Car Rental With Priceline Is Not Worth It.

LONDON, ONTARIO -- Rented a car through Priceline, and the car was to be in London Ontario, but ended up in Ontario (intl), Ont. which we later discovered is in California. Spent over 1 hour on the original day of the rental talking to many representatives. No luck, rented a hotel plus taxi to the hotel. The next day we did get a car. The company we rented the car from acknowledge the rate quoted by Priceline. Even though it was not the correct rate, the rental company also stated that the error had been made by Priceline but Priceline basically did nothing except to point fingers at everyone but themselves.

Their whole argument is based on the claim that the California address is on the confirmation. It is not and I am quite sure that someone from the car rental agency in both Canada and in the US would have said something when we were trying to find out where our car was. WE were trying to get an answer as to where the car was for over an hour on the night before. We finally gave up and went to a hotel. No compensation from Priceline, just finger pointing. My suggestion is do not use Priceline for car rental.

Rental Car

I rented a car for business purposes for 30 days through Priceline. I was scheduled to pick up the car at the airport on Wednesday. However, due to a change in business plans, I arrived at the airport three days later on Saturday. The rental company (Hertz) told me that my car was no longer available and referred me to Priceline. Priceline refused to get me a rental car or provide a refund even though I had 26 days left on my rental agreement.

By the way, the rental car company never billed Priceline for the rental car. Priceline felt that they could just keep my money without providing me a rental car (the greedy **). I had to sue them in small claims court and won.
The Priceline customer service representative was uncooperative and rude to me on the phone. Be careful about doing business with Priceline.

Fictitious Negotiators - Fraud
By -

Priceline.com is fake negotiator. When I booked my rental car I was told I would pay 173.17 for an economy car from ALAMO in New Orleans Louisiana. Yet, I was charged 394.30 for the vehicle. I called Alamo twice to confirm that what was indicated on my itinerary (173.17) and what Priceline told me was correct. Alamo confirmed the price of 173.17, but also indicated that I was responsible for the total charge because Priceline did not send over the required voucher.

When I contacted Priceline to dispute the charge they told me that the 173.17 was an estimate and they could not honor it. If I would have known that the third party negotiator would not do any negotiating I would have never booked a rental. Not to mention, I paid more for my rental than my airfare. I would have paid significantly less if I would have negotiated a price myself. PRICELINE's business is malicious! Pleas avoid doing business with this company at all cause. If they are unable to give accurate prices and stick to their word they do not deserve to get any of our business. STEER CLEAR!!!

Priceline committed fraud
By -

In January, 2010, my husband and I booked, on Priceline.com, a last minute flight with car rental to LAX, Ca. When we attempted to pick up our rental car, we were told the Priceline rental reservation number was assigned by Priceline to another customer, who had already picked up the car. I contacted Priceline and was told the car was picked up so I am not entitled to a refund. No matter that the car was picked up by someone else, hours before I was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles. (In fact, I was still in my home state when the car was collected).

The car company, Alamo, representatives, have stated that Priceline assigned the reservation number incorrectly so they are at fault. So they will not rectify the situation either. I had to pay full price to rent another car. So, not only did I not receive my car, I paid double to rent directly from another car company. I'll never use Priceline again.

Poor Customer Service

Rented a car in advance for my wife to travel approximately 2 hours from Sacramento airport. When she arrived Budget refused to rent her the car because I used my credit card and the name didn't match her driver's license, even though the last names were the same and even after I spoke with the manager directly, and tried to work with him to find a solution to the problem. We had to go offsite and rent a car for over double what I originally paid.

The original amount already hit my card. I then contacted Priceline while my wife was waiting at the airport, and like so many other reviews I read this was no different, they had no one to speak to immediately and stated it can take up to a few days for a return phone call... Really? While my wife is stuck 150 miles from her destination. I then e-mailed Priceline customer service, it stated they would get back to me in about 12 hours. 3 days later their response was tough **.

