Beware Giving Checking Acct Info

HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK -- Our family signed up with PF when they were having a 99.00 special. Signed FOUR memberships. Today we went in to renew the membership. WE DID NOT ASK FOR A SPECIAL OR DISCOUNT. We wanted to sign up for the 10.00 per month deal, which is 10.00 for 12 months plus 29.99 annual fee for a total of 149.00 per person. So we wanted to PAY IN FULL for the 4 members. PF REFUSED. They will not allow us to prepay. THEY DEMAND OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT INFORMATION. Why? Why are they refusing to accept 600.00 up front? We even checked with the Corporate office to ask if this was correct and they stated it is company policy.

Well, based on everyone else's comments, I guess it is because they plan on playing games at the end of the membership. What business would turn down being paid up front??? Right away SCREAMS SCAM. Everyone should beware of giving a company with these kind of sketchy policies such powerful information such as your checking account number. Good luck. They just lost a family of four.

Planet Fitness Will Sic Cops on You

CANTON, MICHIGAN -- PLANET FITNESS CANTON WILL: SIC COPS ON MEMBERS€. Planet Fitness of Canton sent the cops after me because of a credit card snafu, where Planet Fitness screwed up and said I owed $20.00, and from what everybody knows, the monthly bill is only $10.00.

In the morning of June 18, 2013, I came into the facility, provided my identity code, and like always, stowed my gym bag in the locker room and went back to work out after having driven a couple miles to do so. One of your clerks said I had to leave the facility because I owed $20.00, even though the Membership Dues are $10.00. I told her I felt it was probably just a "€œcredit card snafu"€, that if she would call Corporate, I am sure we could work it out. She requested I leave and I said "no, let'€™s just work it out."

Instead of working it out, some minutes later she approached me again and said I would have to leave. I again reiterated that it is probably nothing more than a credit card matter and that I have been paying regularly since day one. She asked me to leave and I said no because I just wanted to finish my work out. I again told her to get a hold of corporate so we could work it out.

I don'€™t know if she called Corporate, but SHE CALLED THE CANTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ON ME. Although the police officer acknowledged that it was just a civil matter, at the Officer'€™s request, I did grab my gym back to exit. Upon leaving, I gave the clerk a different phone number to contact me so that it could be worked out. I went home, showered and changed instead of doing so at the facility, and then dropped back at Planet Fitness on my way to work. It was at that time that I advised Clerk that I had been paying regularly and showed her my last two credit card statements for April and May in which payments were made at about the 18th of the month.

Upon arriving at work, I checked with my credit card company and was advised because it had been subjected to breach of security, it was only good for an additional year and was still being utilized by Planet Fitness. Apparently when the year expired, the last credit card payment was rejected because of this "snafu"€. The clerk had told me that the amount due was $20.00, even though it is a monthly fee of $10.00. I immediately reinstated my membership through another credit card, and therefore, resolved what I thought was from the very beginning a "€œcredit card snafu."

Subsequent to arriving at work, I received a call in which Planet Fitness Canton voided my credit card payment. A woman from Planet Fitness claimed that they had to call the police, which I believe to be totally untrue, extremely overreacting by the company, inappropriate, and rather laughable that you would "sic cops on members"€ because of a minor credit card dispute. It was embarrassing because friends and neighbors were in attendance at the time all of this occurred. Instead of working this matter out with a long term member, Planet Fitness chose to disregard good customer relations and "sic the cops on a member!"

HOPKINSVILLE, KENTUCKY -- TERRIBLE SERVICE..... For over 2 years me and my daughter have been going to this location 3-5 days a week.... EVERY DAY we see policy violations, rule violations and rude employees. I have spoke to every manager in these 2 years and today with the Regional Manager... ALL have stated that they can and will do NOTHING about the weight slamming, animal grunting and any other element they state they protect against..... After complaining to local staff today...CONNER, part time employee, advised me to stop harassing employees and he can just cancel my membership if I did not stop.... HARASSING!!!! Asking you to do your job shant be considered harassment...... After spending 30 minutes on the phone with Corporate staff they even advised that there is NOTHING they can or will do about this issue.............. SOOOOOO as the story goes with so many business these days you must complain with your wallet....... I AM OUT!!!!!!!!!! you will NEVER get another dollar from me and I will do everything in my power to sway others from joining your system......... but I should have known this was to be the outcome of dealing with a group of overly sensitive inept millennials...

STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT -- We didn't go for a year. No emails nor attempts to contact for customer satisfaction/service. We'll take the almost $50 per month for 12 month hit, our problem. HOWEVER the annual $83 came without notice! You will not be notified before your annual dues are auto drafted from your bank account! The manager stated that they always get these calls thus corporate is willingly & sneakily silent with such complaints being the norm! HEAR YOUR CUSTOMERS THEN ACT ACCORDINGLY! That being said, I can't continue business nor ever recommend this gym. We're their cash cows, not customers. Their practice is shameful at best.

STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA -- I'm trying to get information about a membership and I can't even get these people to email me back. Not only do you have to email your local club with questions, when you dig deeper into the site they offer a “higher” customer service to contact. When you click on it, it takes you to the same email form for your local club. So I sent an email through there a week later in case they claim their email didn't work. Here we are 2 weeks later and nadda!

Even their website is an atrocity. On their home page, they make the $10/month offer but the number one is actually the capital letter “I”. If their lack of detail is that bad, their site is a work of futility and they can't even bother to contact you back about a membership...why would you want to give them your money?

POCATELLO, IDAHO -- Signed up in June, got "annual fee" charged the first of August. I had been into the facility about July 25 to inquire about cancelling and was told as long as I cancelled before the tenth of August there would be no further fees. Told by cashier at the club it was my annual fee and I had been told about it in the paperwork when I signed up and there were no refunds period. I had presumed the annual fee would be for the upcoming year once the first year was over. My fault. I'm usually more suspicious. So I'm into it for about $75 for about six weeks of membership. I asked to go ahead and cancel and was handed an electronic device to sign which only had the final disclaimer of the cancellation document so I couldn't see what I was signing. I was able after insisting to get a hard copy.

KENTUCKY, KENTUCKY -- As a former employee of PF, I have to say business practices are a joke. I felt awful taking people's checking account information when I signed them up, which is a HUGE red flag in my book. Thankfully, as an employee, I did not have to sign up for a membership, because I would NEVER join at my own discretion. I'm glad I didn't because there are thousands of complaints against this company which prove their business practices are shady and are only money grubbers. I've moved along employment wise, and I certainly wouldn't recommend this place as a so called 'gym'.

COPLEY, OHIO -- Deplorable Customer Service, incompetent management Speaking about TJ the manager with the green hair. She is really RUDE, CRUDE and INCOMPTENT. Several members don't like her and she has only been there a few months.
She has no customer service skills. I was Scammed on my account. The DM, Rebecca Smith also lacks customer service skills as well as the owner @ Marathon and I believe his name is Mr. Cooney.
On 3/19/19 I had asked TJ, the RUDE GM lacking knowledge for tanning bed 1 or 3 and she stated you will get bed 2 and I told her She is really RUDE, CRUDE and INCOMPTENT. I got home and she cancelled my membership for being rude as they already don't have enough members. Corporate office also could careless because the gyms are all franchised.
The Attorney General in Ohio will tell the proper contacts as I did file a complaint concerning Planet Fitness of Copley as they practice unethical business practice's.
Why would I care about Planet Fitness cancelling me as I am at a great gym for $20 a month and they offer much more and Yoga Balls to. IF YOU DONT TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMER, SOMEONE ELSE WILL!
I DO NOT RECOMEND PLANET FITNESS they treat their members like CRAP.

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- I signed up for a $22 monthly membership and I decided to cancel because I was moving into an apartment complex with a gym available to me and when I tried to cancel they charged me $58 and they also charged me an annual fee of $40 without my knowledge. They took the $40 out of my account and no one explained anything about it to me. I asked why it was so much to cancel and they told me it was because I had a year commitment and it was written in the guidelines but it was so buried and unclear. They have lost my business and are by far the worst the establishment I have ever given my business to. Good riddance.

NASHUA, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Girl (M) at front desk says I can only cancel on one specific day after the renewal date or I have to pay an additional $58. If I cancel then -- I will be responsible for another month and maybe another yearly fee. This is BS! Snarky, lying front desk girl! I called PF customer service and was told I can cancel after that last payment is deducted from my card with no penalty which is the 17th of the month. I was tricked into this NR contract to begin with! I said I wanted no commitment! I WILL NEVER GIVE PLANET FITNESS BUSINESS AGAIN!!! BANKRUPTCY is in their future when you treat customers like this!
