Service Loop
By -

The ice maker leaks and does not work. It displays Er 1F, so this is not an unknown error. We are in our 6th month of trying to get it fixed or replaced. Horrible experience with LG "service". The first service company was inept, the second was at least polite. Both got in a "parts" loop where the wrong part or incomplete parts have been sent. Both have quit the problem and referred us back to LG service.

The ASC Admin Account Representative for MA and PA promised us quick resolution. We did not hear back from her and after more email, we eventually got this note: "for this you need to contact customer service. I deal directly with service centers only and their account issues. The number for customer service is 800-243-0000". Right back in the 800 number loop!!! Horrible company to deal with!!

LG shouldn't be in the refrigerator manuf. market

Bought this fridge. First stainless steel (SS) appliance for us. Didn't seal well so THEY fixed by beefing up the door seals. Since approx six months after purchase the so called SS is rusting on the bottom freezer door. And this week just noticed a rust spot above eye level on the left frig door. I can't use SS cleaner on it as it just runs off no matter how I apply it. I was sold a lemon. Now the doors are having a problem shutting all the way and our ice maker door froze shut because of the melting and freezing.

I want rid of this piece of junk, I emailed them and they gave me a number to call and I did. A message was taken by them and they were to see what they can do, as of this date must be they can't do anything. I now have a $2300 boat anchor.

LG Refrigerators and Microwave
By -

First, our refrigerator needed a repair for the freezer heater just after the warranty expired. It took over a week for the part to come in and the repair made. Our microwave has had the power unit replaced 2 times since the original purchase. The first time also just out of the warranty period. The unit now has a loud intermittent vibration during operation that cannot be located. In discussing this problem with LG customer service supervisors, I get lots of lip service but they will not doing anything about the problems. I have never had such poor quality in both the products and the nature of their customer support. DON'T BUY LG. Life is Good for them but not us.

A solution to broken LG ice maker!!
By -

My ice maker in this refrigerator stopped suddenly 4 months ago after owning for 2 years without issue. I looked on the internet and found many complaints about this same issue. I have tried and failed to get LG to fix this as this is clearly a manufacturing defect. I found an actual solution at **. The solution by ocean33 worked with ice being made in less than 24 hours! The posted solution shows photos of where to make a hole and I had my husband drill a small hole and it worked! The hole can't be seen unless you look there and since the cost of fixing would have been outrageous for an already expensive fridge, I figured we should take the chance and so glad we did!!

LG Refrigerator

ENGLEWOODCLIFFS, NEW JERSEY -- My fridge is rusting through from what I feel was improper prepping of the steel before painting. I found out there is no one in my service area to look at this. 2 1/2 years ago when I purchased the refrigerator we also purchased a microwave and dishwasher. One week ago we bought LG washer and dryer steam top of the line. The only major appliance not LG is our range. Since speaking to ** and his manager ** who basically said they will do nothing about this since it is out of warranty.

I feel that no appliance should rust at 2 1/2 years with no damage causing this. You'll be hearing from me more as I advertise your product. My friends, family and anyone that wants to listen on the net will be a more informed shopper. Dissatisfied.

LG - Life Good for LG but not consumer of their product
By -

We were given a gift of refrigerator by our parents back in 2006. I had heard LG had good products (must have been TV's), and we picked out unit. Worked fine first year but shortly after the ice dispenser stopped working. Later water quit dispensing. We contacted local tech. He has been coming out since October of 08 trying to repair. He has made 5 different trips. He called and talked to their LG techs for help. We replaced several parts, some of which took 2 months to get. Keep in mind this unit is only 3 years old.

They have just recently decided we have faulty unit and that it is no longer under warranty so they are offering next to nothing as any compensation. What they are offering would basically go to the gentleman that worked on our unit. I have no complaints with him as he tried what he was told from their techs.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING LG AT ALL COST. Units that cost what these do should last much longer. I know my parents unit lasted over 20 years as did grandparents. LG may act as good company in ads, but don't be fooled. QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING TO THEM. I am sending emails to everyone I know about this company.

LG French Door Refrigerator -- Defective Ice Maker
By -

ROGERS, ARKANSAS -- I received a letter on 2/15/09 from LG indicating my French door refrigerator purchased in November, 2007 needed to be modified in order to comply with Dept of Energy (DOE) guidelines for the Energy Star rating. Apparently, the energy usage for this model is higher than indicated by LG. When I called to follow-up on when the modification would occur, I also informed LG that the ice maker no longer worked and was assured the "modification" scheduled would take care of this problem. Much to my surprise, the appliance tech advised that the circuit board is the only item being replaced to comply with Energy Star guidelines and had nothing to do with the ice maker!

In addition, he admitted that "LG got a hold of some bad ice makers". When I called to complain to LG about the defective ice maker, I was told since I didn't purchase the "extended warranty", I was responsible for the cost of a new ice maker ($220). LG customer service is horrible! I would NOT recommend purchasing this product since the company fails to stand by their product.

Refrigerator Is Poorly Made Of Flimsy Plastic
By -

SAN DIEGO, 92130 CA, CALIFORNIA -- WE purchased a French Door style LG refrigerator from Home Depot on 9/4/06 - my husband was drawn in by the low price. The inner components looked cheap to me, and I was right. I was also wary of a company from Korea that I had never heard of.

Within about 9 months the two center optibin crisper drawers collapsed due to insufficient support. The drawers are supported on tracks below an upper shelf that is made of a thin plastic frame with a glass shelf. The drawers do not have a support between them to support them properly. This is a DESIGN FLAW, and cannot be corrected. One of the plastic drawer flaps snapped off because the plastic is so thin and the drawer does not operate properly because the drawers sag. I have to push up on the drawer with one hand as I pull it to get it to pull out. Also, the "faux" stainless steel door pulls are cheap and scratch easily.

I have called and emailed LG about this and they have given me the runaround. I faxed them my purchase invoice twice and they said they did not get it yet, after 5 days. It appears to me that they are not set-up properly to do business in the USA. They did not return my first call, and now I have resorted to numerous emails to try to get a response and to get my money back ($1500.00). I do not want a replacement refrigerator from LG. I will never buy any appliance from LG again. Not worth the money.

Very Poor Quality And Bad Customer Service
By -

MISSISSAUGA -- Hope people will read this reviews before buying LG products. I purchased the 3 door stainless steel refrigerator bottom freezer and the inside plastic around the shelves and drawers started slowly to break and crumble in pieces. The plastic is of a very poor quality and company doesn't care. They have inexperienced employees that can't actually understand what you are talking about, and this is because of the poor English level. Hope more people will read the reviews and NOT BUY their product because is a VERY POOR QUALITY PRODUCT made cheap and sold for big bucks.

Refrigerator is Junk
By -

In June 2008 I purchased this fridge and in March of 2011 the main circuit board died. The repairs cost me $359.64, $50.00 of this bill was for a service call. When I talked to the LG people earlier, I was told they would send one of their service men and that their service call would be $100.00. You can bet that I will never have another LG product and that I will tell everyone to stay away from this trash.
