Swimming Pool Too Cold
If you want to join to swim or to use the swimming pool, beware that although they claim to keep the water at 85 degrees, they don't. Water at a lower temperature than 85 degrees is way too cold. Stop ... read full review
Bad Policy & Poor Customer Service

I called at 3:00 in the afternoon on a Monday and couldn't get anyone who spoke English? when I asked for a supervisor I was told ALL supervisors were busy with other customers. I told the girl that I am not reinstating my membership until I speak to one, and the problem had been fixed. she then told me that her supervisor would call me within 24 hours then read back my "phone number" - which was not my phone number. she then took down my number and I had her read it back to me - she got none of the digits correct. after failing this basic task 3 times I told her I will just wait until one is available, I had time to wait.

i waited over an hour and 30 minutes, which she checked back to see if I was still waiting every 20 minutes. finally on the last time she checked to see if I was still waiting, she sighed and said "FINE!" two minutes later I was transferred to a "supervisor". not even the "supervisor" spoke enough English to effectively communicate. ridiculous!
needless to say I did not go through and reinstate my membership...
The finger scanning process at 24 Hour Fitness is just to speed up the process and keep members from having to carry around their id card. Its only to help the members with a more efficient way to check in. It's not a conspiracy against people and they already have all of your personal information if you are a member so the finger scan isn't really any different. 4 Replies - Latest reply on 01/28/2011Add reply

Exercise equipment is dated but did have lap pool, sauna and steam room that I enjoyed. however, my locker was broken into and wallet taken. I filled out an incident report and when I returned the next day they could not find the report that I just filled out 12 hours prior. The manager did check with the cleaning company if they recovered anything and did call me back. The LV metro did arrest two persons that apparently were breaking into lockers with combination locks. They did recover my drivers license and other ID but no cash or credit cards. I give this a low rating as security is lacking and I don't know what the staff did with my incident report.1 Replies - Latest reply on 10/09/2010Add reply

HATE 24 Hour Fitness! Joined while I was working out of town and had to put a freeze on it every time I went home because they had no gyms in my state. If that wasn't enough of a reason, they limited the freeze to only 6 months which I had money paid to them already with my account frozen. EVERY time I had to call, it was a mess. Customer service reps would not assist, even argued with me at one point. And now that I am working out of state again and want to re-enstate my membership. They will not help me again!! They want me to start all over and pay initiation fees and first/last month dues. Which they still owed me 2 months I had already PAID for!! Their customer service is HORRIBLE. ALL they want is your $$$3 Replies - Latest reply on 07/31/2010Add reply
I have sent several e-mails to [snip - no names please] your club manager at Newark 546 since February of this year. I have asked that a few small items be addressed and tended to, however a ceiling fan that I pointed out over 5 months ago as not working still hasn't been repaired. This fan is located over the cardio area adjacent to the men's locker-room. Mr. has asked that I be patient and I think 5 months is patient enough. As I had thought about upgrading my membership, now I am considering prorating the duration of my 24-hour membership and going to another gym entirely.

This lack of attention and poor performance on the part of 24 Hour Fitness and its staff speaks volumes and as I indicated above I am considering switching gyms and so are a few others. The common thread among your members is?
Why would you pay more fees if ?24? won?t take care of the simple things when needed? in other words why throw good money after bad. I think it?s fair to say that we are tired of the run around!

I "won" a gift of an annual membership when I was at a sports game. 24 Hour Fitness had us fill out the necessary paperwork indicating they were going to honor the free gift, but then started charging us immediately. We've tried twice by phone to make the adjustment with no success and now need to go there in person to get it settled. 3 Replies - Latest reply on 06/06/2010Add reply
MESQUITE,, TEXAS -- I have been a member of at Mesquite, Tx (on Galloway Ave) 24 Hour fitness for nearly 10 years. Most of that time I have enjoyed the facility and the standards they have maintained.

But within the last year or so, things have slipped badly. Carpets are badly stained with seams worn ragged. Tiles in several areas in the locker room are coming loose or falling out. The only thing retaining it is cardboard and duct tape (really!). Locker doors are often badly warped with some of them unable to close and/or lock. Equipment can go months without repairs, And the locker room cleaning crew come entirely too infrequently: toilet paper is frequently absent, the floors are sometimes absolutely filthy with wet TP and dirt mixed together, toilet seats are rarely cleaned. Moreover, the roof leaks whenever it rains.
No complaint has any affect, and the only hope is a rumor that the club will move to a new location within the next year but the rumor also says they will upgrade so they can jack up priced. It won't be much help if the current maintenance strategy is continued.
