LEWISTON, MAINE -- Robyn: The call may be recorded. What concerns or difficulties did you have that led you to need a medical alert device?

Jeannette: I don۪t have any really medical problems at the moment. It۪s just that I live alone and I have my own house and I۪ve fallen before but, you know so that was the main reason, for safety.

Robyn: Before using GreatCall Splash, did you use another medical alert service?

Jeannette: No.

Robyn: And since using GreatCall Splash, can you describe any changes in your day--to-day life like do you feel more independent, have fewer worries?

Jeannette: Well, I worry a little less because I carry it on me and when I go downstairs in the basement or something because that۪s where I fell one time a while back.

Robyn: Can you tell me about your experience interacting with the GreatCall team like were they friendly, helpful, knowledgeable?

Jeannette: Oh, yes.

Robyn: And can you describe how your medical alert device fits into your everyday lifestyle -- like is it easy to use, comfortable, convenient?

Jeannette: Well, it۪s fine because I haven۪t needed to use it really. I just am carrying it with me and as long as it۪s flashing, I know it۪s okay. The only thing is I find I don۪t know how soon I have to recharge it because it seems I۪ve had to do it you know, a few times, I had to do it every week and I don۪t know if that۪s normal or if I didn۪t leave it on long enough to charge. Yeah, that۪s the only little thing that I۪ve noticed so far.

Robyn: Do you have any other experiences or comments that you۪d like to share with GreatCall?

Jeannette: Not at the moment. I just feel more secure just having it with me and now, that۪s about luckily, I haven۪t had to use it.

Robyn: And how would you rate your experience on a scale of 1 to 5 stars where 5 stars means you۪d recommend them to a friend, 1 star means you۪re very dissatisfied?

Jeannette: Well, I would recommend it. Right now, I don۪t know anybody who needs it but I was recommended by a friend and I would do the same.

Robyn: So you۪d rate it a 5?

Jeannette: Sure.

Robyn: Finally, how would you summarize your experience in just a couple of words?

Jeannette: I think everyone that I spoke with was helpful and they had the answers or knew where to get it and I think they were reassuring.

Robyn: And would it be okay if we posted some of your comments on our website to make your feedback available to GreatCall?

Jeannette: Well, I prefer not to have it on the website but...

Robyn: Well, it won۪t have your name. I can do it anonymously. But this is just to help GreatCall with feedback.

Jeannette: I mean as long as it۪s anonymous, you know, I۪m not sure I said anything very brilliant but, you know_ [Laughs]

Robyn: The call may be recorded.

PICKENS, SOUTH CAROLINA -- My 88 year old mother was falling pretty much so she needed a medical alert device and my sister got one and chose Lively Mobile. We felt a lot better when she had the device as it made her feel a little bit independent. She got out and went to places. The Lively Mobile team always responded immediately.

LYNN HAVEN, FLORIDA -- My husband had dementia and he wandered off a lot. He had a medical alert bracelet with a senior return number on it and I gave information to medical alert on how to reach me if he gets lost. He had a little GPS tracking device associated with the medical alert. When he was alive, they were able to tune in on it and find him and they tried calling my cell number. Plus, with the GPS, whoever they talked to told them to look for the device and press the button, and then it would alert me on my phone on exactly where he was. But the company that was providing it suddenly just quit.

Now that I live alone, I have Lively Mobile as a safety device to press if I need assistance. I'm allergic to different antibiotics and I need it if I get in an accident and could not tell them. Also, I had problems with falling so I have it on me in case something happens. They could call my son or daughter-in-law to check on me. I carry the device in my pocket with the button turned towards the inside so I don't accidentally bump it on something and set it off. I took off the necklace part because I don't like anything around my neck since it is hot.

When I initially got it and set it up, I was not certain that it was set up, so I pressed the button and the reps immediately answered. There were a couple of times I called customer service and had them help me find it as I would leave it somewhere. They would check the GPS system and would tell me that it was in the back part of my house. Then, they would turn the beeper on so I could follow the sound and find it. I feel safe and I have been very pleased with Lively Mobile.

DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA -- I'm in my old age so I decided to get a medical alert device. I feel reassured since using Lively Mobile. But unfortunately, it's sitting on my table and I haven't been wearing it at all because I'm usually going out with my family.

GRANGEVILLE, IDAHO -- After seeing three years' worth of infomercials, I decided to purchase a hot tub from ThermoSpas. I believed in the quality of their manufacturing and some of the features that they have that many others didn't. We've got a Manhattan with 172 jets. It has four pumps and a bubbler and some nice lighting to it as well. While I had few calls with the Thermospas team, the calls were very efficient. They solved the problem quickly so I was very satisfied.

The hot tub has only been running for about three weeks but it definitely adds to our backyard entertainment and enjoyment. And so far, it's been very good quality. I can definitely see the difference between it and cheaper cups just by looking at them. I would like the price to have it lower though. Still, I would tell friends that they should seriously consider Thermospas. It's a good choice.

FIFIELD, WISCONSIN -- I'm getting old and I live alone and having my Lively Mobile makes me feel good and more confident. I'm happy with it. I accidentally hit it in Florida when I was in a restaurant and they asked me if I was all right. And another time here at home, I hit it accidentally and they asked me if I was all right and I said, “Yes, I am.” So, I've never had to use it for an emergency, but I've accidentally used it and they came up where they answered me and everything was all right.

