Horrible Customer Service and Blatant Lies!
By -

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA -- We bought wood flooring from Lumber Liquidators in September 2011. It was a big order for most of the floors in our house (1800 sq ft). We were told at the time that it would take 2 weeks to be shipped in, maybe 3 weeks at the most. I scheduled a contractor to do the work 1 month out barring any other delays. At 4 weeks when I had not heard anything, I called the store. I was told someone would get back to me. At 5 weeks when I hadn't gotten a phone call, I called again and was told someone would check on the order.

At 6 weeks I was told by a manager that someone had spoken to me several times telling me that the wood was going to take SEVEN weeks to arrive and that they told me the date when we ordered the flooring. The manager went on to say that they sent an Email a month earlier confirming the shipping date. I never received an Email and IF someone had said the flooring would be in at 7 weeks, I would have either gone to another company or scheduled the installation accordingly.

The liars stuck to their story though without apology or any sympathy since we lost the contractor who was going to do the job thanks to the delay in our order. PITIFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE! Refund in process.

BRAINTREE MASSACHUSETTS, MASSACHUSETTS -- I bought 16,000 dollars of hardwood flooring from Lumber Liquidators, what a joke. Within a month scratches and dents all over my hardwood floors. From 1965 were in better shape after 47 yrs. I should have just thrown the money out the window. I bought the high end flooring. How are they still around? Don't even bother with them unless you like throwing hard earned money away. What a joke of a business.

Lumber Liquidators Flooring Cracking After 4 Months
By -

TOANA, VIRGINIA -- Lumber Liquidators refused any remedy for our claim, citing our cracked floor boards as an "environmental problem." This is a catch-all excuse that effectively makes any 25-year Warranty worthless. We have read the 11-page Flooring 101 pdf offered by Lumber Liquidators, and our site preparation, installation, and environment conform(ed) properly in every way. We do not trust Lumber Liquidators to stand behind its product, therefore we will never deal with them again. We will never buy stock in Lumber Liquidators, either.

Company Response 02/07/2011:

LL warranty is clear in regards to what is, and what is not covered. The warranty is a finish warranty and cracks are not included as a covered item as written in the warranty and installation instructions. Installing the product as required does not mean the interior was properly regulated in regards to temperature and relative humidity. Regardless of where you buy flooring, this issue will surface if not properly maintained. These issues are out of our direct control and we regret to hear you have cracked boards. You can remedy the problem with board replacement and ongoing regulation.

Flooring Installation

PACHECO, CALIFORNIA -- The installer that was assigned to me by the store has done a terrible job installing 1,200 sq. ft. of wood flooring in a single story home. Gaps at almost every seam that the installer has tried to fill with a putty.

Do Not Purchase From Lumber Liquidators
By -

The flooring they sold us was severely and obviously warped. They used the same line on us as the poster below that the humidity in Arizona was the problem not their defective product. If that were the case, they may want to reconsider having a store in the state. There was obvious warping immediately, which we raised as soon as the floor was installed. They refused to do anything to solve the problem. This is nothing short of theft. Stay away.

I ordered some flooring from Lumber Liquidators almost two months ago. Every time I call the store or the main number I get the run around. I've been told it will be at my local store on certain dates only to be let down again and again. I want to cancel my order but have already matched half the house to the specific colors I ordered.

Company Response 09/16/2010:

Order Status has been reinstated online after a rather complex warehouse change that was made to help further our business providing improved logistics, and order status information. We know the transition has caused some customers with orders placed during the transition to become frustrated and we sincerely apologize for any delays. Go online, or call the Call Center and we will assist you. We're working hard to serve every order already transitioned, and we know you'll be happy with your product once your projects completed. The next time you shop with us you can be assured it will be a much better experience and we thank you for your patience and dedication.

Personnel issues

The number one complaint I hear from customers is about damage flooring product that they had received, this can be attributed to the fact their forklift operators are not fully trained or not properly certified they do cut corners regarding loading and unloading wood product. This company does not properly background check its employees, and that's where this problem starts, workers with a poor work habit are kept on the payroll instead of being retrained or fired. I was a former employee, and have seen this all from the inside.

Company Response 08/02/2010:

One thing about America, we're all entitled to freedom of speech and this type of comment can be expected from a disgruntled former employee.

LL does perform background checks, reference checks, and also performs drug testing as part of our requirements for employment among other things. Based on the amount of flooring we stock, sell, and transport, there's going to be some degree of material waste stemming from the handling process.

As someone who knows what the number one complaint truly is, it has nothing to do with product damage.

If you have a complaint about LL, maybe you should contact someone in HR for assistance. The general public is not the place to vent your personal frustrations with employment related issues as we all work hard to serve our customers and what you've stated is your own opinion not shared by others who work here. You may want to look employment related sites as a better use of your time.
