GOLDSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA -- Bought and paid for a bedroom suite that had to be ordered. Delivery would be $99 so we decided to pick it up. We had to sign a form to inspect product before taking. Would be called when it came in. Waited more than a wk instead of a couple of days and no call. When we went to pick it up we had a trailer that we drove to the back. There were 2 stock guys in the back and the sales girl. I told them we needed to be sure furniture not damaged before we took it. Dresser was well packed in a cardboard box with styrofoam and wooden cross strips inside with Saran film wrapped around.

The guys did not seem to want to check things as it so packed but I insisted where I saw a hole in box. That was okay though as it was the bottom. Finally I said to the sales girl that with the packing as it was, everything should be okay. And I added that I knew the form was to protect Badcock from damage during drive home and would not apply to anything from the manufacturer.

When home and unpacking found that the packing wood had compressed a dent in the side of the top of the dresser. Took pics and called store and stopped unpacking. Manager not there but sales clerk said she'd tell her and to call back the next day. I was shocked at her discourteous tone with me. "My responsibility..." I signed the paper. When I tried to explain anything she continued to revert right back to that paper.

I am over 60 and have purchased many things over the years but never had contact with such a negative discourteous manager. This was my first and last experience with Badcock. She would not even order a replacement and call me when it came. "Bring it back first." Back and forth with heavy furniture, uncooperative employees, and I will say "mean" manager, plus not sure what else could happen.

I decided I'd rather keep the dented dresser and try to get it repaired than to step foot in her presence. I will continue to shop with Ashley Home Furniture store. Awesome to work with!!! Now I see all the other complaints. Is it Badcock and a failure to securing properly trained management????

ROME, GEORGIA -- I had been a customer of Badcock since 2008. Never ever being late on a payment. Purchased kitchen table, king bed, king mattress, 2 recliners, washer and dryer and a few odd and ends. I always stayed below my credit limit of 4,000.00. Always paid on time. They never not one time had to call me about a payment. I even drove 70 miles round trip back when they didn't take payments online just to make my payment.

Well I hadn't purchased anything in a while. After paying my last purchase off early I go into the Rome, GA store to purchase a new bed. Total was 2,800.00. Well below the 4,000.00 limit I had. Well guess what? They flat turned me down. Yep. Flat turned me down and my credit is not bad. Credit score 670-690. If they don't want my business that's up to them but it's pure principle. I paid their exorbitant prices. Always paying on time and even paying off early for approx. 5 years and now I'm not good enough for them.

To top it off it says on the front door and on their website "ALL CREDIT ACCEPTED" so I questioned corp about false advertisement. She told me that was for new customers. I was not a new customer so loyal customers don't matter to them. So if a new person came in with my exact credit profile and income they could get credit. This goes over my head.

GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA -- I scheduled a PICK UP on 11/25. The so-called store manager ASHLEY told me that they would close at 7pm and I had until 530pm to pick up. I sent someone to the location who arrived at 4pm to see that the store was closed. I called to let her know how upset I was about this and she basically tells me that they don't care. She now isn't the manager but "key holder"... whatever that is, then tells me that the real manager is willing to offer DELIVERY at no charge in 2 WEEKS... and called it complimentary.

I told her they needed to appease a customer who they have wronged and she said this is all they will do (COMPLIMENTARY for something I NEVER asked for??? AND IN 2 WEEKS???) OK. So I asked if her or her manager cared about losing a customer and she basically said no in a roundabout way so NO CUSTOMER IS VALUED HERE obviously. And furthermore, how unprofessional is it to close a store on a whim? Like it's a gas station or something... I'm so disgusted with these people. They would appease someone cursing them out and acting BLACK which I kept it professional when they are very disgusting.

OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA -- We purchased a sectional sofa and large footstool from Badcock furniture in Okeechobee, FL. The price was reasonable but we were told there would be no warranty on it. I guess because it was a floor display? Anyway the "no warranty" was most likely due to the fact that the items purchased were barely in the front door before they started disintegrating!!

We are a senior couple, with my husband's sister living with us, also a senior. No children, no undue stress on the sofa, etc., etc. We just sit on it!!! Everywhere our bodies have touched the sofa it is Flaking off. This is supposedly a leather sofa.

We would never, ever buy from this company again. I may be old but I ain't that stupid YET! On the upside we did purchase a bedroom suite for my sister-in-law living with us and so far, so good. This was before the sofa purchase, so no more buying from this company...

EUSTIS, FLORIDA -- I paid $600.00 for a lift chair. Got it home and on the side the wood frame was showing. They sent someone out and said they would replace it. It was faulty. Next, they said I had to pay $59.99 to have this picked up and get the new one or drop it off and get the new one. Wayne was rude and began to say maybe I damaged it, even when his worker said they could see the fabric has not been attached well.