HUNTSVILLE, TENNESSEE -- I had a heart attack and I'm not allowed to drive about a 12-mile radius of where I live because the doctor doesn't want me driving that much. My sons didn't want me getting out and going anywhere as well but when I got Lively Mobile, my youngest son talked to them and they explained out to him and it made them more satisfied with me driving. I feel safer and I can get out and go where I'm allowed to drive. Also, if someone wants to come and try to get in, all I would have to do is push the button. I know if something happens, there is help for me soon. I really like it.

I usually lay the device on the nightstand overnight. I get up every morning and I charge it. When it gets charged up, I put it on and before I go to bed, I lay it on the cradle for about an hour and charge it back up where it'll make it through the night. Its size is about three inches long, two inches wide, three-quarters of an inch thick and I wear that on a lanyard around my neck.

I went to the Chiropractor one day and that's about 11 miles from home. I laid the device in the car and went in the office. When I shut the door, it set it off. The nurse came back to me and asked if I have a medical device. I told her I have Lively Mobile then she told me that someone from Lively Mobile called me there. They even called my son because he's my contact person. So now, when I go to church, I'll turn it off and leave it in the car and then when I come back out I put it back on.

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON -- Lively Mobile has a two-way communication feature that we liked. You could push the button and you actually get to talk to a human. And it also has fall detection. But something went wrong in the transfer when we moved from Splash to Lively. The fall detection didn't work in a real fall and it kept activating in unreal falls.

My mom was having trouble with the Splash device maintaining its battery strength so we upgraded to Lively. But we thought we would get a call and talk to somebody and had it activated. So my mom was still wearing the old device when she fell. It was horrific since I wasn't there. Fortunately, there were some friends and she didn't break anything this time. But I wasn't pleased that it didn't work. We got the device for fall detection and the old unit was disabled before I got back into town to enable the new one.

I called and tried to understand why it didn't communicate and was told that they had deactivated the old device because they had sent out the new one. My understanding was, they wouldn't deactivate it until we called to make the switch. Something went wrong in our communication so it was a negative experience for us.

Also, the Lively device kept losing power and we weren't sure what was going on. I took control of it and was charging it every night because I want to make sure that it was sitting properly on the charger. And when I charge it, she'd get a good eight hours out of it. We got a software upgrade since it turned out the fall detection wasn't working. Now that it was upgraded, every time my mom goes to put it on the charger, just the movement of taking it off her head and putting it down, it would say that fall was detected. That freaked her out so we had to disable that. If they are able to get it a bit more refined as there are some glitches, that would be great.

NORTH PLATTE, NEBRASKA -- I'm 90 and I used to travel a lot at first after my husband passed away. My girls and grandkids always thought I should be going to their house instead of staying home which was nice, but I don't do that as much anymore although I still drive, go to rehab and take care of myself. But I'll soon be 91 and I still do my own baking and cooking, do my own grocery shopping but I get awful tired if I run the vacuum sweeper. My daughter, Patty, thought I should have a medical alert device.

When she first said I should have it, I said, “I don't need it. I have my cellphone and I carry it with me constantly. And then if I fall, I'll just dial 911.” She said, “Yeah. But if you get hurt you can't do that, then what do you do?” I said, “Well, I guess if I die, I die.” My daughters felt that it's an extra security for them because if I should fall, Patty would be contacted immediately. One night, I turned over then I heard a voice saying, “Are you okay?” They were quick to respond. I didn't know I bumped the device then it wasn't long and my daughter called to ask if I was ok.

I enjoy Lively Mobile very much. I plug it in when I get up in the morning and when I'm ready for the day I go put it back on unless I'm going to take a shower and then I take it with me. I dropped it the other day but it still bleeps. I have recommended it to friends several times. I have a sister that has the alert like mine and she was told to never to put the alert inside her blouse. I told my sister that I have it inside my blouse always because if I don't it hits my glasses when I bend over and I can't afford new glasses.

I called Lively Mobile to ask and she said that it won't happen when I keep it next to my chest so that's where the device is at. I took a metal necklace chain, cut some of the black cord off the device, and stitched my necklace chain on it. It stays that way there.

MANCHESTER, NEW JERSEY -- I had a hip operation three years ago and I fell once after that. nd I tripped on a rock two more times. My daughter was going on vacation and she got a medical alert device for me. I'm happy with the Lively Mobile device but I don't want to wear it because of the light that blinks 24 hours a day. I have the charger on my nightstand, I put that in there and I have to cover it because that light drives me nuts all night. When I get dressed and I have it around my neck, I turn it over but I know it's there and it still blinks. But I still wear it, and sometimes I carry it in my purse. I thought, eventually, that light was going to go off.

Sometimes I'm not careful with it, like when I go in the car from my kitchen into the garage and I open the car door. I have it in my hand and I don't throw it, I lay it down carefully on the seat on the passenger side. It went into the coffee cup holders and something else had been in there and the device went off. They called right away and said, “We have you lying down on the floor. Are you hurt?” I said, “I'm not lying on the floor. I just put my whole body and thrust the seat so I had to put that alert thing in the cup holder. It probably hit something in there.” I did that twice and right on the ball, they were fast. But I don't mind that because it's going to save me one day.

Also, it's so sensitive. I have to put a bunch of tissues around it so nothing hits it. One time I touched it by accident and it went off. I don't want it to be always going off. I've been careful now. Considering everything, I like it and I would recommend it to a friend.
