I read the varying reviews before buying, but I wanted to buy doors at Home Deport after an excellent experience purchasing kitchen cabinets and counter top there. Big mistake. I bought 2 Feather River exterior fiberglass doors and an Andersen storm door. Two of the three doors were OK. One of the Feather River doors came with a gouge. I agreed to its installation while new "slab" was ordered. This took over a month, and the replacement came with more gouges than the first. Obviously there is no inspection of the final product. I am still waiting for the next replacement.
TACOMA -- We purchased a Feather River Door with Sidelights believing that we were getting a well made beautiful unit. IT WAS A WASTE OF OUR TIME AND MONEY. After waiting 3 weeks for the unit we had it installed. We opened the door to see that it was delaminating and warped. It was a Sunday so we could only report it to Home Depot. A couple of hours after noticing this deformity, the sidelight that was being hit by the sun exploded and the glass shattered. Once again we reported to Home Depot.
On Monday Morning I called Feather River first thing. The customer service representative was RUDE, TOLD ME THAT IF I WANTED A QUICK SOLUTION I SHOULD CALL HOME DEPOT and ended up HANGING UP ON ME! I called back and left my name and number for a manager to call me back and never heard another thing from them. This was the worst $4000 that we have EVER spent. If you want a quality unit from a company that cares about its consumers do not purchase from Feather River. I will pass this along to as many people as I can!
TACOMA, WASHINGTON -- Purchased door from Home Depot 4 years ago @$4000, and $1000 installation cost. Door started to fade and crack within 2 years. Now 4 years later... pine wood jams splitting and rotting.. as well as center jam loose. After repeated attempts to get the Feather River warranty dept to honor the warranty... they refuse. Can't reach any of authority and they refuse to identify who the President or CEO to escalate my concerns and get the matter resolved.
INDIAN HEAD, MARYLAND -- Purchased the door in 2004-2005 from Home Depot and have had issues since. Of late, a Home Depot installer came out to investigate the issues, informed me that the door was not originally installed properly and showed why. Eventually the same door was reinstalled but I was informed that the oval glass, which had already slipped in the opening, would continue & I was told by Feather River it is "NOT" covered. BEWARE of Feather River!
We were forced by our condo association to pay over $1000 for this door. Within a year it started to peel. The time-consuming and costly "fixes" suggested by the manufacturer did not restore the door to an acceptable condition. Then after 2 years the exterior safety glass shattered for no reason and the cost to replace the glass is almost as much as the door. NEVER get this door!!!
So my wife and I decided to buy a feather river door unit. Thinking we were getting good quality unit. It turns out it was our worst investment. We've had problem after problem with the unit. We've also had two claims and nothing seems to take care of it. Oh and also the poor customer services I received from two employees Jan and Davina, they were no help to me. What a company.
DOWNINGTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA -- We ordered a new Feather River Front door from Home Depot. There have been several manufacturing and quality defects in the door and Home Depot and Feather River refuse to make the issues right or correct them. I would never buy another door from Feather River or Home Depot. There are lots of other good doors out there to put up with bad warranty and poor quality.
