Worst Customer Service / Nightmare
By -

I had Humana as a Medicare Supplement as of 01/01/2010 and cancelled it by calling them in December of 2010 to dis-enroll and cancel my automatic deduction from my SS check in December. A few days ago I got a letter from a collection agency that Humana is filing a collection against me for $465 because I had the insurance carry over in January. When me and my insurance agent had called to fix the problem they told us OK and it would be taken care of. It wasn't. When my agent called again 2 days ago they said I called to change my Credit Card information.

I never called them for anything except to cancel my policy and my SS deductions for January 1st, 2011. They never got a credit card from me at anytime so how would I change that if I had my premium deducted from my Social Security Check each month and if I did pay with a credit card why would they bill me for something that should have been paid for with said card? This is an ongoing battle with this company and no one seems to care or one person doesn't know what the other is doing.

THEY DON'T CARE. Like the person before me said, "if you are considering to buy "any kind" of Insurance from this company DON'T". They are the worst people to do business with and they just don't care about anything you have to say and if you prove your case they come back at you with another excuse. Customer service doesn't exist here. Stay away, far, far away from them unless you like to be treated like you're an idiot and you don't matter.

Humana Gold Medicare HMO Drug Changes In 2011
By -

There are good reviews of Humana Gold Medicare HMO mail order drugs from Right Source Rx. But wait! This is what happened to me and could happen to you too. I had been getting my eye drops for my glaucoma for no charge. Suddenly, when a new order was sent in on January 2011, I found $116 was taken out of my bank account for this drug. No warning whatsoever of this! I have a limited fixed income and this hurt. After several calls to Right Source to cancel, I was advised to wait until I received it and then call for permission to return it. IT WAS DENIED!!

Watch Out! Drug Formulary Changed 2011
By -

I urge all seniors who subscribe to any of the Humana HMO/PPO Medicare plans to quickly obtain a copy of the NEW drug formulary. Nearly all analgesics, especially Class II controlled substances have either been dropped altogether or raised to tier 2; the former $7 copay is now a $42 copay for the unsuspecting seniors on fixed budgets. Many other popularly prescribed medications for seniors have also been dropped.

There was ABSOLUTELY no warning of this. We found out when we attempted to fill our monthly prescriptions. There is no price break if you use their in house mail order pharmacy, "Right Source" either. And be very very careful that your prescription for inhalers is written with instructions to use up the canister each month; otherwise you will be charged a two or even three month charge for that single canister! It happened to us.

They even made me pay full charge for pre-operative lab work and the anesthesiologist's required ECG because they were done on an "outpatient basis" the week prior to hospital admission. NO MORE SURPRISES FOR US FROM THIS "FOR PROFIT" health insurance company established by a former US senator and his family. Next year we will NOT be with Humana again.

Don't Enroll in Humana CompBenefits
By -

I work for a company who offers Humana CompBenefits as dental insurance. With my policy, I needed to select a provider. I called Humana in April 2010 to select a location near to my home. At that time, Humana did not have the correct address for me, so choosing a location was difficult. They had me living in a town that I have never lived in.

Once I selected a provider, I began getting my dental care there and consequently receiving bills stating that Humana was covering nothing. I then made many phone calls to Humana speaking with many different "customer service specialists" who told me that they could not help me because selecting a provider now would not take effect for a month and a half and they would not make that provider coverage retroactive. I asked to speak to supervisors, was hung up on, or was left on hold for long periods of time (I was on hold once for 16 minutes). I finally got the opportunity to leave a message for a supervisor and requested a call back. No supervisor has yet returned my call.

It is now September and I finally reached a decent customer service agent who checked with her supervisor and made my dental provider active since May 1st, thus covering my services there. I feel that I was misled by Humana. I would not recommend this insurance provider. They don't cover much anyway, but being lied to, hung up on, and left on hold is not acceptable.

Humana One are liars and cheats
By -

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY -- I bought health insurance with HumanaOne. Days later, a serious problem was detected in my lower back. I called and Humana said my surgery was covered. My surgeon called and was told it was covered. The hospital called and HumanaOne told them it was covered. I had the surgery. Now they have decided that I am not covered, and I owe $22,000. I am unemployed and have been for twenty months. Humana lied and cheated me badly.

