard to manipulate well, especially for men who have larger hands. Do NOT buy this product. NOT recommended. I am sorry I bought it- especially considering this is the first time a TV has ever just gone dead for me. The service department is little to no help.

Customer Service

I was given one of these for Christmas by an out of town friend. The unit was shipped with the wrong power supply. I have been on the phone with them on three separate occasions trying to get the proper adapter. In spite of their sending two of the same type, the unit is useless. Worst was their inability to simply exchange it for a unit with the proper power supply.

They required a copy of the purchase receipt (cash transaction, no receipt kept...) to prove that the unit was not stolen or used. This last is insane as the unit is so new they cannot provide the proper parts for it. They cited "policy" on returns and then said that the decision was at the "corporate level." Bottom line - I would not recommend any, repeat, any Polaroid product since support and customer satisfaction is totally irrelevant to them and totally unacceptable to me the consumer.

Do Not Buy Polaroid

PAULS VALLEY, OKLAHOMA -- RE: Blank POLAROID TV. I feel your pain--I bought a Polaroid 46" LCD 5 months ago and it is also blank. Customer service claims to know it is a "control box" which they will ship (if it is in stock) as soon as I get the control box (how do they know it is a control box?--must be a common problem) which may be a few days or a few weeks, then I can call again to set up for a technician (another few days or few weeks).

I think paying $1,500.00 for a TV with a "full one year warranty" and another 2 yr extended warranty (extra cost) would justify a new one if it dumps. I'm still using 2 remotes because Polaroid doesn't have a code for my TV that will work with DirecTV. Don't bother going to their website for help--it sucks. I certainly won't buy another Polaroid!!!

Company Failed to Perform Under Warranty Agreement
By -

I purchased Polaroid portable DVD player in June 2007 and it stopped working in July 2007. I promptly contacted Polaroid and was urged to ship DVD player to Polaroid for it to be replaced/repaired (as per the warranty contract). DVD player was shipped to Polaroid in August 2007 (I had to pay for shipping costs myself) and a week later Polaroid customer service ensured me that DVD player was received and parts needed for repair had been back ordered. Several weeks passed and I contacted Polaroid again and again and again..

After months of trying I requested a refund and was told that I will receive refund within 30 days. I faxed a copy of the receipt in late October (as per customer service request). Since then I have called them several times. It is now December 31 and I still have not received a refund. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen or heard about. If there is a class action lawsuit filed against Polaroid for failure to perform under warranty contract, I would be interested in learning more about it.

Helped Finally!

WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS -- I had seen where others who had TV problems were not getting anywhere trying to contact the Polaroid company for warranty repairs. I did hold on the phone for almost an hour several times and did finally get a lady who took all of my information but never did contact me back. Then I finally got a man who took our info again and said there was nothing in their computer referring to us or our problem.

This man after finding out our problem - the TV had just quit working at all after just 4 months use, said he knew which part we needed, ordered it to be sent to our house and had a local repairman contact us for an appointment to repair the TV at our house. He came today and the TV is as good as new. If you have troubles with Polaroid just keep calling until you get someone who will really fix your problem. At one point I was ready to just give up but am glad I didn't.

Polaroid Nightmare
By -

BRADENTON, FLORIDA -- In Oct of 2005 I bought a Polaroid LCD TV with a one year warranty. It has broken down twice & Polaroid has me running all over the state for service. After being without it for a couple of months, I'm told it can't be fixed. Dealing with Polaroid has been a complete nightmare. I think they'd better stick to cameras.

I purchased this in Feb of 07. I did purchase the extended two-year warranty - had to use it once after the TV was just short of a year old and yesterday the piece of crap went out again. The volume was going up and down on its own - blue screen. We shut it off and it turned itself back on and now there is just a black screen. And the warranty is up! I truly expected this TV to last longer than 3.5 years. Fooled once - not again!
