Fuel Perks Program is a Fraud

FLORIDA -- The Fuel Perks program at Winn-Dixie is a fraud. The items on the Fuel Perks program are those items either they are trying to get rid of, or are the most profit boosting items for the company. This means the customer is spending more. The program is also bringing in clientele that stores like Publix, Fresh Market, and the upscale supermarkets frown upon. Back in the past, Winn-Dixie catered to the hard working, blue collar worker. Today that ideal has reversed to those who live off of government benefits (WIC, Food Stamps, etc). When was the last time you saw a LARGE number of WIC customers shopping at a Publix or Fresh Market?

What many may not realize is that Winn-Dixie is not about the customer, but is about the money they make. Now that they are bought over by Bi-Lo, you will notice even more the prices going up. I realize also that the Fuel Perks program is not going to last forever, and eventually they will kill the program without customers even knowing it. If you really think you are getting a bargain by shopping at Winn-Dixie, then go ahead and throw your money away.

Gas Perks Scam

SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA -- When Winn Dixie offered perks for cheaper gas we thought this is a great idea. But when we discovered that Winn Dixie uses the "Higher" priced gas stations, that are NOT convenient to the area we shop in, we quickly saw the scam. These operators (more often than not) screw up the Winn Dixie card, then charge you for the higher priced fuel. If you choose to argue with them, they run you through hoops trying to discourage you (what with other customers and all) so that you will just leave.

We KNOW Winn Dixie knows about these practices. Since Winn Dixie's prices are inflated in the area anyway... it's probably best that we just shop ELSEWHERE. We'll be sure to pass along our gas perk experiences to our Winn Dixie shopping friends.

Not Safe at Winn Dixie

PALM BAY, FLORIDA -- I'm 6 months pregnant so I took a friend and my 15 month old to Winn Dixie to get groceries. I went the Winn Dixie on Malabar rd last week and a girl that used to have a grudge with my friend approached her with my son in the cart. She started screaming and was on my son, that's how close! She's threatening to hurt her in uniform on shift!! With my son there! Then threatened she would attack us all in the parking lot when we left!!

I called and reported it with 3 different managers and Winn Dixie said that I didn't have enough proof so all she got was a talk...? I was so scared I had to have my husband pick me and the baby up! Threaten a mother and baby?? Never again going there!!!

Moths in Store
By -

OCALA, FLORIDA -- About 3 years ago I started having a problems with MOTHS. I noticed them in foods I purchased at Winn Dixie, store #2213 in Ocala, Florida. Since that time I have throw new and old dry products, rice, cereal, cake mixes, grits, pancake mix, flour, name it I have thrown it away. I complained to a manager, he said very little. That store continues to have this problems as late as May.2011. I have lost and still throwing out food as late as yesterday 11/25/11.

I still have moths, however after spending quite lot on moth packets at Lowe's, and hanging fly strips in clothes closets and everywhere I can find to hang them. I do have a "better control" over them. I still throw away dry foods. I also have a home in Jacksonville, and have transferred them up there! I love Winn Dixie Meats. They have the best meat and prices. I love the fuel perks and transfer all my prescription to Winn Dixie as you get $.05 cents per script. I hope they find away to get rid of pest.

Handicap People Beware
By -

PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA -- My wife is handicapped with ms and trigeminal neuralgia which by the way has an 80% suicide rate. She had visited the store which is only blocks from our condo here. The manager saw the badges all over my wife's service dogs vest but still screamed at her to leave the store. After she showed him one of the cards given to her by the ADA he still screamed at here to leave the store and touched the dog!!

After the police came and informed him of the federal law prohibiting these actions he informed them he did not care. One of the employees has since informed me he referred to my wife as "that crazy **." Shame on you sir. I pity you for your attitude toward people with special needs and pray no one in your family is stricken with a disease like ms.

No Check-Out Open
By -

FOER LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- I just got back from Winn-Dixie (on 941 W State Road 84, Fort Lauderdale, Florida) where the only open check-out was for 20 items or less. I, unfortunately had a full cart of food. As any of you who've used self check-out at these stores know, you can't use cloth bags (even though they sell them) to self check-out. They keep all the extra carts outside so you can't put your food into another cart as you check your items.

So there I was having finished my shopping and having been refused a 'real' check-out; scanning items and stacking them all over the floor. Guess who gave a crap? No one who worked there. It didn't matter that my food rolled around under other's feet blocking their path. What is wrong with that store? Why in the--don't they have a 20 items or MORE check-out open and make the people with fewer items check themselves out? Publix may cost more but Winn-Dixie can bite me. I've already emailed a complaint to Winn-Dixie and I expect to hear nothing from them.

Finally - a manager who gets it
By -

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- I have been shopping at the Winn Dixie at SW 104th Street off Dixie Highway for over 20 years. I have told anyone who would listen that this store had horrible customer service. However, today, I met Brian. I think he's some kind of store manager, but, if he isn't, he definitely should be. Without my asking, he saw me looking for something in an aisle and helped me find it. Then, when I was (self)checking out, he saw I had a big bag of kitty litter, and, again, without asking, lifted it up and scanned it for me -- then, waited until I had paid and put it back in the cart.

He also asked if I had registered for their new gas card and, when I said I really wasn't interested, he said "Let me have your driver's license. It will take me one minute." True to his word, he came back in one minute with the new card. Then, he handed me a packet of coupons. Unbelievable. I was looking around for a hidden camera. I can't tell you how happy I am that this store finally found someone who remembers what customer service is. Awesome!

Buy one get one free?
By -

Do the math. I buy a package of legs and thighs at Winn Dixie priced at $4.59 a pound. The buy one, get one free sale is on and I like to get something free so that sounds like a good deal. So now a pound of legs and thighs is only $2.29, I pay the cashier and the receipt shows me how much I saved by getting the free pound of chicken. I now go to Sweet Bay to shop for some other items and I look at the price of legs and thighs for $1.79 a pound. My free item cost me 50 cents a pound more. I vote with my feet. Goodbye Winn Dixie.

Bug Found in Lima Beans
By -

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- So today I decided to cook some Lima Beans. Open the can and pour the beans in the pan. Then I notice something Black in the beans. At first I thought it may have been a discolored bean. Then I go to take it out and it was a long bug looked like some sort of cocoon. I freaked out. I am disgusted and outraged to find something like this in my food so I threw the beans away. No way am I eating that crap and I sent an email to Winn-Dixie. They better get back to me. This is crazy.

Why Did the Davis Boys Have to Die?
By -

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- I worked many (26) years with Winn Dixie. As a young man of 16 this was my first real job. I worked for some good people in GA who cared about me and the other employees, but for management that cared about the customer. This was what I learned was standard procedure for the Davis family, who started Winn Dixie.

I learned that policy was, Winn Dixie hired from within. As time and years went on the Davis brothers died. So did customer service and employee appreciation. I had bought stock, gone to college on a w/d scholarship and become a store manager. The management that filled the gap were self centered, unappreciative and had no desire to serve our customers, the people that paid us. Winn Dixie should close or at least change the name. I miss the Davis family and shame on those management people that lost the vision.
