Fraudulent Postings, Unethical Practices

LAS VEGAS, CALIFORNIA -- I signed up for the 3-day subscription. I followed up with about 20 or so phone calls and more emails. I received 0 responses. I met the criteria for all ads I responded to. I even described my financial stability and good character. All ads I responded to were 'new' or same day. Why no responses? Then I got charged 29.95 the next month. Who would have thought that a 3-day subscription would be an automatic renewal for 30 days? This is nothing more than a trap for the unwary. If you want to waste your time, go for it, but do not subscribe.

Very Dishonest Business Practices At Roomster.com Fake Profiles Fake Rooms

I've been looking for rooms in the city for a couple of months now, stumbled upon roomster.com, never purchased any membership. I noticed that every week, they send email saying "x sent you a message'' I always end up clicking to look at the rooms, I finally noticed something weird... they periodically send me the same room pictures with different names and different descriptions. Recently, I noticed that they sent me the same room again with the same person's profile picture but with a different name this time.

What does that tell me and you??? If you're new, and you are really trying to find a room, there's a high probability that they will get you to buy their membership since you will fall for their tricks. I've been following their emails for months now and I feel like it's very dishonest from them to do that. Fake profiles and fake rooms. They could have done a better job by at least sending different rooms!! Come on now...

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I am a huge yoga addict and I go to the studio almost every day to get myself straightened out. My instructor told me that there was an extra room in the studio that used to be used as a meditation room but not many people were signing up for that class so he was looking into other options to see what he could do with the room. I suggested he rent it out on Roomster, I used it to find a roommate for my place when I moved here, it's a really great site and an easy way to list rooms for rent. A few weeks after listing the room he found a really sweet girl to rent the room and it seems to be working out just great.

Amazing Site

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK -- I just started writing music with this artist based out of Los Angeles and I would initially go out there for a week at a time to do our sessions and then come back to New York. After a few sessions together of writing some incredible music the label decided they would pair us up to do an entire album together. This meant I would have to move to LA full time so I started looking into good deals in the area to live.

I came across Roomster's site during my searches and it seemed like a really great resource to find places to rent on the cheap. A few weeks later I found myself on a plane with all my belongings, ready to move into my new home! I found an incredible deal in a really cool artist community that was so perfect. Really excited for the new music we will be writing and releasing for the world to enjoy!

I almost gave up trying to find a room to rent for an affordable price until I found Roomster

NEW YORK -- I am a club promoter and work very late nights during the week usually until about 5am. My previous roommate who I had met through my old college roommate was constantly complaining about the hour at which I would get home to which I would respond “If you want to pay my bills then by all means go ahead and I won't have to come home at 5am”. Needless to say that didn't go over so well. One time it got so bad we got into a huge argument that almost got physical and finally I decided I couldn't deal with it anymore so I knew I needed an alternative. My colleague told me about Roomster, apparently he knows someone who works for them, and suggested I try it to find a new place. I created a profile and was surprised by the number of rooms they have listed. I ended up finding a great deal on a room to rent and because I was able to include some details about myself on my profile detailing my nightly work hours I found a perfect match with someone who also worked nights.

Glad to Say That I Was Able to Get Myself Out of That Potentially Dangerous Situation Thanks to Roomster.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- So here's our Roomster story. My boyfriend and I have a two bedroom apartment and we rent out the second bedroom to help with expenses. Until about a month ago we had this girl Chelsea (we changed her name in this post for anonymity) renting out the room and she seemed pretty normal for the first few months living together. That all changed very quickly. One night my boyfriend and I get home at around 2:00am after hitting the bars with some friends. I guess Chelsea thought we weren't coming home that night for some reason, because we found her and four other people engaged in an orgy in our living room! I mean can you say GROSS!!!! [They were] humping like rabbits all over our nice clean furniture and one of the sexual deviants apparently thought it would be a good idea to use vegetable oil as lube but it ended up resulting in a VERY slippery situation. My boyfriend slipped and split his chin open on the coffee table and we rushed to the ER at 2:30am so he could get stitches! Needless to say at the end of this nightmarish fiasco we had to kick Chelsea out of the apartment. A friend of ours recommended we use Roomster to fill the newly vacant room and I gotta say I'm so happy with how it turned out. Roomster helped us find a great, respectful roommate in less than week and we have had no issues with them. Would highly recommend this site!

Make Sure You Are Aware of "Auto-Renewal"

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I signed up for the 15-day subscription for $15 to test out the site. What I didn't know was that after the 15 days, I would be charged a full months renewal without being asked if I want to continue using the site. I'm sure it said something about this in the fine print but lets be real-- they aren't trying to inform anyone and I HATE companies like this.

So two months went by where I was paying $30/month while not even going on the site anymore. Once I figured it out I asked to at least get one month's payment back and they decided to give me a prorated $25 for the most recent month back. Anyway they are creating a bad name for themselves I would just stick with craigslist which is free and easy once you learn how to weed out the weirdos. I found my apartment on craigslist and my roommates are great and I'm happy with it.

RENO, NEVADA -- I don't usually post bad reviews, but this one needs to be seen (along with all the other poor reviews I seen after the fact.) I posted a listing, room for rent. A couple days later I received an "inquiry" about my post. When I tried to read it, Roomster required payment of 9.99/week to communicate with potential renters. So I paid it. Then I went back to the inquiry and it said, "Conversation no longer available." I figured since I paid for a week, I'd use it for that week. I put a note on my calendar for 5 days later to cancel. Turns out, they charged another fee of 9.99 on that fifth day, TWO DAYS EARLY. I'm totally fed up so cancelled it altogether, not using the additional week that I apparently paid for two days early.

Scammed Within 24 Hours

MARYLAND -- BEWARE!!!! THREE people tried to scam me within 24 hours. THREE unless they're one person but regardless you have to be careful. Every time I would mention about wanting to check the place out there was always an excuse or no reply then they would respond back hours later changing the subject. Pay attention to the IDs they send you. They're FAKE. They'll text you a pic of their IDs. One girl's age didn't match up with the date on the card.

One person claimed they were out of town so they wanted me to send MY HARD EARNED MONEY to them and she was going to MAIL ME SOME KEYS that didn't even sound right. Then another chick claimed her dad was sick so she always in another state and insist no tour. ALSO I forgot to mention that this chick had text some of the similar words the other girl said meaning they had the same misspelled and poor grammar words. That's when I thought maybe this is one person trying to scam people. If they will not let you tour the place then something's up. Don't do it.

Total Ripoff, Do Not Ever Use!!!

GEORGIA -- Not "Roomster," "FRAUDSTER." This is a total CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION whose only goal is to part you with your hard earned money. The ripoff starts the moment you sign up. After getting stuck with a ten dollar "security fee," when you go to login, they hit you with ANOTHER charge, just to subscribe to what you just thought you already did!!! And it only gets worse from there. Their system is so utterly confusing and frustrating, that by the end of the day you're so crazy that you'll be ready for the nuthouse. Their "Customer Service" is just another scam, who do absolutely to correct any issues you may have, and believe me, you will have many. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