I then contacted Budget. They were very gracious and refund the whole amount as they also believe as it should be here in America that you should not have to pay for a service you did not receive. Needless to say STAY AWAY from Priceline. There are way too many other choices out there who care about their customers and not all about the dollar... Priceline can kiss my **.

Car Rental From Priceline

ON LINE -- I paid Priceline in advance for economy car rental 2 months in advance. When I arrived in Atlanta, there were dozens or hundreds of people waiting hours for Hertz rentals booked by Priceline. After waiting hours 1000 miles from home, we were told to call a cab. Since this was last minute at the airport, the best rental available in Atlanta that day was $200 more than I paid Priceline. Priceline said too bad and would not refund the difference. DO NOT EVER rent a car from PRICELINE. They do not uphold their agreements and leave you stranded hundred of miles from home.

Priceline.com Gone Wrong!

BUFFALO, NEW YORK -- I booked a car rental through Priceline.com and my bid was accepted! $35 for a one-day car rental. I thought- GREAT deal. Not the case. The sleepy or hung over clerk at Priceline sent the reservation to Avis Car Rental for a 24 hour rental instead of my 12 hour rental. When I dropped off the car, the check in guy printed me out a receipt for $353. They said "Because you are dropping the car off early it negates the original contract and defaults to the MAXIMUM allowable per day." What the **.

I went in to the office there and discussed my problem with the manager of Avis rental and he was very helpful. My online reservation from Priceline was correct. When they emailed it over to Avis it was wrong. Now I am fighting trying to get my money back!!! What a PITA. Never again.

NORWALK, CONNECTICUT -- Misleading information. Quoted a price for a car, got the price but was offered an upgrade, which I thought was $3 more turn out to be $18 more. The car is costing me more than double my original quote. I also blame myself for not reading the details before confirming. Tried to cancel to no avail. Later tried to change the pick up time. They would not change the pick up time by two hour. Stated that if I have a problem at pick up, call them and they will TRY and resolve the problem.

DO you THINK I TRUST THEM. Not customer friendly. Save yourself some grief. There are too many other travel sites I have never had problems with. In talking with other people they have had problems and will never use them again. Every chance I get I will BAD Mouth them. Captain Kirk should be ashamed. If you still use them double check before you confirm. No do overs with them. In doing further research could have gotten better deals at other websites.

Hidden fees in car rental

ROBBINSDALE -- Thankfully, I didn't go through with my recent Priceline bid for a car rental Las Vegas. I had detailed information about all the various tax and fees levied when renting at the Las Vegas International airport, and I was confused when my total price page came up on Priceline because the taxes and fees they levied were more than twice what would have actually been levied by the various taxing agencies. Priceline states on their website (you have to click around a little) that the taxes and fees they levy are estimates, and that they keep any discrepancy as a fee for service. But this was ridiculous--renting the car from the company directly for the same price would have cost me half of what Priceline charged for taxes and fees.

The Priceline fees negated any savings that using their bidding service would have won me, in addition to having to assume the risk of paying in advance with no possibility of a refund. Beware--Priceline doesn't itemize their taxes and fees if you are bidding--so it will be next to impossible to realize what a huge fee they've tacked on unless you research the actual tax rates and fees that will be charged to you at any given location. I got a fabulous price on an airline ticket through Priceline last year--so I'm not saying not to use the service, but please be extra careful.

Very Very Unsatisfactory Assistance

VA BEACH, VIRGINIA -- My wife did not put both our names on driver list and when an emergency came up I was unable to go, so I tried just to have her name added to driver list so she could get the car. When she got to Florida and they said due to contract they could not add her name or take mine off and just add hers. I will write a letter to the president of that suck ** company and give him the names of everyone I talked to until I get a response to why it is so hard to go into a computer and change a name.

SUCK ** COMPANY IS PRICELINE BY THE WAY. I sure would like to know who owns it so I could call all his employees and tell them because none of them know who they work for.
