Stolen Camera on Majesty of the Seas
By -

I recently went on a cruise on The Majesty of the Seas (10/16/09-10/19/09) out of Miami. On the last night of the cruise my camera was stolen. I went to guest relations several times throughout the rest of the cruise and of course, they had nobody turn in a camera. They never asked me for my name in case it turned up or took any kind of incident report. The crew member could only say "these things happen"...

I can't prove obviously that a crew member stole the camera, but I was not happy with how the incident was "dismissed"... Even at the end of the cruise, before disembarking, I checked again.. This time, the same crew member I spoke to the evening before, just said "no, we have no cameras" and never even checked. Just really poor customer service. I probably will not sail them again!

Wake Up Call To A 4:00 A.M. Fax
By -

This has been a reoccurring issue for about a year now. The midnight to four AM faxes calling in to my home phone. They wake my entire household from a dead sleep in a panic and then I have to try to calm everyone back down. Everyone but myself of course. I'm up writing letters to anyone who will listen. "I HAVE NEVER TAKEN A CRUISE" and I'm pretty sure Royal Caribbean will not be the co. I use when deciding to go.

I have written letters to everyone I can find listed, I've called and asked to be removed and told to mail a letter! I am sick of having to do all the work for an error their company has made and it's high time they take the reins and fix this problem! "SLEEP DEPRIVED IN FLORIDA."

Unusable Rewards Certificate
By -

NEW JERSEY -- I recently redeemed a rewards certificate from an AT&T charge card for $500 for Royal Caribbean. Unlike the certificate we received from a Royal Caribbean charge card, this certificate cannot be used for on board credit, excursions, gratuities or even payment if the reservation was made by a travel agent (a procedure suggested by RC on their annoying phone message while you wait for a human being).

After six calls to Crown and Anchor as well as corporate guest relations and including a few transfers without any spoken indication the person was 'dumping' me in someone else's lap, I have now concluded that we have a $500 credit that can only be used on a future cruise. BEWARE the fine print!!! What is the point of such narrow parameters for this certificate? As you might imagine, getting out there seems less enticing right now. Our next cruise will be on Holland America in the fall. We are getting tired of 3 1/2 hour stops in San Juan.

It's hard to believe that in these tough economic times travelers who are one cruise away from Diamond plus status cannot find anyone to help in this situation. Of course, it tells me that individual customers have no voice at Royal Caribbean. Wonder what Mr. Goldstein will say when all of the irate individuals eventually add up to economic difficulties for him?

Stolen Items From Luggage
By -

JUSTICE, ILLINOIS -- I cruised on the Majesty of the Seas on Jan. 11, 2008- Jan. 14, 2008, Miami, FL. When it was time to leave and we cleared customs, we went to retrieve our luggage. Clearly my friend had his luggage but mine took a very long time coming out. Finally, the luggage decides to come from the back. When I arrived at the airport I decided to check my luggage because I was checking to see the size on a t-shirt that I had purchased from Nassau. Well, I continued to look and it was missing. So I figured maybe the salesman did not put it in my bag. I decided to check my entire bag.

As I am going through my luggage 3 pairs of sandals were stolen, 4 pairs of pants, 1 pair of shorts, 5 t-shirts, 6 t-shirts from Nassau, and my underwear! Get this, they had even stolen my dirty underwear! All of these items were stolen from my suitcase. When I called Royal Caribbean the next day the customer service rep asked me did I file a report at the port. Uhhh, NO! Who checks their complete bag at the port?

I left just like everyone else. If I would have known that all of my clothes and shoes would have been stolen, well I would have checked! The Rep gave me the information and who to fax the report to but she said that there is probably nothing they can do. She said to give them 4 to 6 weeks to investigate the situation. I kindly said, "Oh yes. We will get to the bottom of this!"

Theft by Guest Services
By -

SAN PEDRO, CALIFORNIA -- Ship: Monarch of the Seas, San Pedro, CA to Ensenada, Mexico, November 30 to December 3, 2007. On November 30, 2007 at around 5:00 pm I put my wallet into a safe deposit box behind the desk at Guest Relations assuming that it would be secure since there were no safes in the room. I had one credit card and two bank cards in my wallet, a drivers license, a AAA card and $160 in cash. My wallet was placed into an unlocked metal box and taken behind a closed door, presumably into the safe.

However, I never saw the box go into the safe. When I retrieved my wallet the next morning on December 1, $60 in cash was missing. Again, I did not see the box come out of the safe as again, the door was shut. At some point from the time I put the wallet into Guest Relations trust until the time I took it out, $60 was taken out of my wallet.

