Not Allowing Me to Refinance Mortgage
By -

I have a HELOC with Wachovia and a first mortgage with another bank. I'm trying to refinance my first mortgage with the other bank and they have approved me with a 1% reduction in loan interest rate. However, in order to complete the refinance, Wachovia has to allow it and Wachovia will not allow the refinancing. The debt to Wachovia remains the same, I'm not taking any cash-out, the overall risk reduces because my mortgage payment decreases, but Wachovia does not want to help. They even took $100 to review my application prior to telling me they couldn't approve the refinance because it's not their policy!

They Lost My $1,800 Deposit

AUBURN, ALASKA -- This happened February 14th 2009 at about 11:30PM. I had just sold my car and wanted to deposit the money. Just so I didn't get any ideas, I pulled up to the ATM and did the deposit. But to my luck the machine was not giving receipts. It was OK. That weekend was President's weekend so the bank told me I had to wait until the following Tuesday for it to clear. I waited and nothing cleared so I went to the bank and they told me that no deposit shows up so they told me I had to call this 800 number for a dispute. I called and they told me it would take a couple of days.

Yesterday I find out that they can't find it and there is nothing they can do for me so it's OK for me to lose money but not them. I will never bank with Wachovia again. They are the worst bank ever. I have a baby on the way and that money could really have helped. That won't be the last they will here from me.

Unfair Practices

THOMASVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Wachovia bank has officially not disclosed a payment availability date for funds that my son deposited into his account, these funds were a cashier's check. Their own Customer Disclosure and Agreement statement reads that if the bank should decide to place a hold on any funds, they will notify you by mail by one day after the funds have been placed on hold. That was not done. The Customer Disclosure and Agreement also reads that you will be notified as to a date when the funds will be available, that has yet to be done, either in writing or in person at the bank.

This check is an official cashier's check, tax refunds. I have never been so appalled, a bank that cannot even follow their own agreement with their customers!! My son was also told his account has been frozen, now let's see if anything tries to go through and he is then charged for something because the funds are not officially available. I will attain a lawyer for him myself!

Resolution Update 02/06/2009:

It seems one person told my son one thing, and another said that was not the case. That there was never a hold on his account. And the deposit envelopes that you put through the ATM, are their form of written notification that your funds may be placed on hold or not readily available. Just so everyone knows now.

Deal Carefully with Wachovia Financial Services

I recently became two payments late with my auto loan due to family medical issues. I called Wachovia to make a monthly payment but began receiving the third degree by a rude representative. After answering why I was late she began asking for work contact information, my cell, phone number, etc. I stopped her and said "I want to make a payment. Can we just do that?" to which she replied "I need this information since you are 43 days late." I responded "I won't be after I make my payment if you can accomplish it." The woman put me on hold for five minutes and someone else who was slightly nicer picked up the call, took my request, and processed my payment.

Be very careful with this group. Their reps are apparently trained to acquire info to harass people by cell phone and work number and to gather info for eventual repossession of your auto. They are just a little scary and certainly not helpful. Don't play along with this rudeness. By the way, I didn't lose $24 billion in the Third Quarter 2008 - they did. And they treat me like I'm their problem? That's poor customer service.

Poor and Incompetent Banking and Securities Services

FLORIDA -- For three years Wachovia charged my account service charges that they were not entitled to charge under their own terms of service and when confronted they only refunded the fees after I threatened to remove a significant amount of deposits. Since then they have done similar things several times. In the most recent series of incidents I tried to get information on deferred mutual funds sales charges so I could sell some stock out of my IRA and did get a hold of my financial adviser only after numerous phone calls.

However, I never got the information I requested despite calling both my financial adviser and assistant over ten times over a week long period. I never could get him to answer his telephone and as a result lost significant money in the recent market downturn. When threatened with a lawsuit about this matter they have failed to provide me with a final statement despite lying about their intention to provide it numerous times. In their most recent misconduct they again improperly tried to charge me a thirty dollar minimum balance fee despite the fact that I have over $20,000 on deposit with them.

Since these incidents are continual it seems clear based upon my experiences and other postings that their claim that they provide great customer service is simply a blatant fabrication. I am in the process of transferring all my IRA's and banking to another firm which has at least some idea of what true customer service involves.

