Bad Meat Again!!!
By -

Several time I have purchased bad ground beef from Kroger. I stopped buying ground beef and started using ground turkey because I had so many bad experiences with beef. Recently, I purchased some pork chops on my way home, at a store that was not in my neighborhood. We got home and as I was putting up the groceries a rancid smell hit me. I picked up the pork chops and you could smell them through the plastic wrap.

I took my receipt and the meat to my neighborhood Kroger. The person at the customer service center call the manager who proceeded to tell me that I should take the meat back to the Kroger where I purchased it. I said that's across town and I am not driving all the way over there with this rotten meat in my car. She said she would handle it this time but gave me the speech on how her store was taking the loss for another store.

I feel that as a chain store, you should be able to go to any Kroger to return a bad product. What if the product was purchased in another city? With today's technology you should be able to key in from which store the product was purchased. I had my receipt with me so it shouldn't have been a problem. I also noted the addition of the up to 12% solution added to the meat recently and have decided I will not be buying much meat at Kroger in the future. Their product quality is going down and so is their customer service.

Horrible Meat!! Water Added to Increase Weight Also!
By -

ACWORTH, GEORGIA -- Several times now I have had to return a meat product to Kroger because when I arrived home and opened it, it was BAD! The smell was awful! In one case, the butcher was nice enough to replace the salmon that I had bought with fresh salmon (a LOT of it) directly from their ice display in front (originally, she asked for me to take the pre-packaged meat on sale). Well, the salmon in the display was bad too! I had to go to another store at the last minute for meat for a dinner party!

And to top that off, my husband and I have noticed that Kroger has started to add water (they call it a "Flavoring Solution") to their meat! The packaging says that it accounts for 12 to 15% of the product weight! I'm not paying for water and salt! It also gives the meat a rubbery consistency! We will NOT buy meat from Kroger anymore, no matter how cheap it is. They should be ashamed for taking advantage of their customers in this way!

Check Writing Embarrassments
By -

STONE MOUNTAIN, GEORGIA -- I went to Kroger Store in my community and for the second time my check was denied. I check with my bank to what was wrong with my checking account and was told I had more than enough to cash a check for my purchase. Last night I needed to buy food for my sick son and again my check was denied. The register stated Invalid check. After much discussion with the manager it was told to me my checks had the check number in the beginning of my checks instead of the end where the routing number and account number is.

I have written thousands of checks to many companies and never had this problem. I ask them to see if any check may have been returned that I didn't know about and they said no checks had been returned. This is the second time this happened to me and it is most embarrassing. I had a basket full of groceries and left it right there for them to put back.

CO SPRINGS, COLORADO -- I was just told by the West Uintah Co Springs Co Kroger - King Sooper Starbucks manager that older people are more likely prone to be violent than younger people - I had just related discomfort with a person in the store who has done some very unacceptable behavior at my apt building. This manager and an employee were just leaning on the counters swapping stories when I asked for water and related my feelings.

The attitude was we don't have time to listen - there were no others in line. Well, I am past 70 yrs old now and took the manager's remark as a personal insult - I ask myself why do I put up with that?!!! Is there a more polite place I can go for a table and pleasant environment??? How about Wendy's folks!

Krogers Is Adding Water A Lot To Their Beef

DALTON, GEORGIA -- A few years ago I purchased a large package of what was supposed to be quality ground Chuck at Krogers and when I opened the package up and removed the meat, there was a "Red Plastic wrapper" that had been cut in half and you couldn't see the package until you turned the meat over. This was a package of the cheapest ground beef that you can buy cut in half. Krogers meat dept had forgotten to throw the wrapper away before repacking it in their own meat dept wrapper and was selling it for quality Ground Chuck!! I swore that I would never buy meat from them again.

Well, this weekend, I broke my rule and bought an expensive SIRLOIN TIP ROAST from them. It weighed 4 lb and when it was cooked in the crock pot for about 4 hrs, it had already shrunk to about 2 lb!! THEY HAVE GOT TO BE ADDING A TON OF WATER TO THEIR MEAT and this time, I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN!!!

