Expedia.co.uk Complaint - Customer Services from Hell
Thursday 23rd March 2005 is a day I will never forget, screaming angry men, sobbing children being comforted by there mothers and all this was happening at the Continental Airline ticket booth at Birmingham International airport. The reason for the mayhem was Continental flight CO33 to Newark USA had been cancelled due to flight staff exceeding their legal working hours and being Easter spring break there was no possibility of a flight for three days. Excepting the forms for claiming compensation I retired to the airport café to complete the three forms (one for each ticket). I returned the forms and enquired how I could obtain a refund; I was advised to contact my travel agents Expedia.co.uk.
We arrived back home 5 hours later and called Expedia.co.uk straight away and this is what happened.
They checked for availability and offered me new flights in four days time, the ticket price had doubled and I would have to pay again in full to book them. I asked if Expedia.co.uk could offset the £1800.00 I had paid them a month earlier? NO was response, this would have needed me to finance £6000.00 and I had received nothing. I requested a manager call me at home and he confirmed I would have to pay again so I requested a full refund.
I have sent 33 emails to firstname.lastname@example.org many in response to individuals working in a call centre; they will not provide a direct telephone number or a last name and when you respond to Heema you receive an email from Carl etc. I have called them 8 times and asked for specific individuals but they are never available I have even tried Expedia.com hoping they could perhaps tell me when and how I would obtain a refund.
14 days later our holiday time is over, my 6 year son is back at school and all I have to show is £40 taxi fare, $2000 in currency and a promise of a refund in 7 to 10 days. The fefund will not include the £113 cancellation insurance taken out 4 weeks earlier with the flight tickets, the cancellation of insurance has to be done in the 14 days cooling off period!!
This is a warning to anyone who will listen; using Expedia will seriously upset you and your family.
