Retractable Screen Door

WESTMINSTER -- Screen door came apart immediately after install. They came out to fix and said it needed replaced. They came four weeks later and replaced but claimed the new sliding door was warped. They came three weeks later to replace the door and screen door both. Door is fine but screen door still does not work. It is a poor design and no one should buy it because they can't fix them. Not worth the money and a terrible stain on Anderson's products.

Changing Screen Out, Putting Storm Door Glass In.

ANON LAKE, OHIO -- Very difficult to pull out vinyl strips that hold the screen in place. After that was accomplished, putting them back to secure the storm door window was just as bad. I do not recommend this door. Very poor design. My fingers hurt from pulling the strips out that are supposed to be removed to do the exchange. After all the raves I've heard about Andersen products I believed they would have had a better product, live and learn.

Andersen 3000 Self-Storing Storm Door

DELAWARE -- I recently purchased two Andersen 3000 Series "self storing" storm doors at Home Depot. One is defective. Its self-storing screen doesn't work. Andersen will not allow Home Depot to exchange it. And, Andersen's warranty is truly "limited", limited to a replacement part only... No labor to install it... Just a replacement part. Suggestion -- if you're looking for a new storm door, consider a different brand, one that's more reliable and better made.

Replacement Part (Screen Clips) for Andersen Screen Door

WALDWICK, NEW JERSEY -- The bottom clip that holds the screen in place literally broke in half. When I called for a replacement part, I was informed that I would have to buy an entire set of 4 clips for a cost of $45. I don't need all four, just one. They will not sell separately. Terrible company.

What Does My Storm Door Do.

WAKE FOREST, NORTH CAROLINA -- During the heat of summer (NC) the gap between my door and storm door is excessively HOT. The storm door traps the air. I am concerned the trapped heat will damage my door paint and possible my door. During the winter the opposite occurs. The trapped cold air is so cold I could probably freeze meat. I have a glass door. SO WHAT DOES THE ANDERSON STORM DO.

WIND LAKE, WISCONSIN -- I have a one year old Anderson 2500 series storm door. The door closer bracket that is attached to the door frame broke. It is a poorly designed part. When I called to get it replaced under warranty, I was told that I needed to purchase the part, because it was broken from misuse. It was not. After asking to talk to a supervisor, I was finally getting the part covered under warranty. I will never buy from Andersen again.

CRANFORD, NEW JERSEY -- Had two Emco Storm Doors installed. When we slide down the screen, it creeps up in both doors. I called support and was told to slide the screen up and down numerous times. I did that every so often for five days. Still creeps up. Support said they don't have technicians to send out and will mail me replacement parts. I am not a contractor and don't do that work and am 70 years old with health problems. Never again!

Poor Parts and Construction of a Storm Door

AVON, MASSACHUSETTS -- Purchased an Andersen 4000 door from Home Depot. Had it professionally installed. This was Nov. When spring came around, the plastic retainers snapped off and some broke. I called Andersen and they said they would replace one set. I replaced them and they broke the following fall. The door is fine but the retainers are junk and not worthy of purchase. The glass can fall out and that defeats the purpose of having the door. The screen weighs nothing. Andersen should replace these at no charge and improve the retainers completely.

PENNSYLVANIA -- Do not buy the EMCO line of doors. The plastic retainers are crap - they break, bend and are difficult to put in and take out. It takes 2 people - should be simple. I was told to use a hair dryer to make them "more pliable". Andersen should make them more pliable.
