Total Loss Cheats

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -- When my car was declared a total loss, the total loss department offered me about $3000 below its estimated value by using CCC One (CCC Valuescope previously). Their long report made it seem like they had really calculated the value of my car, but most of the info in the report was not specific to my car. And they use the wholesale value dealers can buy the car for as your value of the car.

Even USAA's used car purchasing program had used vehicles similar to mine for sale for $6000 more than my offer (less offset of $2000 for mileage on my car which would make mine worth $4000 more than offered). When I asked for supervisors name, their answer was "what for?" I did get the supervisors name and called him and left a voice mail. The original adjuster called me back and asked if I was ready to settle. This department steals from customers. They like to call them members by trying to force a settlement.

Disappointed with USAA
By -

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I had always heard good things about USAA but boy were we surprised when we actually had to deal with them personally. First, during this ordeal, they have never once made an attempt to contact us. We always have to call them. Talk to a different person each time. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold for 30 minutes and finally had to hang up as I was at work. I had to provide the police report, trying to speed up the process because they were unable to contact their insured "member".

I have to pay at my expense to overnight paperwork to them. Always takes 2-3 days to process paperwork into their system, that's if they don't lose it and request that we send it again. Took three different attempts to get the tow truck driver here to tow away our totaled vehicle. I was lied to twice and told that the check was issued. Then, when WE call again to verify we are informed that there is yet another delay, another form, another reason why it still hasn't been issued.

Last time they told us that they issued the check, I asked for a copy as proof, they sent me a copy of a blank check. No date, No dollar amount, no nothing. These stall tactics have been going on for 3 weeks now with no end in sight. In the meantime, I am without my vehicle and all I have to show for it is a car payment due for a car USAA now has in their possession but won't pay for. What a disgrace to the good name of our service men and women who they claim to serve!

USAA Mortgage Section is Incredibly Incompetent!!
By -

SAN ANOTNIO, TEXAS -- Please save yourself and DO NOT DO BUSINESS with USAA mortgage. I am posting in sites all over the internet. The mortgage section of USAA are filled with incompetent people. The posting by "Johny **" in complaintsboard.com hits the nail right on the head! The sentence, "The loan processor assigned to us was the most incompetent, lazy, and lease knowledgeable financial services professional with whom I have ever dealt. He never answers his phone, never returns messages left in his voicemail, doesn't respond to repeated E-Mail inquiries regarding the status of our loan..." just made my wife and I laugh out loud! It is so true.

Unfortunately for us, we also missed our closing date. Mind you, it is not because we do not satisfy all 'standards' for the loan. We more than do. The reasons are simple: USAA is ripe with incompetent people. These employees have very low education and have difficulty speaking English properly. The supervisor there, called "Yolanda", is someone that certainly should not be in any leadership position.

We bargained very hard to get the owner of this particular property to sell at an extremely low price. Now, we may lose the house because Yolanda and her "TwoPac" sidekicks don't wish to work for their income. Can you imagine? On the day of the closing, we had to haggle on the phone with these hoodlums just to speak to someone in mortgaging. Then, they have the nerve to inform us that there are documents missing that I know were either sent in the packet over a month ago or, at the least, should have been told to us were missing weeks ago. I say: RUN and throw grenades behind you. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with USAA mortgage.

Worst...Mortgage Lender...EVER!!!
By -

Worst mortgage lender EVER!!! My wife and I have been USAA insurance customers for almost 20 years without a single complaint. Their customer service has always been excellent. When we decided a couple months ago to refinance our original VA loan, we looked no further than USAA because of our many years of past experience with them. 45 days into the loan process, we only now realize how big of a mistake we made by selecting them for our mortgage business. There is a HUGE disparity in the quality of their insurance services and that of their mortgage services!!!

The loan processor assigned to us was the most incompetent, lazy, and least knowledgeable financial services professional with whom I have ever dealt. He never answers his phone, never returns messages left in his voicemail, doesn't respond to repeated E-Mail inquiries regarding the status of our loan and when we finally contacted a "supervisor", she was quick to promise prompt action but dragged her feet for days.

Consequently, we've completely missed the closing date that was originally scheduled, and USAA is now requiring documents from us that have never before been needed when we've applied for home loans and are asking the exact same questions of us that we answered more than 30 days ago soon after we first applied to refinance. USAA mortgage services are a scam. They are not at all interested in providing loans at today's low market rates. Don't walk. RUN away from USAA financial services.