He expects me to lift a chair that is 150 pounds on my truck with my 81-year-old mother. I used boards and gravity to slide this down with my 81 father, which is a bit more than lifting it. I have used this store and I see a change with the service. After many purchases this is my last.

I will also post this on the BBB site since nothing in my paperwork states this. So sad for 60.00 they won't make it right. Guess the motto "we'll make it right" is just fantasy. Maybe soon the new motto will be "We don't give a damn" with the items they sell. They don't care that I am out of gas and time for a product that was not done correctly.

LUTZ, FLORIDA -- On 2/22/15, I came in and bought a sofa that I had been looking at online. I was told that it was back ordered but that I could have delivery on the 19th of March, 2015. I was also told that someone would call me the day before with a 4-hour window. The sales associate told me that I would have to be responsible for taking out my old sofa because the $100 delivery charge did not include removal. I had my sofa picked up by salvation army a couple of days before by delivery date and have been sitting on the floor waiting for the 19th.

When I called the 1-800-Badcock number, "customer service" told me that she was going to call the store. I was put on hold and when she came back to the line, she told me that she would have to transfer me to delivery. Delivery told me that they had no record of me getting a sofa tomorrow and then transferred me to the store. The sales associate told me that my sofa was still back ordered and it would be another month before I can get it. When I explained that I have had 2 back surgeries and I was sitting on the floor, she responded, "Don't you have any other furniture?" She then told me that she had no resolution for me unless I had one to give her.

When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that this person was off today. The "Customer service" at this store sucks!!! Do not buy anything from them or you might be left sitting on the floor like I am. I also have company coming in from California next week and can't even offer them a place to sit.

CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Went to the store looking for a lift chair. No sales person appeared to help. Sat in 2 lift chairs trying them out. Still no salesperson. About 8 minutes went by and a woman finally stood up and walked a few feet from her counter and stood there all the way at the rear of the store and looked at me... did not speak until I told her why I was there. No smile? No "How can I help you?" Good person to be on walking dead. When I finally got up to the desk she was saying something to a man working there and he asked my hubby if we were having a bad day because my husband was not happy with the salesperson's lack of response.

Anyway, we did purchase a chair and it was delivered 3 hours later than we were told. I Sat in it for a few hours and it was very uncomfortable. So, the next day we went back and told the clerk we wanted to return it and get a refund. The chair will hopefully be picked up tomorrow. We are not getting back the 69.00 for the delivery that was only a block from the store. I never want to deal with this company again. Also, a screw fell out of the chair when it was moved slightly. Glad it is going back. I am 75 and never dealt with such poor customer relations before. Advice! Don't buy from this company!!!

BURLINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- Purchased a power lift chair for my 87-year-old senior citizen mother. When I delivered it to her nursing home the power transformer was not enclosed in the packaging. My mother's nursing home is 50 miles from the store and 20 miles from the distribution center. They refused to give me a power supply from the store or the distribution center. They have no common sense, accountability, or responsibility, all is put on the consumer. The consumer must unpack all furniture at the distribution center to inspect for damage and for all components. If the consumer doesn't then all defects and any missing components is the customers issue and not theirs.

By the way they refused to deliver as too far outside their delivery area. Who wants to unpack furniture at the warehouse and then risk damage during transportation which the customer immediately becomes responsible? Only option is return to the store, cannot return to distribution center where you pick it up or exchange at the distribution service but must return to the store. What pathetic policies. The franchise owner would only state “this is our policy and you have the right to complain anyway you want.”

After reviewing BBB complaints, ConsumerAffairs complaints and this sites complaints I have no idea how Badcock is still in business. I did return the furniture so now will see how long it takes to receive my refund check as they will not refund at the store. Fortunately for me it was my first and now the last purchase I will ever make from Badcock. Buyer beware.

FT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- I waited 4 days for delivery which they could not deliver any sooner than the time offered, there was no exact delivery time. Pretty much have to wait all day because they don't know, they delivered it and mounted it so carelessly. As this is a new bed I'm wondering why it feels sagging in the middle. When I looked under the bed I noticed they did not install the middle rod from the bed frame because it was not the correct size. They did not correct this issue. They left the wrong size under the bed. Now calling customer care I have to wait until tomorrow all day because they don't have an exact time.

ALBEMARLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- I have been a customer of Badcock for years. I have notice their underhanded sales tactics on more than one occasion. For instance I never want extended coverage but I always have to go back and ask them to take it off. This year I brought one speaker for one price ordered another. When I went to pick the speaker up the store tried to sell me the same speaker for $200 more saying that this speaker is a higher model than the one I already had. I call customer services and they tried to uphold the store they both was in on All they did was remove the logo sticker after about an hour I finally got the speaker for the same price as the other. I guess you say why are you doing Principle which they are struggles with T.
