CLEVELAND, OHIO -- This is the most immoral situation I have ever encountered. I overdrafted my account by 53 cent by using my debit card. Key accessed $39.00 for this and another $39.00 after it cleared. According to a KeyBank supervisor, I was charged as the debit pended and when it cleared. I have been a customer of theirs for 30 years!!! Of course I complained and was refunded only to get ANOTHER $39.00 fee because I then deposited a check and withdrew some cash (well within what was immediately available).
But wait, because my two prior overdrafts were credited to me in a way that was advantageous to Key, they decided to hit me again and tell me basically, "we already went well above what we could have done for you". All of this from the pitbull manager ** ext **. If she comes on the line just hang up and get someone else... She is the type that "likes" authority or at least of pitiful attempt at have some!
We had 27$ in the bank. That day our paycheck went to the bank via direct deposit. We checked to make sure it was received because we were getting so low on funds. We bought food that night for $8. The next day we made a $70 purchase and a $13 purchase. The next week we looked at our account again and discovered 2 $32 overdraft charges and a $37 overdraft charge. We were told that they didn't process the direct deposit until 4 days later! They also FIRST processed the $70 and the $13 purchase made the DAY AFTER our paycheck was deposited, then the food we bought the day of the deposit, then our paycheck.
When talking to them, all they would tell us was that was the way they did things. We went that day to close our account. After we closed one checking account, we discovered they charged us a $25 fee for closing our account in less than 6 months. We told them if there was a fee, we didn't want to close the account. We would leave a penny in to keep the account open until the 6 months was up. We were told it was too late. They already processed the account closing and charged us the fee.
OREGON -- KeyBank policy is to apply transaction as they come in, even Saturday after 6 pm and Sunday. KeyBank will charge overdraft fee, what ever I did deposit cash to the cashier on Monday morning. And they pending my deposit on Saturday until Monday. So all transaction on weekend will get charge overdraft. This way the KeyBank make money. I still save the copy transaction. The Economy is crisis, why try to take advantage on weekend. Ridiculous. Only KeyBank policy, not another bank. Do not trust this bank. Your money will gone by KeyBank policy / overdraft.
Just wanted to share my two cents. I cannot stand KeyBank! I will be quitting this bank and all the hassles that come with it asap! I've had a lot of the same problems as you other posters...The bank messing with my account from bank errors, not depositing and posting a transfer to my checking account, and only posting it after I have made several transactions thus resulting in numerous overdrafts.
I purchased an Xbox a week ago and because of their sleazy, profit-seeking procedures they posted it late, and I had to deal with a butt load of overdrafts! I drilled the customer relations manager at my local branch and only got half of $300 in fees taken off! Because I have to pay for you ** up!??!! Can't wait to transfer all my payments, direct deposit and other bills to a new bank! Also, how many of you have tried more localized banks and not huge corporations? What has been your experience with them? That's what I'm going to do so fingers crossed!
CLACKAMAS, OREGON -- I got into a financial slump last December after a family member screwed me over. The main consequence of the slump is that my account got overdrawn by about $300 from extra bills. After all the overdraft fees piled up from purchases I had to make to live, I was over $1000 in the hole. After explaining the situation to a manager, they handed me a register and told me to pay attention to my account. Now, three months later I'm still a paycheck behind because those ** wouldn't work with me an inch on all the piled up fees, even though they're the ONLY thing keeping me behind.
ALBANY, OREGON -- I have had money stolen from KeyBank for the last time as well. I deposited a check for over 1800$ in my account on Monday with over 1600 already in the bank. I understand the difference between an available balance and a current balance. Tuesday morning Key online banking showed the check had cleared and I had about 3500 in my account.
From that point 6 items came into my account. One for 2100 dollars, the remaining all under $100. Three days later I had accumulated over $250.00 dollars in overdraft charges, though even by their records my account was never overdrawn. They also refused to take off any overdraft fees. KeyBank steals from their customers!!!
I've had my account for two months. Somehow, and I really can't see how it has happened, my account went into overdraft. I now have 8! overdraft charges. Now I'm a person who has used Quicken for as long as it has existed - and I keep track of EVERYTHING! I'm still trying to figure out how it happened, but reading all the other reviews on this site makes me ever more sure that there is a fraudulent practice in place. One I know is that a customer rep said to me is that what I see online is not what is actually what the bank sees.! Huh? Do not ever open an account at this bank.
