Upsetting Experience

I went to a Raymour & Flanigan store to simply shop. (Get prices, see what I might be interested in for future purchase.) I explained that I was considering moving to a Sr. Apt and would have to downsize my furniture. I asked for a list of the items of interest and was told I could have a computer printout. I initialed the printout and accepted it as a quote, once again I stressed to the salesperson that it would be in the future if at all.

When I got home and read the list, I noticed it said thank you for your purchase and all sales final. There was $7,500 on the order! I called and was told it was just how their computers worked. One week later I had a voice message asking me how my move went and received a statement in the mail the same day stating that my furniture was on layaway and I owed $25. What started out as a simple research on my part has turned into a nightmare. Calling once again I was told this is just how their computers work. I will never feel comfortable going into Raymour & Flanigan again for any reason whatsoever.

Nomour and Flanigan

NEW YORK AREA, NEW YORK -- Bought a media console for a new wide screen TV. The unit was delivered half wrapped in plastic with the doors off. Delivery man put doors on poorly which I noticed after they left. Thought I could make a small adjustment but I had to re-drill new holes for the hinges because the doors were severely misaligned. Did not want to leave TV on floor for weeks so I repaired it myself. Poor quality for the money. Made in Mexico and certainly not for the discriminating buyer.

Have a coworker who is having a bad time with customer service. I know my piece was a floor model because I remember the same exact stain mark on the front veneer panel. Won't shop there again. Poor quality. Would expect this from a discount furniture store which they are not!

Do Not Buy Mattress From Them
By -

We purchased a mattress from them - $1700. We bought the memory foam - Raymour and Flanigan brand - "Pisces" was the name of the mattress. Purchased it 6/2006 and delivered in 8/2006 - Within a matter of months - had sink holes where you lay. You cannot turn this type of mattress over.

After several calls and with some hassle - they sent someone out to verify. They came and replaced the mattress. It is now 9/2008- had the new one a little over a year. Sink holes again - and my back and body just ache every night. I am only 140 lbs - not like I am a big person. I wake up several times in the night in pain.

PENNSYLVANIA -- I purchased a bed. It was put together very badly. I have to fix it once a week and it broken because they use plywood to hold the box spring and mattress up.

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK -- Purchased two office chairs two months ago. One arrived broken and I'm still waiting for a new one. They told me the part is in China and there is nothing they could do about it. They took my money fast and now they are playing me. Very bad customer service.

Poor Quality Chairs
By -

I purchased two dining room chairs in November 2010. It is now December 2010 and one chair has cracked at the back and the other has a leg that is coming loose from the seat. I had to glue them in order to use them. I paid around $150 a piece for them and I am so upset with the quality that I will never again order from Raymour & Flanigan.

Poor Communications

SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA -- I will never purchase another piece of furniture from Raymour & Flanigan. They have poor unreliable service. I ordered a recliner from the store, after a month I called for the status of the order. I was told that they JUST received information that that chair is no longer being made by the manufacturer. Dealing with this business place is worse than dealing with used car lots. They pulled a bait and switch and I will pass this information on to future consumers.

Excellent Service

YONKERS, NEW YORK -- I purchased a bedroom set and found the salesperson to be extremely helpful and patient, the delivery was on time and assembled, and the furniture looks terrific. We did have a problem with the bed slats 6 months later but R&F replaced and repaired within the bed within a week.

Great Customer Service

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS -- I purchased a bedroom set about a year and a half ago and I recently moved. When I did I put a large nick in my headboard. I had no idea what to do so I called the store to see what they would charge to fix it. They said "nothing" and that they would send someone over to repair it right away. I thought that was great seeing as though I never purchased the extended service plan.