They refuse to tell me how to appeal this decision or to provide any guidelines for doing so. They refuse to tell me who made this decision, and they hang up on me when I ask. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE WORST OF THE WORST. PURE EVIL SCUMBAGS. I beg you to not have anything to do with Humana health insurance. They will screw you because they screw everyone. They are unfair liars and cheats.

Next Time Make Sure You Go To The Right Hospital
By -

Last month I had an allergic reaction and fortunately the friend that I was with me was able to call 911 and get me to the hospital. To expound on the seriousness, I my blood pressure was 40/20 when I arrived and they didn't think that I would make it. The bills started coming in and I knew I had a large deductible but one of the things they didn't tell me and I have look through my paperwork and still can't find it, I have 2 deductibles, in network for 5k and out of network for 10k.

Well to get to the point. No ONE except for my regular doctor is in Humana's plan. The lady I talked to today said I should have gone to a different hospital. We only have one hospital in my town. I guess my friend should have looked at my Humana card to see where I could go.

Also, Humana determines how much they are going to put towards my deductible. My ambulance was over 800.00 which Humana doesn't cover so I paid it, they only credited me with 319.00 because that is the max they will approve. The ambulance isn't in the network so that deductible goes outside the network, so actually my deductible just went to 15k or more. The Emergency Room is in the network but the doctors that were working are not so they aren't covered. I am paying EVERYTHING out of pocket. I might as well not have any insurance. Humana spends a lot of money making great commercials but they sure don't take care of their subscribers.

HumanaOne Negative Review
By -

HumanaOne is a horrible company. I recently lost insurance through work and saw their commercials on TV that seemed to be specifically targeted to people needing individual coverage due to lose of job coverage. I was provided with the worse telephone customer service I have ever had to deal with. The employees are rude - they do not know the first thing about customer service. They continuously told me that they would have a decision for me by the end of the week on my application and every week I would call and they would not have a decision.

I called for about 3 months. They never called me - I always had to call them to find out they needed me to send in more paperwork, and when I called, I was always given rude customer service. The customer service agents were either rude or clueless. After 3 months of waiting for them to make a decision, they denied my claim. I am a healthy 20-something female and they denied me because of a minor allergy.

I cannot imagine what an older person with pre-existing conditions has to go through to get insurance. Do not apply for HumanaOne. This was the biggest waste of time I have ever spent on anything! They may be a little cheaper than other companies, but it is not worth it!

Non-Payment of Pre-Approved Surgery
By -

I guess when you get pre-approval from Humana for a surgery their intention is they approve for you to have surgery but they are not pre-approving payment for the surgery. They have held payment based on not having medical history on file. Now is that something you do after you have approved payment of before? I think that should have been before. Then they deny my surgical nurse claim stating I did not have coverage at the time of surgery. The surgical nurse was the one that contacted Humana for pre-approvals before I had surgery, so give me a break!

I have spent the past 10 months trying doing everything they have requested and although they have not denied my claims they are continually finding excuses to not pay them that cost me my good credit, time, and patience. If I would have known they were not going to cover the procedure and cause me so much stress and time after they approved it I would not have had the surgery.

So to all of you considering Humana, don't, find a good company to cover you. My insurance agent signed me up with Humana thinking I hardly use medical insurance, and Humana was cheaper than the insurance I had at the time. Well you get what you pay for, lesson learned the hard way. Pay a little more to have a good insurance company, do not buy into Humana's cheap policy because you will not get good service when you need them the most.

Humana One Is a Rip-Off
By -

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE -- I feel it is my duty to tell of the gross incompetent and deceitful nature of the Humana One. My first claim was while I was out of town in California - I called the 1-800 number and was given 3 doctors I could see. The first one was an emergency care in a Longs Drug store and had been closed for months - the other was in another town 45 minutes away - when I got there I was told they would not see me they were not seeing any new patients. The next office was now over 1 hour away I had given up hope considering I was in a taxi.

Then I was going to have my physical - ALL of the doctors on the Humana One site did not take Humana One anymore - So I called the customer service and had them find me a doctor. They found one 45 minutes away - and so I go - only to find out that a pap smear is not covered. So I have to pay 250.00 for a women's wellness exam. It was something I asked about when I signed up for my coverage - please be aware that they have not paid for any of my 2 doctors visits - so I paid 2,000 for insurance that has cost me over 400 in doctors charges - I shudder to think what would have happened if I had a medical emergency that was very expensive.