I filed a complaint on board with security. Then, when checking out with Guest Services, my credit card mysteriously would not go through and I had to stand in a very long line while everybody else disembarked. I later called up my credit card company and found that the wrong expiration date for the card had been entered. Retribution for reporting the theft? I filed a formal complaint with Royal Caribbean when I returned. It will be a long time before I ever go on a cruise ship again. The entire operation is shady.

Majesty of the seas nightmare!
By -

I took my children and mother on the Majesty of the seas on Nov. 23 to the 26th for a weekend getaway. What a nightmare! The entertainment on the cruise was so borderline I was embarrassed to have my children in the room. The magician my children were talking about seeing all day long ended his act by trying to "work" three paddle balls at the same time. Two in each hand and one down his pants! He moved his hips in a way that looked as though he was in the rack and when he couldn't get it to work he pulled on the ball like he was pleasing himself!

I have been answering questions ever since. Not only that but he actually had an audience member hold three baseballs during the show and said "I have never had a man holding my balls before!" I couldn't believe my ears! Above all this, I never once met my room attendant and the service was horrible!

My daughter wanted one of the airbrushed tattoos they have on the boat and she, like a kid, wanted it on her neck. The woman doing the tattoos said "you don't want it there, that is gross!" Not only that but I signed the receipt for 16.95 and was over charged on my seapass account by more than 5.00, that may not sound like much but it make me wonder what else I got over charged for! I will never go on another Royal Caribbean cruise again in my life! We have been on Carnival twice before and we love them and we will use them from now on!

Lost Luggage
By -

First of all, let me state that I am not surprised that I cannot contact the company directly. My husband and I went on an awards trip to Alaska on the "Serenade of the Seas" in June. Following all directives from the "people in the know" at the airport, we went directly to our ship upon arrival in Vancouver. Expecting our luggage to be delivered to our staterooms, we went about exploring the ship. When we returned to the room after setting sail, my husband's luggage was in place and mine was not. I began at that moment to locate my luggage. I filed a complaint that first afternoon. I was told that they couldn't contact the airport until the next day.

I won't bore you with all of the details but suffice it to say I got a complete runaround from the cruise ship who blamed it on the airlines. On the last day of our week long cruise, I was told that my luggage had gotten put on another cruise line going to a destination I never visited. I filed a complaint with United Airlines and they did nothing short of bending over backwards to return my luggage to me. Of course Royal Caribbean never took responsibility for my loss or compensated in any way! I received my bag 2 1/2 weeks after I left it in the hands of our local airport employees. I will never cruise Royal Caribbean again and I tell everyone I know my unhappiness with them.

Stolen Laptop
By -

BARCELLONA -- My wife and I took a cruise out of Barcelona on August 18, 2006. We sailed on the Millennium which is under the Celebrity Cruise Line owned by Royal Caribbean. Upon arriving at the airport, my wife checked her laptop bag with the porter from the ship to have it delivered with the rest of our luggage to our stateroom which was the process.

Upon arriving at our stateroom, my wife discovered that the laptop was removed from her bag along with the power cord. We reported the incident immediately to the ship's personnel and a formal report was made. I also faxed a letter from the boat to Royal Caribbean concerning the incident. I did have insurance coverage from the cruise line as part of my booking package.

Upon my return to the states, I received a vague letter from Ms. ** indicating that the company would not reimburse me for the cost of the laptop. Upon getting the letter I called Ms. ** to inquire as to why I would not be compensated for a theft that occurred while my property was in her company's care. She indicated that the company's policy was that they did not compensate passengers for damaged electronics. I explained to her that my laptop was not damaged it was stolen and I should be compensated for the cost of a replacement.

She was not able to resolve the situation so I asked to speak to her manager. She gave me the name and direct line number to Ms. **. I've called twice and left messages for Ms. ** concerning this incident and she has yet to respond to me.

A Dream Destroyed
By -

COCO CAY -- I recently went on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas with a stop of at Coco Cay a privately owned island by the Royal Caribbean. I wanted to experience the parasailing adventure (which the Royal Caribbean own and is run by Royal Caribbean employees) with a close friend. It cost 79$ each. Once on the boat to do the activity we were told that we had to go in a three with a complete stranger. We had no choice in the matter.

When all buckled up I said to the instructor that I wanted and pay to experience this with the friend I was with. At the last minute the instructor told me and my friend to let this complete stranger sit in the middle of us. This experience was completely ruined as I didn't enjoy it. I paid to enjoy it with my friend but nothing was done. It's a complete scam and the price were too high. Do not recommended this cruise.

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- Working with the company was a great opportunity but not to work with some of the managers. to much favoritism and racism.

Look at my room that they wanted for me to live in and when it was reported it seems like I was giving trouble.
