Problems With Correctional Billing
By -

STILLWATER, MINNESOTA -- I have nothing but problems with Correctional Billing. I have talked to the Department of Corrections in Wisconsin and they do not like Correctional Billing either and their contract is almost up. So please everyone file complaints with the DOC in Wisconsin. I always went through my local carrier and now Correctional Billing has stuck their nose in and have blocked my phone. They say that I have set up 2 prepay accounts with them and I did not. I want it through my local carrier like it always before. I cannot get calls from my son now.

Everyone needs to file complaints. I filed with the Better Business and I filed with the PUC public utilities commission in Wisconsin and also with the PUC public utilities commission in Minnesota because I live in Minnesota and was told to file with both since my son is in Wisconsin. We need to get these people out. I also had a stupid rep from Correctional Billing call me on the phone and call me and swear at me. I am so mad and won't stop until something is done with this. Please everyone file the complaints in WISCONSIN.

Outrageous Charges

PASCAGOULA, MISSISSIPPI -- I am fed up with the outrageous charges that Correctional Billing Services charge inmates to make telephone calls. I believe that the amounts that they charges are too high and should be illegal. They are the ones that should be in jail. They charge almost $60.00 for three, ten minute phone calls. When you call to complain their attitude is that they don't care. I have had the same telephone number for over thirty years and they will not allow my son to call on this number even though I have near been late on paying my telephone bill.

YOU MUST PRE-PAY THROUGH THEIR SYSTEM, which sucks. I am also writing a complaint to the Public Service Commission as well as a complaint through my Congressman. They should be made to reduce the rates or face severe penalties.

No Written Policy on Line
By -

Correctional Billing Services does not have a policy for any of their representatives to follow by guidelines on the phone. Most of their decisions are made by each individual representative at that time answering your long wait on hold. I do believe they should be investigated or held responsible for each of their representative's answers and remarks.

There is not a CEO, a District Manager to talk to or for that matter to settle disputes the customer has. We are told to write or fax the customer complaint department. As most of us know, it is a long and unrelentless task to get a policy answer from this company. If anyone can direct us in having something done with this company, please advise.

Blocked Calling

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- I am also very upset that Correctional Billing is so poorly run. I sent money on my account on the 3rd of April and our family member still can't call. They changed their system of accounting or something and now the money I sent is somewhere else. It's been two weeks since he has been able to call and talk to his family. I have called three different times and they said it would be taken care of within 24 hours.

I was on hold for at least 30 minutes each time and when asked to talk to a supervisor, I was ignored. I wonder what kind of company this is. In my line of work, which is education, I would be fired and would have many many parents down my throat if I conducted myself the way they are. Does anyone know of any other company that has this kind of service? I'm fed up!

The Previous Entries on Bad Svc

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I was sorry to hear all the bad service people have received with their CBS service but I got to tell ya I'm in San Antonio and have been using them for about a month now and have not had ANY problems. My payments via cc have posted within a couple hours, I even made a Western Union payment today and it's already been posted and although I've had to wait on hold for longer than I've wanted, it's never been any worse than MANY other companies and/or the obnoxious "automated" services I've had to endure personally and professionally!

I'm not sure what office I deal with, the Western Union was through AL., but I say KUDOS to my guys and hope the other offices can follow their example!!! My daughter thanks you too. She's the one that depends on their service to speak with her family.

My experience with Correctional Billing Service
By -

I had read all of these reviews prior to calling CBS, and I admit I was more than skeptical about calling. However, I wanted to talk to my brother and this was my only option. The hold time was a bit long, but it's that way with almost any place anymore. They gave a website during my hold time, and I tried to access it, but it was unavailable.

Finally when the agent answered, I asked my questions and he explained everything in great detail. I also talked about the website not being accessible. He told me it must be down or something because he had just accessed it the day before. I thought he was lying because everyone on here said it was non-existent. Nonetheless, he asked me to try it again and it worked!

The call was pleasant and I felt very informed when I hung up. Maybe you guys need to realize they are people with a job to do and treat them with the same respect you want them to treat you with. Do I like paying $11 for a 15-minute phone call, nope, but my brother broke the law and ended up in prison. If I'm going to be mad at someone it should be him, not the c.s agent.

Ripping Off Families of Inmates
By -

Correctional Billing Services is requesting $8 charge plus money upfront in order to receive phone calls from family members that are incarcerated. This is an outrage! The correctional facilities are making money off families that are already in a financial mess. Inmates should be allowed to use calling cards that their families send them. We have rights! Don't let the system take advantage of you. Nassau County Correctional Facility in New York changed their telephone service this past week and did not notify any inmate or family member. Now families are unable to receive phone calls unless they sign up for this ripoff service!

Restrictions

DENVER, COLORADO -- In response to Sunnyice (or whatever). The website DOES NOT WORK!!! And I have called 18008446591 in regards to my phone being restricted. If I pay the same amount each time for a prepayment, I should get the same number of calls each time. One time I get about 3 less calls than normal. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

And I find it very rude to call with a restricted message after business hours right before the weekend so people are unable to contact the company. Even as far as making payments to clear a line, you restrict the line Friday after 5pm and customers are unable to do anything about it until the following Monday. BAD BUSINESS. And again the website does NOT work!

Prepaid Accounts
By -

WINSTON SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA -- I have a prepaid account with CBS, and last year they had to start charging taxes on prepaid. Well, when the phone call would come, and it would tell me how much it was...it wasn't matching up with what CBS was charging to my account. They told me it was because of the taxes that were being charged now. Here is my question... What kind of Rocket Scientist do they have to hire, to be able to add the taxes onto the price of the call? That way, I wouldn't have to call every day to see how much they put on my bill. I would know every 10 min. Call was the same.
