Beware of Deceptive Billing Practice
By -

After three-month free trial, I decided to extend my subscription for another three months only because they offered special pricing. After three months, I expected that the service would be terminated automatically. A few months later, they kept sending me past due notices and collection agencies kept calling me. I protested but they would not budge citing the contract. The so-called contract in fine prints said that the subscription would automatically renew unless I give them cancel notice.

This is outrageous and deceptive. Who would remember the renewal date and give them the notice? I would never do business with this rogue company again and I will bring this to Fair Trade Commission for review. I would also notify the New York State Attorney General for deceptive billing practice.

XM Service Is Horrible
By -

The service of XM is as most people could put as horrible. I was charged $150.28 extra on my account for a radio that was disconnected. I called way back in December about a letter I received of how they couldn't automatically bill me for a charge on a radio. After I tried speaking with the person at the other end of the line I was told twice that I wouldn't be billed for this charge. Then when it did show up on my account I tried to call back 5 more times. When I did get through they wouldn't reverse the charge because they said I had already used this radio. Even though it was taken off my account 2 months earlier.

I have since tried calling back 3 more times and each call averaged at least 30 min. without speaking with anyone. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to try to not only speak with someone who can understand me but when I do get someone it takes at least another 20-30 min. to try to get it resolved. And that didn't even take place as I was charged again for service I haven't received.

Riots Are Better Organized

A few weeks ago, Sirius/XM posted a notice on their website that all online listeners had to "upgrade" to continue to use that service. I went to the "upgrade" page after a few minutes of sifting through their useless menus. (Why not an "UPGRADE HERE" button?) There were several choices, one of which was to continue with current package, car radio plus online. So I clicked that, and logged out.

I guess that shouldn't have been a choice, because this morning I was unable to log in online. XM has a dual login; logging in for the online account doesn't log you in for the online radio. So again, after 10 minutes of moving from one screen to another, I finally found the button I was looking for: Online access would add another $2.95 to my monthly bill. And of course, not all of XM's channels are online. OK, I bite the bullet, and I figure I'm done. No.

Three hours later, I still can't log in online. My account shows that I have the "premium" online service, but I have no access. There's no satellite setup involved, it's a simple online feed. This company sucks worse than almost any I've ever dealt with, and it's gotten worse since Karmazin planted his hooks into it. I am seriously considering dumping the service entirely over this nonsense.

Extremely Difficult To Do Business With
By -

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- I have have had many phone calls to XM Satellite Radio. No one ever knows what's going on plus no one ever gives the same information. It has become impossible to deal with them. The first radio didn't work. XM said they would do a swap-out. I sent the radio back. I called a week or 10 days later to see where my replacement was. They said they never received the radio back. I had an email from UPS saying the date, time and who signed for it. Then they found the radio... but that still didn't work. I called many more times with them not knowing where the radio was.

Finally, a new radio was shipped to me. The radio cuts out every time you turn a different direction. I hate the radio.
Right now... all I want to do is return the radio for a refund. Four different people have told me four different ways on how to do it. I have two pages of documentation (typed) on what a nightmare this has been.

The last phone call I had with XM the guy said he would go in the back and tell the higher-ups what was going on and they would get back to me. He couldn't say when that would be, etc., etc. There was no one I could talk to. It has been going on a week with no contact from XM. I have given up trying to deal with XM and have turned it over to my credit card company for dispute. I am to the point of not believing anything XM Satellite Radio says.

Big Scam
By -

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- I purchased a new 2008 Chevy Silverado Truck. When I got the truck it had the Satellite Radio as a trial deal as part of my package. When the trial was over the radio was shut off. I received a call from XM to see if I wanted to keep it. I said sure I would give it a try. I NEVER GOT THE RADIO BACK ON!!! I tried calling several times to tell them this & I could not get through. When I did I told them I had no Satellite they told me I had to be in my Truck for 30 min; with my cell phone and them online. WELL, THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I could never get them again. Then I finally got through and I told them to cancel this, I do not want this, it's not worth all this trouble.

I WAS HUNG UP ON. I called back and could never get through. NOW THEY ARE SAYING I OWE $28 SOMETHING. Please tell everyone if you get this service, be very careful. You will probably have to keep it forever cause no matter if you have it or not you will be paying for it. They are charging me for something I never had. Also, they have the worse customer service I have ever encountered and that's saying a lot I am 58 years old. I believe in paying my bills if I owe the bill. I DO NOT OWE THIS ONE. I AM NOT PAYING IT. I plan to do whatever it takes to tell everyone about this FRAUD!!! Thank You.

Terrible Customer Service
By -

I've spoken to XM radio more than a dozen times about just starting my free 90 day trial period for their XM radio, nav traffic and nav weather. Each time they've had a hoop for me to jump through. First, they told me my car didn't come with the service. After hounding the dealership to contact them, they finally gave in. But they would not activate the nav traffic and weather before I called them 3 more times.

Finally they get the nav traffic to work but not the weather. Their excuse... my car isn't equipped for nav weather, which is blatantly false. They've stuck with that story since so I'm driving around with only 2/3 of a trial package. If a trial package is that hard to get from them, then imagine how hard it is to get regular service. XM radio really has stooped to a low in customer satisfaction.

Monsters of Abuse!
By -

I have tried, for the past 4 years to deal with these monsters so I can use the $160.00 worth of equipment that was purchased for me. My latest dealings included customer service abuse. I was threatened, verbally abused and lied to by at least 4 different customer service monsters from XM Radio, all because I wanted to do business with them. They have the proficiency of a brain-dead monkey and the kindness of Adolf Hitler. I was lied to, threatened, yelled at and was told they would charge whatever they wanted on my credit card whether I liked it or not. What a great way to treat the disabled.

Canceling XM Satellite Radio
By -

As relentless as XM Satellite radio is to having you renew your subscription after your complimentary term expires, they are almost impossible to contact to cancel the service. They will, without notice, deduct payment from whichever account they have on record.

After being put in the 'on hold loop', the 'system is down, call back in 2 hours' loop, being hung up on and spoken to by people who speak accented English, I finally phoned the auto complaint line for my 6 month old vehicle. The service representative there was most helpful, actually spoke to someone with XM Satellite radio who accepted my cancellation. Of course they offered me continued service at a cheaper rate and several other 'come ons' which I refused. Best advice for quickest response, call your automotive complaint line. They actually own a share of this radio service per the 'help' person.

XM Billing Scam
By -

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY -- On 10/14/08, I said to cancel my service. I was told I could have (3) for $ 4.99 a month after 11/23/08, for the (3) months ending on 2/9/09. XM is billing my credit card $ 16.02 for 11/24/08, when it should be $ 4.99.

Note: I sent XM an email with this information when I received your my credit card bill on December 24, 2008. AS of today January 20, 2009, they have not yet responded. I have sent another email to them today.

Their website makes it very hard to contact them. They are primarily set for only ordering and renewing. I sent an email on their website using their XMRadio.com and had it returned undeliverable.

AC/DC Replaces the Punk Station
By -

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS -- XM Radio in all its wisdom decided to give the axe to its only station dedicated to Punk/Ska/Hardcore/Surf. The replacement? AC/DC. Yep, a band you can hear almost every hour on every two bit terrestrial classic rock station around the country. Yes, I understand they have a new album and I'm sure XM/Sirius got a nice check from the record company to push this album.

I get it. But you pick Fungus as the station that has to go? Not wise, I called to cancel my subscription today (2 radios) and was offered 3 months free from a nice gentleman who said he loved Bad Religion (one of my favorites as well). If XM doesn't bring back Fungus or a decent replacement in 3 months, I'll just call to cancel again.