Customer Service

PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA -- I am writing to express my disappointment while visiting your Pleasanton, CA branch today at approx 1 PST. It seems the entire staff was going through post lunch comatose. I arrived and was first in line. There were three tellers huddled together in one station deeply engrossed in conversation. There was no sign showing “next teller please” to indicate they were busy so I stood right in front of them waiting. The other two tellers were at their respective stations helping their customers. There were two guys in suits sitting at their desk staring at blank screens. No one acknowledged my presence or greeted me.

When a customer arrived after me, one of the tellers helping an existing customer finished, looked up, and helped the customer that arrived after me. After she finished with this customer, she finally helped me. I wasted 20 minutes of my life. Please commit some dollars into training your people. I've received far superior service from the CA Dept of Motor Vehicles.

Bank Lost My Deposit
By -

PASADENA, FLORIDA -- In July, I made a deposit (a check) of 3500.00 USD at the Wachovia branch in Pasadena, Florida. Two days later, there was a DEBIT of 3500.00 on my account. Went to the bank and was told that their clearing office in Orlando couldn't find my check on the daily bundle that my bank sent in. "As a favor" to me, they placed a TEMPORARY credit on my account. Throughout the last month I have been trying have the overseas bank that issued the check, put a stop on it, and to issue another check. They have put a stop to it and are in the process of sending a new check to Wachovia.

Today, because Wachovia feels that it is taking too long, they have removed the 3500.00 USD from my account again. I have a deposit slip that shows a 3500.00 deposit, and because Wachovia misplaced the check inside its inner works, I am the one that has to be without the money, until a new check arrives. I am closing my account, as I have no trust in this bank, and will be going in every blog and site that I can, to expose the sloppy service anybody can expect from this institution.

Customer Unfriendly And Discrimination
By -

SCARSDALE, NY, NEW YORK -- The staff here in this Scarsdale Wachovia branch are rude and extremely customer unfriendly. The manager is even ruder. I have seen her treating customers with rude comments. The branch also discriminates against people of color, old and very young. I am person of color. One day I was waiting patiently to see the manager for more than thirty minutes. I was assured by one of tellers and I was next. When the manager's door opened, a white middle-aged lady who had arrived at the branch after me walked in and closed the door. I kept asking the teller to intervene and tell the manager about me.

She was so afraid and finally told the manager. She came back to me saying that the white lady was ahead of me, which was a total lie. I assume that the lady must be very rich. I have seen a similar experience with an old lady earlier. I walked out of the branch and told them that I was not going to open the account. (They lost a jumbo CD account). The staff in this branch has no concept of customer service. They seem to be lazy and rude at all times. Please do not use this branch. There are number of other options.

Cash Deposits
By -

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Excellence in customer service...MY **!!! I cannot believe that cash deposits don't get posted immediately. It's CASH!!! Should be available immediately...not the next business day. Well, Wachovia posts CASH DEPOSITS the NEXT BUSINESS DAY. Therefore, they can charge overdraft fees. Hello, that is why I made a cash deposit, so I wouldn't have any overdraft fees.

I tried to explain this to Wachovia both over the phone and in person. Do you think they refunded my overdraft fees? NO! They specifically told me that all deposits are available the NEXT BUSINESS DAY. Therefore, because I deposited on Friday, my CASH funds weren't available until Monday. However, they can withdraw my transactions on Saturday...with the EXCEPTION of MY CASH Deposit which has to wait until MONDAY. Hogwash!

However, with CHASE BANK, cash or check deposits are available to me instantly. I explained this to Wachovia. Did they care? No. They just continued to tell me that it's Wachovia's policy not to accept CASH DEPOSITS until the "next business day". Wachovia's policy...to make money off of us!!! Change to CHASE BANK, you'll be better off!

Wachovia Sucks!!
By -

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I was a customer for over a year. I used my debit card for everything. The other day, I tried to use my card, and it did not work. When I called to inquire, they told me that I had placed an "empty" envelope in the ATM as a deposit. I had deposited a $300.00 check, but Paul, the loss prevention prick, claimed the check wasn't there.

He flat out accused me of theft and dishonesty. With their excessive overdraft fees when the funds are there to cover everything, I believe Wachovia and its employees, are the ones who are being dishonest and stealing from their customers. Now, I cannot EVER get another debit card issued from Wachovia again. Wells Fargo is happy to have me as a customer now. Paul, I hope you and an 18-wheeler meet head on...