Stay Away From USAA

This bank used to be good a few years ago. However in the past few years, they have slipped. They are fee hungry now. They take fees even when you have money in the bank. Also they allegedly offer free Overdraft protection. That used to be that they would cover a transaction with the usual fee. Now they reject it, charge the fee and tell you that the free overdraft is that they won't charge you a fee to pull funds from another account. Also with other banks, you can contact the CEO. This bank, you can't.

You can't contact any of the Executives to try to assist you. Their regular customer service also state they are Executive relations when you ask to talk to them. They look at you as a number and a way to get money. Their customer service is not lacking. My advice? If you want to keep your money, STAY AWAY. Go find a local bank who looks at you as a human not a source of funding.

Huge Disappointment
By -

I am very angry at USAA. I have been a member since 2002. I have my car insurance, renter's insurance, savings and checking accounts with them. They had been great until now. Just a couple of weeks ago my debit card was stolen and used for a shopping spree. Within a couple of hours all of my money was gone. I notified USAA as soon as I realized the card was gone. They seemed to be really nice about it and told me that I would have my money back in a week. I was glad to have them as my bank because of their good rep and zero fraud liability.

Well, just a couple of days later they decided that since my card was stolen they wouldn't consider it fraud and therefore I wouldn't be reimbursed. They also charged me fees for overdraft protection when the check I had written just a few days prior for my rent bounced. I haven't been able to pay my rent this month and am waiting to get evicted soon. I trusted USAA with my life, possessions, and all of my money and now I'll be homeless. USAA is great until something goes wrong and they turn their backs on you.

Insurance Company's Attitude
By -

MONTGOMERY, TEXAS -- I was in an accident that damaged the passenger side door. The gentleman admitted that it was his fault and gave me the name of his insurance co. The insurance company sent out an adjuster and she looked at the outside of the car and took pictures. She sent her company only that info and said that my car needed to be totaled and they want to pay the salvage price of what the adjuster said my car was worth. She did not see if the car ran OK in fact she did not even start it, but gave the lowest estimate that she could.

My car has a dent in the door and on the front hood, but it runs good. Also the passenger side door does not open from the outside. I checked online and my car is worth more than what they said. Also all I want is my car door fixed and they said that I have to do it their way and salvage my car or fix it myself. We have to have insurance and then they won't even do what we want. I am so frustrated, but don't know where to turn.

Unfair USAA bashing from various complaint sites

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- Read a lot of people bashing USAA. They must not have been dealing with the USAA I deal with. Quick bullets, or I would be on here an hour! I"m a 24 yr AF Master Sgt. joined USAA as soon as they started taking Select Enlisted as customers. My house robbed, no pics or receipts... Claim fairly settled in 5 days. Easiest mortgage ever x two. VA first, then conv refi 15 yr fixed, 3.75 percent. Even came to my house at my time to get papers signed... super simple and really amazing

Had family Emergency, needed 15k fast, called USAA asked for personal loan. Approved in 5 minutes (honestly) and FedEx to me next day for $6.00. No need to keep boring you with my situation, though overseas issues and foreign wife created some other dizzy issues dealing with USAA, All ended fairly and fast! One last thing, love investing with them. All USAA employees get paid by hour or Salary... NO one gets commission.

Horrible Customer Service; Fee Gougers

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I have been a member with USAA for over 12 years. The last several months have been a total mess with our insurance policies. Suddenly they decided to start charging me rates for a child with a license even though my child does not have a license. In trying to straighten this out, my auto payments were halted since the payments were so screwed up and the amount was literally changing from month to month by hundreds of dollars.

I paid my December bill 4 days early. USAA then still attempted to take the payment from my account twice - both times resulting in a $29 fee - $58 total fee, because the payment was not there to take as it had already been paid early. They refuse to refund me the fees, the bank blaming the insurance side, the insurance side blaming the bank side. Both representatives I spoke to were very snotty.

The insurance representative told me that "payment was halted because you couldn't pay it on time" when in fact the payments were halted due to errors made by USAA, not me. USAA has NEVER not gotten my insurance payment. USAA has gotten too money-hungry and sees the military as a fantastic way to feed that hunger. This is not the first issue I have had with them, which is why over the years my accounts with them have gotten smaller and smaller. I will now be closing all accounts with them.
