Windstream - Dish Network Informative - Dish Network Through Windstream
FLORIDA -- Oops, I forgot to pay my Windstream bill. Haven't we all done this at one point? I don't think I got my bill last month, we have had some trouble with mail being taken from our box - but thats another story. Anyway, I got home from work this evening and realized at 6:45pm that the Dish service had been interrupted. I called Windstreams "customer service" number and was put through to the automatic payment. Okay no problem, paid my bill and then sat down expecting the service to be turned on. 10 minutes later - still no service so, I call the customer service number again and make my way through all the options to find out customer service is closed. I was informed office hours are from 7am to 7pm. It was now 7:03. Had I not just spent the last 3 or so minutes navigating my way through the phone system, I might have been able to speak with someone in customer service. I hang up and try again this time I choose Dish network support, I was disconnected on the first attempt.
I try again and low and behold a live person answers the phone and I didn't have to push a bunch of buttons. The man at dish network was very nice and helpful but he informed me that my service was disconnected because of non-payment and he couldn't turn it back on without speaking to Windstream, but their CLOSED. I offered to make a payment to them too, just to have my service turned back on - he couldn't take my payment. So I asked him "am I the only person who has ever called you with this problem? He didn't answer so I continued, I came home from work noticed it was off, called and paid it at 6:49 and then I sat there like an idiot expecting for it to come back on. Now your telling me I just don't have TV tonight because their customer service is closed? Really no one has ever had this problem beside me? This time he said I was not the first. Thank god I am not the only idiot out there! I asked if he had another number for Windstream, he said he did not.
I called every single number I could find for Windstream, I even tried their on-line support finally an hour and a half later, I call the residential repair line. Thats the secret, you have to select no dial tone, enter your phone number, don't put a number you can be reached at while your phone is in disrepair, instead push pound. The system says you will need to be transfered to a rep. Once you have them on the line tell them your service has been disconnected, she will realize that you mean your dish, notice you made a payment and transfer you to the illusive after hours customer service rep - who will turn your TV back on. Basically, if this happens to you, call the repair number and do what ever you have to to speak with a live person. All that a side, can I just say WINDSTREAM SUCKS!!!
How is it possible for a company not to have an after hours number? They have after hours reps but no way to reach them. Had my phone actually been turned off would I have had to wait until tomorrow for that to come back on as well? I would not recommend bundling your phone with your dish network service, keep them separate at all cost. They tell you you will save money - they lie AND you will have a 2 year service agreement that you can not terminate (without a fee) when they give you the same crappy customer service on your dish as they do your phone and DSL. I will save my DLS gripes for another day!