HENDERSON, NEVADA -- 3 months ago I asked a store manager to add a product to the store. He refused so I contacted a local dist manager. He said he would look into it **. He worked through a Regional Brand Manager ** who told me after 3 month they would get me some product only to lose it in a warehouse. He refused my calls for over a week and then insulted me. I also consulted Kroger's customer service # only to also leave frustrated at how poorly trained they are in customer service issues. By the way the product I asked added is a product that is Kroger owned. Seems like a no brainer!

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN -- If you can smell fish when you walk into this store, it's not a good sign. Because of this I choose not to purchase any meat at any Kroger. Why is this store always dirty? Every time weather it's day or night, the floors are dirty, and there's always inventory in boxes sticking out in the isles, loose items stock piled in carts waiting to be put away, always! It seems to be getting worse.

I never saw this when it was Farmer Jack. It's only out of convenience, that I come to this store for milk usually, however I am more happy to shop else where, now that I have found a better place to shop and it is not as convenient, but its clean, and it does not smell like old rotting fish.

Kroger Manager Does Not Support Our Troops

ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- As a veteran I have bought nutrition bars at Kroger for our overseas troops for several years. My purchases generally include one hundred or more of a specific brand. The store managers who work the day shift know me and approve my large quantity purchases. I recently decided to go earlier in the morning to make my purchases. The night manager at the Arlington, Texas Lamar store (not a real smart guy) implied I was a liar when I told him I was purchasing the bars for my veteran's group. Having spent over $50,000 at Kroger over the last several years this was the last straw. I was one of Kroger's best customers until this dummy ended it.

Selling Old Food

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Mall these happened from my last purchase 7.6.13. I have been buying in this neighborhood grocery for a long while now but the rotten orange juices (supposedly unexpired and new) were totally a waste of money. I thought the rest of the stuff that we got are OK but guess again unfortunately this chicken with rice branded but the cheapest brand went on sale but unlike the ones that I used to buy, it was totally smelling rotten as well. Lastly, the supposedly fresh fruit bowl worth $17.00 also had fermenting fruits with it. It's totally sad how they try to make money without considering the buyers' health.

I've been feeling real sick after my LBM of just a single sip of that juice. I don't or ever have any intention of damaging the grocery giant because they've been fairly doing well before but I don't know maybe it's just the branch or the employees that are being careless. I have not managed to return the products or to complain about it but I'm all ready scared of buying there again. Sometimes there are tactics done for profit that will eventually make things worse for them in the end.

Also, the employees look like they can't stand what they're doing but really I think it's Just this branch. I'm not one who complains about things around me but for all those things happening at one time is indeed a sad thing to hear about the good name that they've established for a long time.

Daytona 500 Savings Home Downloading Is Not. Convenient

VA. BEACH, VIRGINIA -- Kroger Grocery Stores have changed their Daytona 500 coupon used to require that you go online and enter the coupons you wish to use prior to visiting the store. I went in to the Providence Road Store in Va Beach Va and told the manager I wanted to get the advertised discounts from my Sunday paper ad. She said I needed to return home (2 Miles), start my PC, go to the store website, select Daytona 500 ads, select each individual coupon I wanted to use on the Daytona 500 ads pages, enter my card number, Shut down my PC, return to the store (2 miles) and they would process these when I check out.

I asked if there was any way they could be entered at the store since I was there and ready to buy some of these products. Her answer "No there is not". Now that's service and an easy way to entice me to come regularly! I pass two other large chain stores to get there that are a mile closer to my home. Two weeks prior these coupons were automatically applied at the register at checkout.

Their ads now say "FAST TRACK TO SAVING". My "DAYTONA 500 FAST TRACK SAVINGS" was about to be the DAYTONA 508 NON -SAVINGS. Thanks Kroger for complicating my shopping experience and letting me know my how valuable my time and traveling expenses are to your CORPORATION. HAPPY YEAR IN PROFITS TO YOU. My only hope for you is that you can cry "THE DAYTONA 500 MADE US DO IT". If your advertising execs came up with improved user non-friendly promotion you are in trouble. Good-bye Kroger There are closer stores than you.
